There is, Mark.

We've mentioned it before, and it's on the calendar. But, there've been so many other things going on locally, we've tried not to step on toes.

A few of us were in Tucson yesterday for their swap meet and first model car contest.

Promotion for Desert Scale Classic 9 will kick off tonight.

Jonathan is correct ... third Saturday of April. Every year. This year it's April 20.

( * We try to provide some geographic balance to that other contest that's taking place that same Saturday ... since not everyone can travel to Joisey. )

  • Same location: The Postal Workers Social Hall in Phoenix.
  • Same hours.
  • Same admission (none).
  • Same entry fees.
  • Same swap meet.
  • Same contest format.
  • Same raffle.
  • Same Make-n-Take for kids.
  • Same refreshments.
  • Same ... wait for it ... after-event barbeque get-together. Great food, great beverages, great friends, great stories, a visit to the inner sanctum of one of the area's best modelers, and hot rod music presented by the World's Only Mime-DJ!
  • Same advance online contest entry registration (it'll be updated and up-and-running shortly).
  • Same great place to get together with modelers from all over the Southwest.
  • Same GREAT weather.
  • Same great event to visit and enjoy before heading north to GSL.

I know most everyone is busy getting ready for next weekend's GoodGuys Spring Nationals, but don't forget to mark your calendars for Desert Scale Classic 9!

It's coming up in just 7-1/2 short weeks! April 20, 2013.

Two quick notes about DSC9 :

1) We will be offering online pre-registration, just like last year. Bear with us ... the website is currently resisting updates, but as soon as our highly-touted webadministrator gets it tweaked, we'll announce availability for pre-registration online!!!

2) There are changes to the classes. The new class list and rules will be posted here, widely circulated at other sites and via email, and ... well ... on the website as soon as that highly-touted webadministrator gets it fixed!

Sure hope I can make it. I have not been to a show/swap for at least 7 years. I would also like to meet some of you fine folks in person.
