Thanks! Though the Hemi is never a bad choice, I wanted the 440 just to be different. The emblems were foiled after paint, since the Belvedere part is fairly large and an easy rectangle. The GTX and the 426 Hemi script was hand painted with Model Master Chrome, since there’s no way I could foil tiny letters. I’ve never tried foiling before paint. Something for the next project I guess.

Ok, had a few minutes to get more pictures. I added power steering using the fan belt and pump from the Revell ‘69 Charger. I had to cut off the bracket and put it on the back of the pump to get it to look like it’s bolted to the engine. I can’t stand the floating alternator and steering pump anymore. The interior is pretty basic, as is the chassis. I detail painted the firewall. Other then basic engine wiring and plumbing, this will be a box stock build. When I get to the 440/auto GTX I’ll go farther detail wise. Man I need to sort out the lighting situation at my desk!

I’ve got a good start on this one, painted Tamiya rattle can Metallic Orange with black interior. The original plan was to do a 440/auto, but I messed up and forgot to remove the Hemi badges, so it’s a Hemi now. I’ve got the foiling and half the badges done, the engine minus the wiring, and most of the interior. I’ll have to get more pictures after dinner, but I’ve got a few to share now.

This marks the 5th year (I think?) that I’ve entered this contest, and the third year my kids have entered with me. My kids (8 yr old boy, 12 yr old girl, 14 yr old boy) each entered one build in the junior class, and I entered 10 builds, all in civilian automotive (one in compitition, two in street, and seven in Factory Stock). This year they awarded ribbons for first, second and third (red, blue and white respectively) instead of medals that they’ve done previously. The kids won all three, with my daughter winning the Greg Empy award for outstanding junior entry. Very proud of them! I won 5 ribbons. Factory Stock; Red ribbon and best of class award- ‘69 Daytona Blue ribbon- ‘69 GTX White ribbon- ‘71 Duster Street; Red ribbon- ‘70 GTX Competition; Blue ribbon- ‘68 Dart Everyone had fun seeing what there was to see. It was great seeing the kids figuring out how other people did certain things, and hearing them plan what they want to do for next years contest (though I still haven't talked my wife into building one yet!). The red Ferrari is my oldest sons (red ribbon). The flamed Willy’s truck is my daughters (blue ribbon). The gold GTO is my youngest sons (white ribbon). The rest are mine, most or all of which I’ve posted here before.

Thanks everyone! I did get the gasket done, I’d tried a section on the bottom with an ultrafine black sharpie a few days ago. It looked good, so I did the rest last night. A word of caution though, even the test spot on the bottom is still wet! Not sure how long it will take to dry, or if it ever will. Oh well, it’ll go into a display case and very rarely get touched! The show/contest went great, I won Best Factory Stock - Dealer Delivered and a red ribbon (first place) with this car, as well as a few other ribbons with a few of my other builds. My three kids also entered and each won a ribbon, (they’re 8, 12 and 14), my daughter winning an award as well. I’ll post pictures as soon as I’m home.

I built this one for a small local show (that starts tomorrow actually!). Painted Tamiya Coral Blue, with a wired and plumbed 440 engine with a Fireball Modelworks Carter AVS 4 bbl carb. I used the wheels and caps from the ‘68 Charger special edition kit. I love the look of the steelies on this, gives it more of an all go and no show type feel. I ran out of time to do the black gasket on the nose, and I didn’t want to rush it and ruin anything this close to the show. I may add it on later.

Alright, all finished and over in Under Glass.

Thanks! Yes it is a Fireball carb, a Carter AVS.

Thanks! Wiring engines definitely isn’t easy, but worth it. I finished the engine and got the glass in the body. Onto the interior tonight!

Got some foil and detail work done to the body, and some preliminary engine work done. Next up will be wiring and vacuum lines.

Figured I might as well do a wip on this one. I’m hoping to have it done by the 4th for a local contest. Painted Tamiya Coral Blue, it will have a white interior and white tail stripe. Engine will be a wired and plumbed 440, and the steel wheels from the special edition ‘68 Charger kit.

Thank you everyone! The yellow turned out better then I thought it would. The tires are pre-lettered, thankful for that! I don’t mind hand lettering tires, but pre done ones are definitely better for my eyes!

One more for the shelf! 1971 Plymouth Duster 340, in the closest I could find to Bahama Yellow. My wife chose the colour combo. I did this one box stock for a local contest. A decent kit, but final body-chassis assembly is a nightmare, and the decals don’t lay down great (hence the missing tail panel decals). All told, fairly happy with it. Sorry for the background clutter, I haven’t set up any kind of photo area yet!

Thanks everyone! I was actually going to change out the exhaust completely, it I couldn’t find anything I had that would even remotely fit. So I cut the kit exhaust off the axle and went with it. I might open it up if the mood hits me.

The six pacs from Fireball are awesome! I put them on a ‘70 GTX and they look great! I have a bunch of different carbs and wheels from them, and his stuff is top notch!

Thanks everyone! I did this one for a local show coming up in May. This is one of the few MoPars I didn’t already have on the shelf.
-
Ha! Not sure I can get that flipped around without pulling everything apart.
-
Got this one done. Not a great kit, but it goes together ok. Paint is Tamiya metallic blue. Intake and six pac set up are Fireball Modelworks. I saw a picture online of a GTX without the stripe package, and I thought it looked pretty good, so no stripes. (I didn’t have any anyways!). Wired and plumbed engine, otherwise box stock.

Thanks! I don’t have any more pics right now, and none of the interior before it went together, but I can snap a few more tomorrow. -

Thanks! The Color is Tamiya TS-58 Pearl Loght Blue. -
Great build! Did the engine parts and scoop come from the Hemi dart kit?
