Vince66
This will get a mid length frame with lots of scratchbuilding going on. Even considering opening the doors and cabinets. Will be replacing the hand grabs and a bunch of other stuff to happen to this truck. Will either be pulling a 43' cow chow wagon or a 40' skateboard and 28' rollerskate not sure just yet had the paint idea picked out. So we'll see where this one ends and at least i have a one piece cab sorry gang so much easier. Vince66
Otay Buck wheat here's a minor update. Got a 1mm & 4mm Molotow pens did a little test on the freightliner logo and tested a spot on the bumper wow what a difference it makes. Also using an HO Sylvan scale models GMC crackerbox rear axle as a guide to making my own rears the pics are of the rear locker axle beside the sylvan part. Heck might even plumb this truck ROFLOL ?. This trucks been in the works about 3+/- years time to build it.

Vince66
Update as i slowly progress found my 0.010 fiber optics and my. 0402 micro smds let there be light Hehehehehe. Tested it on a longer frame kw i'm also working on along with testing a couple of trailers behind it to get a feel for where this truck is going. Thinking the kw chassis will look about right length wise for a western truck give it the look i'm after. So as soon as i find my frame material I can get started on that found most of my engine block plastic so will be able to get started on that now. Also found the tubing for my mufflers so making some progress. The black trailer i stripped the silver off took 2-months to get it to bare plastic. Added an aftermarket TK reefer unit along with a working slider for this trailer will have wobblies on it the red is tru-color CB&Q Chinese Red. The floor was painted with MM aircraft interior black have a really cool idea for this trailer. The white bud of California trailer is the stock athearn trailer. The green trailmobile 40' skateboard has a real wood deck in the kit might hook this behind it and throw a 28' rollerskate behind that with a termite load lol. The W900A might be the next truck could end up with a dry bulk doubles set like i used to drive after the freightshaker is done not sure yet as found a bunch of unfinished 2+ year old projects today. Vince66
Minor update as i'm getting a cat scan in the morning JK. Seriously though a little more work on the rear interlock axle. Went to hobby lobby found some plain black rhinestones that are about the perfect size needed for the rear housing of the axles. Super glued it to the top of a paint jar so i could sand it round instead of faceted. Added top and bottom strips of .010X.060 strip on the axle to help give it slope at the housing. It's getting there these are the hardest parts of the build once past this it's somewhat smooth sailing. Also found my frame material so i'll be able to start on that now to. To also give you a better understanding it's next to a #11 exacto handle. ? Edited April 12, 2019 by NothingAsFineAsaW9
Vince66
B4 calling it a night here's a quickie frame I did for this truck. Let me know what you think good bad or ugly ? Filled in the headlight area as the stock cab is missing the raised headlight area at the corner of the cab like it should be. Enjoy as i'm getting a cat scan in the morning JK. Seriously enjoy

bigred63
Wow Vince, your frame looks great. I remember a few years a go, an article about building model truck frames from scratch. Keep up the good work.
Vince66
Frame overall length is a whopping 3.18 inches long lol. Just a tad longer than the stock kw test frame. I'm in trouble just ordered more photo etch for this truck. Thanks BR63 it's getting there. Might end up regretting titling this truck not sure yet lol. Next one is going to be a surprise already have it figured out.
Pete68
Looking good I like the latter frame I’ve built many of these old Athearn Freightliners. I still have the very first one I got it was a Time-DC I got it in 1981-82 I think. Since we can post 1/87 Trucks here guess I will have to rebuild it and post it.
