Dragline Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 As I work on my Fujimi Countach I was looking at some builts from years ago. My Father passed away July 22nd this year and his man cave is full of builds I have done since I was a kid. I have all those builds again and I was looking at some of them and since I'd never shared them before I thought I would do so now. This started life as the Monogram Plum Crazy funny car from the mid 80's. I forgot where I got the decal set from but it's a decent quality and accurate to the original kit. Nothing fancy except plug wires and Alclad for the front and rear bumpers and injector hat. A blast from the past and one of my fathers favorite builds of mine. I look at it and think of him, and that's why I built it in the first place.
Metaldrumm Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 First of all thanks for sharing, love the car end to end
DumpyDan Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Wow this is awesome looking, got me thinking maybe to get one of the old Monogram drag cars out and build it
Snake45 Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 This build has the look - nice.Agree completely. Well done!
randyc Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I remember getting the original kit as a kid. Probably no paint since it was molded in color. Love it that someone has that original scheme.
vintagedragcrazy Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 First thing Bob is sorry for your loss and what a nice share and tribute to your dad! Love the build and would love to see more!vince
iBorg Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 First thing Bob is sorry for your loss and what a nice share and tribute to your dad! Love the build and would love to see more!vince I second that. Loosing a loving Dad is a very hard event no matter how old either of you are.
Scalper Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Slick build. Looks great. I lost my dad 7 years today.
Dragline Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 Thanks everyone. Loss on such a personal level is best dealt with in as positive a manner as you can. In my case I see things all around that he built, made better or simply bought. I live in the house he bought and it is now mine. I still have his PT cruiser and all his tools down in the basement. I choose to see his life in everything around me and it has helped with losing him. Andre, it will always hurt I guess eh? That's OK, I want it too. That is life affirming. I had my dad for 52 years of my life. It was more than many get and for that I am grateful. This car is another example. My dad was head over heels about the new Challenger. I thought he might even buy one at one point but he didn't. I saw this kit and painted it in the color he liked and built it for him. It was really that simple. There was a WIP on this site about this car and I never saw it through so here it is now in all its Lime Green glory. Another of his favorites.
Mr. Metallic Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Very clean build. Makes me want to dig out my Plum Crazy an throw a little detail at it. Built it as a kid and I think it would be fun to revisit it.
Art Laski Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Sorry for your loss, Bob. Thanks for sharing your models. Good stuff there.
