Modelbuilder Mark Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I have not seen any flyers in the hobby shop, and I did not see the show listed on the club site, (unless I am looking at an old URL). Is there not going to be a Desert Scale Classic in Phoenix this year?
martinfan5 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 April 20, Saturday: Desert Scale Classic 9 Swap Meet & Contest
Danno Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 There is, Mark. We've mentioned it before, and it's on the calendar. But, there've been so many other things going on locally, we've tried not to step on toes. A few of us were in Tucson yesterday for their swap meet and first model car contest. Promotion for Desert Scale Classic 9 will kick off tonight. Jonathan is correct ... third Saturday of April. Every year. This year it's April 20. ( * We try to provide some geographic balance to that other contest that's taking place that same Saturday ... since not everyone can travel to Joisey. ) Same location: The Postal Workers Social Hall in Phoenix. Same hours. Same admission (none). Same entry fees. Same swap meet. Same contest format. Same raffle. Same Make-n-Take for kids. Same refreshments. Same ... wait for it ... after-event barbeque get-together. Great food, great beverages, great friends, great stories, a visit to the inner sanctum of one of the area's best modelers, and hot rod music presented by the World's Only Mime-DJ! Same advance online contest entry registration (it'll be updated and up-and-running shortly). Same great place to get together with modelers from all over the Southwest. Same GREAT weather. Same great event to visit and enjoy before heading north to GSL. Questions answered ... most for free!
Modelbuilder Mark Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 Fantastic, I was just really looking forward to the show this year and wanted to make sure it was on. I tried to make it to the Tucson show but it turned out to be a bust for me.
