Wow! I'm not a big fan of colors. But, what beautiful build. Top notch work. Love the Merc wagons of this time period. Two doors or four, the hardtop style of '57 through '60 Mercurys look great to me. Scott

As noted by others, very nice build. I like that you gave it whitewall tires. I don't think recent reissues came with whitewalls. Which are need on a cruiser like this from the 1970's. Scott

Stooges
unclescott58 replied to flint1962's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Just ordered this kit. I too am a big fan of the Stooges. Plan on use the decals used on the model on box. Hook, Line and Sinker, Fresh Fish. I love it! Scott -
I'm a little confused. "55T Bird done!"? It looks like a '56 too me.

Yes Rok, it comes prepainted. Price? I picked up mine from a seller on eBay for $179 US. Most other vendors want about $100 more for some reason. Despite the great price, the kit was brand new and in prefect condition. And they had several available at that price. So it pays to shop around. Again, this is one of most pleasent kits I've ever had pleasure to build. No painting. And the painted details are very well done. Easy to assemble. And great instructions. I was little hesitant to buy any model for $179, much less $279 or more. But, it was worth every penny I spent on it. I no buyer's regret on this one. Scott

Interesting. A couple of more questions. How does this effect using a decal setting solution like Micro Sol or others? How flexible are decals for going around contours and such after clear coating them? As far as our friend over in Australia, Future is a clear acrylic liquid floor wax sold in this country. A lot of modelers over here use it to clear coat models. Some air brush it on. Most people I know, just use brush a coat on using cotton balls out of all things. This stuff is great. It's self leveling. Dries fairly fast. It does not yellow the way some other clear coats do. And since it's made for floors, it's pretty tough. On the kitchen floor it may wear off in a few months. But, as long as you don't step on your models, it works pretty good. Scott

The Lot Lizard
unclescott58 replied to ScaleModelAddict's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Scott that may be the meanest looking truck ever! Great detail. I like it! (another) Scott -
I'm still not really understanding this. Can you spray clear coat from a can? Or would I be better off with a thin coat of something like Future acrylic floor wax? And doesn't the clear coat wet the decals? Or keep them from getting wet when you do dip them? Scott

This talk about coating decals before using them. Can someone tell me more about? Scott

They are OK. I had a little trouble. The larger decals for bed floor and roof, etc., took forever to loosen from their paper backing. Some of the inks used did not react well to Micro Sol setting solution. You may notice a little blurring/smear look on the front grille decal and the barrel tops. You also need to cut around the decal very closely, since they are printed on a white decal backing film rather than clear. In general I like the decals. They are not as good as those from Keith Marks, up in Winnipeg. Scott

OK, Emmanuel, had to see more of your '75. Again, very nice. I like that you stuck the AMC six in it. Now, even more I can't wait to see your snowplow Gremlin in detail. Scott

Are the side coves on this kit seperate pieces? That should make painting the side coves easier to paint a different color than the rest of the body. I like that idea. Scott

Wow! I don't remember ever seeing a Gremlin with a vinyl roof. Now seeing the brochure picture, I'm more impressed even yet with your model Emmanuel. Scott

'53 Ford Phantom Dually
unclescott58 replied to Customizer's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Boy, Ron if you were to describe this truck to me. A '53 Ford, extended cab, dually, and those colors. I'd think there was no way that thing could look good. But, as they say see is believing. Your truck is stunning! It looks right in every way. Well done! Scott -
60 Ranchero Plain Jane
unclescott58 replied to Porscheman's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The Gray Green looks a lot better than it sounds. Great color for something from this era. Scott -
Several times I've come back to look at this posting. So maybe it's time to say something? I'm impressed. It's a great looking model. Right or wrong? Because of your build, I keep thinking about buying a Trumpeter Ranchero. Price is the only thing stopping me so far. But, seeing your build, I might just get past that. Scott

Datsun Pick-up

Cute! Scott -
I especially love the interior on the car. Very nice. Have to go to the truck section and see your '65 Chevy. Scott P.S. I always work on several kits at a time. The painting is one big reason. As the paint is drying I can work on something else. And if some parts from two or more kits need the same color, I paint them at the same time.

By the way, Emmanuel, I hope you show us and tell us more about your '75 and snowplow Gremlins in the very near future. And Jules, I hope what you said about your wife isn't totally true. Though now you know part of reason I've never gotten married. Most gals I've dated were like that. Scott

Next to cars and trucks, I love to build models of spacecraft. I mostly built fictional spacecraft. But, the real stuff creeps in from time to time. This is one of the nicest and most expensive models I've ever had the pleasure of building. This kit is beautiful in every way. Believe it or not, it's a snap together kit! It's 1:100 scale. 180 parts, predecerated. It stands 43 1/2 inches tall when finished. Comes with a great 14 page instruction book, were the first four pages tell you about the real vehicle and it's missions. Build time was quick. It maybe took me 4 hours to assemble. Most parts snap together very firmly. Only with a few very small parts did I use a little glue. I got to say, I was blown away by this kit. There are other subjects 4D Vision offers that I'm looking forward to building in the future. Scott
