It killed a guy here a couple weeks ago. The irony is the guy was a Holocaust survivor and it was the liverwurst that finally killed him. Why did I go there? I've been eating that stuff (not liverwurst ?) when Wifey shops at Kroger. No more for me, thank you. I'm good. ?

OK, then. Good point about fumes. What about brand?
-
Yeah, mine's going out in the garage with all the pre-war fenders from AMT kits.
-
My experience with it hasn't been very good, Bil. I've had to leave a body in full strength "Purple Power" for weeks before it did anything significant. Is there a particular brand that is preferable? The fastest chrome stripper I have found is a commercial grade grill and oven cleaner. That stuff did the job in a minute or less but original "Easy-Off" in the yellow can does a fairly good job but takes several minutes. I wear "Viper" gloves with all that stuff ?...and a mask.

Rich's idea sounds good, Len, or you could just use the seat out of one of your '41 Plymouth kits. ?
-
Don't hold your breath, Len. BTW, do you think those four chex are imbeded in silicone bathtub caulk to pose for that photo?(the chex that I know don't behave that well ?) And incidently, I don't find any of the Chex cereals to be of the same quality since being sold off by that dog food outfit. Oh...and stay away from Boar's Head products for a while. ?

Oh yes. The worst thing you can do is try to stop it from hitting the floor. Just get out of the way and let it happen. You have got to fight the impulse. I'm always barefoot and a #11 surgical blade heading toward Earth @32'/sec/sec with only my foot to slow it down...not a happy ending ? BTW, those pretty clamps are quite useful for keeping our pretzels and rice chex fresh ?

Well....let's see...OK, my personal transportation includes an old Ranger and I can vouch for its tenacity and endurance and although it's clear coat is deteriorating, sadly, the old Ranger is still like a twenty-mule-team. As far as new wife/ old wife....the jury is still out. ? "Crazy" manifests in different ways. Agreed. David seems to be on the cutting edge here. ? Uh oh, we're doing it again ?

That looks like some of the cars I used to drive on the roads in Cranston back in the '80s

Thanks, Lenny, good save ☺️

Is There Room For Another 41 Plymouth or Two?

Coil springs and A-frames up front, Len. Should be fun, though. ? maybe you could splice the front half....well, you know. -
'57 El Nomado

Oh yes. The '55 is pure magic. It looks like you've been in a few salvage yards, David. ?. The rear plate bracket is pretty special. For an Ohio car, I think maybe you were a little bit too kind though. She actually looks like she might still have floors . I dunno, I might try to find out how much they want for it. ? Now that other beast...The Road Warrior is one of my all-time faves....are those snow tires? Where'd you get those? I love snow tires! Especially the ones with the studs ?. I can still hear them grinding down West Shore road in mid-March. But I digress....those are both gems, Dave. Got any more? Not much going on here right now so feel free! After seeing that awesome ?-box Nova WIP, I'm chomping at the bit. The '57 I just got is a prime candidate for a job like that. And I won't be kind ?. EDIT: just looked at the link, Dave. I got a few ideas from it. Really super weathering and general flavor. How many of f these 1:1s have we seen like this a half century ago. I remember trying to talk my dad into one like this....well, it was a little nicer ? but I wanted a '55 Chevy and I never got one.? -
If you found something easy, Len, you'd find a way to to turn it into another '41 Plymouth woody. ? By the way, it might be time for some new clothes pins. ? Very cool project, Len. Gotta watch this one.

Is There Room For Another 41 Plymouth or Two?
customline replied to LennyB's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Allow me to be the first to congratulate you on two jobs well done. I hope you learned your lesson but if you ever are tempted to grab another of these '41 Plymouth kits because it's a cheap score, I will not be sympathetic. Seriously, though, they both look great, Len! Now you can marry the Ford nose to the Plymouth body. THAT would be something ?. -
'57 El Nomado
customline replied to customline's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Chain yanking is always allowed on my threads, Greg. It's a nice break from all that model car nonsense. Today I received another '57 Chevy. Same as the "Pepper Shaker", an ebay prize for like $13. Open box, missing a few things. Brown ?. I bought a Pepper Shaker a while back in the same condition and the blown 409 was not there. I open today's prize and the chrome trees were still sealed ?. Then I pull out some trees and ....wait....I only see three engine block halves. Natually, half of my 409 is missing. No more five-sevens for me ( I knew a guy that talked like that.... "my 5-7 this", "my 5-7 that"...he had a nice '57 Bel Air hardtop and he was quite enamored with it. Probably why I'm not crazy about them.)..... I just decided to do it "High School Dropout Greeezuh from South Providence driven pigged-out rust-bucket ". And I'm going to borrow an idea from that '78 Nova beater thread that has me all inspired. Can't wait. ? On a lighter note... I managed to fashion a reasonable bumper/ grille thing today. As you may know, I cut the kit grille apart to shorten it and attach the upper trim where it belongs so that when the hood is open, it looks more like the 1:1. This necessitated modifying the fenders because now the bumper is a bit higher and well...anyway, I'm not quite done with the bondo work but here's what I've got so far. I had to use two kit grilles to do it. No big loss. And there you have it! It's a little off but (to me, at least) it looks better than the way Monogran did it. I'm keeping my options on the table, though, the bed trim thing looks like it won't work out because the trim is just too small and will be difficult to foil. I may have to abandon that and well.... I dunno. Thanks for listening to me talk to myself. -
You can almost smell the "smoke" and gasoline. I miss it ?

'57 El Nomado
customline replied to customline's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yeah, I know, I know....I just thought it was pertinent. It's my thread, Greg. ?.... no really, though, the point was the accuracy or lack thereof. I did wander off ( I do that occasionally) but this '55 really surprised me. I had been thinking about it, knowing it was malingering on my laundry room shelf (they're everywhere) and it bore the Monogram logo. It's clearly not a old Monogram kit (which was my memory of it) so in view of my current endeavors, I am greatly encouraged. I'll get back to "El Nomado" soon enough. I could get primer on it today, the weather should be perfect to get some paint done. The impulse to start this '55 is very powerful, though. It's a very good kit. The only thing that would make it better would be a separate frame. -
Oh...and the spring shackles...a really nice touch. ☺️

You people are all crazy ?
-
Watch where you step, Bil, maybe Bulwinkle has been there too. ? ?
-
YES! THE PLASTIC AND DUCT TAPE ON THE QUARTER WINDOW HOLE! FREAKING BRILLIANT! ? I hope you don't mind if I use that ?
-
Yup, sorry. I need to stay out of this stuff.
