HRM April 1988 was their second swimsuit issue, and one model therein looked kind of familiar to me...

Anybody recognize her? How about now?...

That's right! Debbe Dunning - otherwise known as Heidi the "Tool Time Girl" from Home Improvement! What car buff didn't love that show?  :)

Now I'm going to have to pull my dvd collection out of mothballs and watch the whole series all over again! :)

Next up is Miami Vice as a topic. Let's see how you felt about that show? :)

I have the boxed set on disk. 😁

But you did ask about the first one. [What car buff didn't love that show?] and I answered.

I totally respect your opinion, both about Tim Allen and about Miami Vice (and yes, I too have the boxed set :) )

HRM August 1988 had not one, but two blurbs related to the Ferrari Testarossa. First up was a custom called the "Brillante" that was a C4 Corvette underneath. Interestingly, although the proportions were nothing like the Testarossa, the overall look of the car was pretty 80's glamorous! I might even try this one in plastic sometime.

The second Testarossa was regarding the Miami Vice white car. Lore had it that Ferrari sued the show over its use of a Coachcraft 365GTS clone. As part of settling the suit, Miami Vice got rid of the black car (in a momentous explosion no less), and it was replaced by two black Testarossas given by Ferrari to the show. These cars were repainted white because Michael Mann thought the color showed up better on screen. What I didn't know is what this article in HRM had to say about a third car that was made for the stuntwork:

Thus, for any Miami Vice hound (such as myself), it will be necessary for me to kit blend this "stunt car" together :)

Revell did a kit of the Matt Hay T-Bird. I bought and built it as soon as it came out! No longer have it. But, I used the chassis from them under a '64 Fairlane and a '49 Ford. I also have a really old project with that chassis under a '56 Fairlane. Revell also did the Rick Dobbertin Pontiac J-2000.
