xs650shawn Posted June 15, 2022 Author Posted June 15, 2022 Finally got some paint on the body. Tamiya light gray primer, Createx Opaque Red (4 coats), and 2K clear (3 coats). Tamiya semi-gloss black for the hood, spoiler, and intake components, most of which will probably still get a coat of satin clear. Detail painted the engine and chassis. 3
David G. Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 The paint looks great! The other bits are coming along nicely too. David G.
Dirty Gringo Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Man this thing is looking wicked thanks for sharing. Also I almost like it better flat that red looks good flat.
Slotto Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Nice job on the Duster. Ive used pill bottles more than once before on some of my builds. The stance is going to be killer
ea0863 Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 I'm watching this build with great interest! And I love the trick with the pill bottle. Thanks for keeping us up to speed!
TransAmMike Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Really good looking Duster. I have painted a couple of models in the Createx opaque red. The more coats you put the redder it gets.
mrm Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Looking really good so far. pardon my ignorance, but what engine is that? Looks like a shortened first gen Viper.

xs650shawn Posted August 10, 2022 Author Posted August 10, 2022 Not my best, not my worst, but calling it done. I admit impatience and a bit of frustration over how long this one took me kinda got to me. Not a bad kit at all, but have to admit, I think I enjoy building box stock better. Tubbed the rear, cut down fuel tank, had to modify rear seat and deck. Narrowed rear axle, changed wheels. Stance didn't end up as low as I wanted, but it'll do.
David G. Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Nice paint finish, good details, it looks great! David G.
