Rakentaja Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 This is my first motorcycle built after 1973. It took the most time to do the spokes, the end was easier and faster. Attaching some parts just was tricky when there weren’t really proper attachment points. The side panels and saddle are good examples of this, they just had to be glued in place somehow. Although this first one was a bit awkward, I still plan to continue building motorcycles. I think these are more comfortable to build than cars. Scale is certainly one of the deciding factors.
John B. Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 (edited) Very realistic - nicely done. Edited February 15, 2021 by John B.
peteski Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Your model came out really nice. The wire spokes make it much more realistic. If some parts have no attachment to glue points, you can pin them together. Drill holes in both parts for a small diameter brass rod, then use CA glue to everything together.
HJK Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Jouko, The BMW looks great and like a real one. The reality is not only the more than gorgeous spokes, it's also the bluish color of the exhaust pipes. Everyone who owned such a BMW knows that. That is a very nice detail. And again, the green looks absolutely great. Take care, Juergen
64Comet404 Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Gorgeous build. As a rider of an R-series bike, I always love seeing builds of boxer-engined Beemers.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. I tried my best to do it, I wasn’t quite successful in all parts, but at least I learned something new that I can take advantage of in future building kits.
bbowser Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Very convincing replica, the spokes make a big difference.
