Skydime Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) Jonathan, I love that color. I'm not a huge "Exotic" car fan but, Mercielagos are just so cool. Is that paint you are using acrylic? I know it's Scale Finishes but, I've never used their paint. Plus, I've noticed that acrylics have so many color choices and I am thinking of breaking out the airbrush for the first time this summer. Yes it is, I would give the paint a try, I am pretty sure you will not be disappointed , and the customer service is top rate as well
gotnitro Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Looks good! I some day would like to give this kit a shot
martinfan5 Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 Making a bit of progress, let the paint sit for a days, then started to get the clear coat on it, seems the only pics I took off the camera(then formated) were the mock up ,so here is a mock and clear shot in one , will get to my mess up in a little bit and work on the interior
martinfan5 Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 So here is the mess up, as you can see, I painted the top part of the doors black, well, they should be body color, in my hast to get the doors masked to do the black trim, I just completely over looked that part, so , was trying to see if I could remove the black, yeah, of course it wasnt going to work, and now the kick in nads, believe it or not, the body took an entire 2oz bottle of paint, so I now have buy another 1oz bottle of paint to fix my mistake, even then, a 1oz bottle of paint is more then I am going to need . and the rest of the black paint on the engine cover and tail Headlights done and in place, as the lower grills , and taillights and rear grills
slusher Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 It really looks good Jonathon, its your call but so many cars have black on the doors and trim you could leave them black. I would have not known. Its your call...

I outlined the area that I am talking about, that is supposed to be body color, if you follow that line back, I would have to paint a lot stuff black for it all to match up, not going to happen
Roncla Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 There is always a fish hook ready to catch you out somewhere along the line. I'm wondering if you may have a color matching issue when you repaint those areas. it looks like another great kit from Aoshima and your build is doing it justice
lanesteele240 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Nice work. I think aoshima have passed fujimi and if they keep it up, the other big japanese kit will be in trouble.
martinfan5 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 After getting some paint, finally got the doors repainted and finished Here you see the metal prop rods for the doors and door installed and in the closed position, I have to say, the fit of the doors when closed is pretty bad, more on the drivers side, now I am not sure if its a result of the builder, and its too late to try and find a way to fix it
Nacho Z Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Glad to see you're still at it. The doors came out very well. Glad you were able to fix it. I'm with Gary, I think it looks cool with the doors opened.

dino246gt Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I've rarely seen a kit with opening doors that actually fit properly, besides, why bother with opening doors if you're going to display it with them closed? I think if they open, show it that way! Your Lambo looks fabulous, display it with the doors open! Ciao, Dino
Skydime Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 I would definitely go doors up! It looks better that way, IMHO. You worked hard redoing those doors and they should be shown off. And the previous comment about kits with opening doors closing right is generally the truth.
martinfan5 Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 I think I am ready to call this one finished, will get the finished photo's taken soon
