Thanks for all the kind words! I just got off of working nights, and got a little bit accomplished. The engine bay is done, hopefully it holds together when I jam it into the body! I always hate that stage of a build...

I never thought of trying that, I'll try it out after the show and see how it looks, thanks for the tip! showrods, do you mean the distributor cap? To the front passenger side of the air filter? If so, that's Tamiya dark yellow acrylic. The white is just X-2 Tamiya acrylic white.
-
Thanks! The engine is Testors orange (in the square 1/4 oz bottle), the filter is the same. the washer bottle was done with a coat of flat white, then regular white (both Tamiya acrylic).

Speedfreak mine is the little square 1/4 oz bottle, #1185. Snake45 I have used yellow in the past, but only for racing or hotrodded engines.
-
Thanks! The manifolds are painted Testors rust. They're nicely done pieces, and the texturing shows through paint nicely.

Belugawrx that's exactly it! Works fairly well, but they have to be sharp.

Thanks for all the comments guys! The gauges I detailed with white and red pencils crayons and painter the trim rims chrome silver. I actually built this car to match a 1:18 diecast I have. The only difference is that the diecast has steeples and redlines, but I couldn't add them and stay in the box stock category. I might change them over after the contest. The paint is a wee bit rough, I'm not sure how (or if it's even possible) to polish a metallic paint smooth without it loosing it's color. The clear helped it feel smoother at least!

Yup, it's the "new and improved" BMF. Seems to work and look good. Thanks for the comments!

I'm trying to get this one banged out for a local contest to sit with a box stock Super Bee. I'm a fair ways into this one already, so I should be able to keep up with a wip! Color is Tamiya sky blue, the interior is white. I went with a 440 4bbl, with the intake and coil from the Revell '68 Charger, and the carb from the AMT '71 Charger. It's wired and plumbed, though not quite done yet. I'm also adding bits from the '68 Dart (door handles, wipers and whatever else strikes my fancy). I've got a set of the pad printed Polyglass tires to throw on.

This was a quickish box stock build for a local show/contest to sit next to a '69 GTX I'm also trying to get done. Done in Tamiya gold with two shots of clear, black interior. This is the first successful BMF job I've done. I'm not super happy with the gold paint, had a few bits of crud in it, but in a house with three kids, two cats and a dog the size of a minature horse, I called the third repaint good enough!

Brake fluid is also an old stand by of mine, takes a bit longer to work, but won't harm the plastic at all.

Thanks for the replies! We do have a few of the older models with the round headlights, just not my ride. I ended up calling to the Toyota dealer that supplies these for us, they said it's an HZJ model. I googled it, and it's the one. No luck on diecast a or kits. I'll look closely into the options above, and see if my scratch building is up to the task!

Thanks for the comments! Nice to run into a few locals here!

I've been a MoPar guy for many years. Since I pulled a '66 Sport Fury from an old mans back yard where it sat for who knows how long, and it fired right up with just some fresh gas. Been buying and rebuilding then ever since. My den shelves and stash are 99% MoPars. Pm for you Freakshow12.

Ah yes. The Cuda and Super Bee were a few of the ones I was most impressed with! Was the yellow Mustang with the opened doors and trunk yours as well? If I recall, mine were just down the table a bit from yours.

It was a fun experience. Some real nice stuff there. Maybe we met there? I didn't hang about much, too much other stuff to see, and I had my son with me. But I did meet a couple guys.

Thanks! The contest was in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. Hosted by the model club there.
-
I'm not sure why it jumbled up the order of the photos there, sorry about that! The Charger is metalic blue, the Super Bee is Gunmetal, the Dart Lime Ice green, and the GTX copper.

I built the '68 Charger and the '70 Super Bee specifically for a local contest (out of box division), the '68 Dart and '69 GTX I had already on the shelf (detailer division). I didn't win anything, but then I only entered for the fun of it. I bettered myself in a few ways, but rushed through and messed up a few things. All in all, nice cars to have on the shelf. Enjoy, and all comments welcome! (Sorry for the sub-par photos, my iPhone is the only camera I currently own)
