GLMFAA1 Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 (edited) This is first edition AMT ALF pumper I built a long time ago. This kit has had many reissues and under different labels. Manufactured with different color plastics. After I took these pictures it went into the shop for a major rehab. needs some more detailing and some bling added to its chrome. Some new hose as these are shoe laces. The canvas cover is from a 1/35th Bandai army truck. The green covered air pack is the air tank from the chassis white glue tissue covered and on thin plastic sheet stock. Sad that the only available fire engine kit readily available is 50 years old and it is a replica of a by gone company. Original photo: Edited January 30, 2023 by GLMFAA1 grammer 1
vincen47 Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Not bad at all for 50 years old. Be sure to show some post-rehab photos. The canvas cover is a nice addition. I agree, it’s too bad there’s not much else available in fire apparatus models.
Joe Nunes Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 It is always nice to see the older model builds brought out again. When this fire truck first arrived on the shelves it was quite exciting to see it. Thanks for sharing. ? Joe
Chariots of Fire Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 That kit and the ladder and Aero Chief kits have been the source of a lot of frame and running gear parts for my builds. All are basically good kits except for some of the details which are a bit on the klunky side. Greg knows this but on the box art, they turned the hard suction ends wrong end in. The Hale pump is great. I have two builds done; one of the pumper and another of the rear mount aerial. They can be kit bashed all kinds of ways.
leafsprings Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Great looking ALF. Details and upgrades look spot on. Classic's never go out of style!
GLMFAA1 Posted February 21, 2023 Author Posted February 21, 2023 It's back from the rehab shop. trashed kit mirrors for MPC Van mirrors, new hose load, added intersection lights on bumper and rotator bases, aluminum ladder, new tarp color, new booster hoses, refreshed chrome, radio antenna, axe holders, removed air bottle rack, new upholstery in interior, new glass, rubberized hand grips, refreshed pump panel, improved front turn signals bezels by recessing amber piece, and new rear rotator beacons (bottom is chrome version and top is red plastic originals. Body given clear coat of future floor wax. hopefully good for another 50 years. greg
