Something I've been wanting to do for some time...

Lots to do on it yet - windshield chop, lots of gap filling and clean-up, decklid hinges, rear seat, etc. This is after two or three hours of cutting, fitting, gluing and filling.

The Revell body is off a bit dimension-wise so getting the rear panel and decklid to look correct is a challenge but I'm liking the look so far. It will never be an accurate representation of a true Hebmuller, more of a modern-day tribute kind of machine.

Comments most welcome. :)

Hi Mike,

a lot of work coming up to you! Are you sure, to do this?

Time ago, i found here on mcm a link to a resin-Hebmueller that i ordered - because it is a beautiful car. i always wanted to have one in "our" scale.

@Tom. here it is, the beauty:

That is looking good, and is going to be a lot of work, but that's even more reason to continue!

Here's a link to the resin one available . The Best Model Car Parts  I have their Split Window which is a spectacular casting and conversion.

This one won't be an accurate representation of a real Heb... I don't have the skills or the ambition to do that. :(

Instead, it'll be a modern-day tribute to one, based off of Revell's '69ish Beetle Convertible. Newer dash panel. turn signals, taillights, etc., etc., etc..

I've wanted to build a real full-sized replica for a long time and may some day do so, but for now, this will have to do. The '49 Hebmuller is one the most beautifully designed cars I've ever seen. :)

Ready for final prep and paint...

I added the side moldings along the belt line, as well as on the hood and running boards. Had one on the decklid too, but didn't like it.

And the convertible top molding was a me creation. :)

Paint tomorrow, hopefully.

Ever think of going custom hebmuller? Thats something youd never see in the real world. Slammed stance, porsche wheels, bright yellow and white 2 tone

This one is going to be lowered somewhat, Porsche wheels (not the ones pictured) and red and black two tone... so I'm close. :)

awesome. I can't wait to watch it progress. I love this idea!

Got some colour on it... a light polish and that will be good.

Fiddling with the interior now, trying to get it to look more like a Heb and less like a Cabriolet.

I chopped down the high-back bucket seats and re-formed the seat backs to look more period-correct. I think they turned out ok.

Presently working on the rear storage/jump seat/convertible top area... fun, fun, fun! :)

Not sure if I'm liking the Fuchs wheels now... got a set of chrome steel wheels from a Porsche 904 kit and some wide whites that I might use instead...

Comments always welcome.

Very cool looking machine. I would use some steel wheels with more lip on them. Or some aluminium type wheels, but more lip still. The colour combo looks really good on that body.

My homemade tonneau cover...

I've spent a lifetime forming and shaping sheet metal of all gauges, but working with a disposable aluminum loaf pan is something else! :)
