Guest Darkside Customs Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 (edited) Ok,so I'm real anxious to jump on this one... Got this the other day off eBay for 40 bucks shipped in mint condition.... Hahaha.... You can only imagine what I'm planning.... Inspired by a fellow builder that goes by Minidreams... I plan on opening this up and using a Grand National as a donor... Will not be usin the 6 cyl... Gonna dig through the stash for a choice motor for this.... Edited June 17, 2012 by Harry P.
Fat Brian Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I would skip trying to use the Grand National as a donor, it's 1/24 and most likely too big to fit inside this body. I would use the new Revell 72 Cutlass kit. It it what was actually in the car for real and is the same scale, you can pick one up at Micheals or Hobby Lobby for around $12-$15 with a 40% off coupon.

Already checked and it's almost a perfect match..,, Got it torn apart and ready to start doing some test fitting of the Grand National Chassis....
Guest Darkside Customs Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Chassis almost fits perfect.... Just some trimming and it should be good to go... Doubt I'll use these rims... Just wanted to see...
W-409 Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 This needs 15" wheels with High profile tires. They would look very good on this, I just don't dig those big wheels.
Guest Darkside Customs Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I'm not usin the wheels either... I just wanted to see what it would look like... I think I hit the wrong button also... This is a 75 Cutty.... Not a 76...
Guest Darkside Customs Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Trimmed the chassis, and it fits perfect... Cutlass interior tub fits with no problem... It's a choice of either supremes or wires....
george 53 Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 That's a 24th scale chassis under there? FIRST time i've ever seen one fit into a 25th scale body so well, almost like it was made for it! It's comming out REALLY good!!!
TooOld Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Trimmed the chassis, and it fits perfect... Cutlass interior tub fits with no problem... It's a choice of either supremes or wires.... It looks really sharp with the first set of wheels ! Save the wires for later .
Guest Darkside Customs Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Yes sir, that's 1/24 scale chassis.... Got the hood cut out....
george 53 Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I'm likein this James! My kinda build. turnin a promo into a REAL model with details.lookin forward to seein how you do,Bro.
Guest Darkside Customs Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Thanks George.... I'm sure gonna try...
Guest Darkside Customs Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Put in a few more minutes worth of work... Got the engine bay in...
Guest Darkside Customs Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Thanks bro! Yea I'm kinda diggin the supremes myself...
Bartster Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Very cool project. Nice job on the engine bay, l'm gonna watch this.
JamesW Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Definatly looks better with the supremes bro. The funny thing is, I'm not the biggest fan of supremes. LOL
Guest Darkside Customs Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Lol... Bro, I used to hate supremes with a passion but I like em now...
JamesW Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 They look good on certain cars, and on that Cutty they look right at home.
Casey Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 I kind of like the larger spokes from the '85 Monte SS kit. The Cutlass has big enough wheel arches to allow big tires/wheels to work.
Modellpularn Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Nice work you put into this one! And the Supremes are lookin' soo good! Lose the donk wheels to ehh whatever.... locomotive maybe, or a big truck.
