Great camper idea folks!
MsDano85gt replied to MsDano85gt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
this big kid needs one x 2 get one older truck and the newer ford and (2 campers) wonder if its at walmart online and cheaper?? -
I received a lightning parts truck in trade...... so i broke out my f150 "shortbox" to see what i needed (mirrors, fronts clear headlamp lenses, a fuel tank, svt rims,) decals as well and i can rebuild a "lightning" gen 1 truck the interesting thing is..... i thought lightning trucks were 8' bed full box trucks? the regular f150 "shortbed" truck is the exact same bed and size as the lightning! i actually need to remove all the mouldings on the sides of the lightning to actually make it a legit lightning..... the shortbed truck is a great kit tho has awsome custom parts and a "fishnet" air tailgate nice running boards and ground effects will see where these trucks go from here

I get these pretty regularly from my job first time i saw one i knew exactly what they needed to be used for MODEL CARS!!! they are some sort of isolator on original factory toyota windsheilds(front) the yellow things are guide pins that the factory robot on assembly line used to place the glass in holes in the pinchweld of the body long story short i chuck the plastic pegs and save the round foam pcs they work great for aircleaners like the ones in the johan rambler s/c kits for the aircleaner to hood gap for "ram air" muscle cars i'm sure they can be trimmed and modified for say tri power gtos?? if anyone need some of these just pm me and it may not be right away.....(postage stamps are expensive ) nowdays but when i'm able to i can send some...... as gimmies ( i get them free and want to pass this on)

saw this at wally world don't have the money to get one "yet" looks like all the windows are painted black unsure if any door opens or not but the camper appears to be plastic so would the open road camper be a canidate for donation could be a fun project to gut and modify and stick in any 70's or newer truck they also have a more modern 97' up ford 4x4 with the same camper thought i would share

Boondocker becomes Boondragger...
MsDano85gt replied to chadrob30's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
looks cool think i'm going to do something similar with a "thunderbolt" mosnster truck i got hold of parts truck no decals or monster parts... are you or will you be using the hardtop from the boondocker? if not i'm interested as i'm going to build a slightly lifted 4x4 blazer custom..... a top would be awsome! -
that guys truck was white as far a s know hes a local from down here in ms wasn't a out of towner in for cruisin the coast...... got a gen 1 that needs rebuild and some tlc missing wheels mirrors, and top half of the engine, so i dug out my f150 amt shortbed truck kit its the kit that comes with some awsome accesories ground effects nice bed accesories and fishnet tailgate as well it appears that the lightning may have come from that kit?? as you mentioned you had to "remove" all the belt mouldings on the sides to make it lightning correct? i may be able to make my own clear plastic lenses for the headlamps as those are m.i.a. too but its cool to have a rebuilder to get started on along with the hundred or so others!!
-
are you talking about the model king ford pickup truck longbed?? thats the last known issued anything ford pickup related from 70's from amt that i know of.....
-
at least the paint seems to be a shiney white?!? right? i try to at least pick out some positive from all things negative......... awww shucky crud darn blew my motor awell least now i can rebuild it better
-
another possibly silly question, is the dual tanks a normal feature for "lightning" thanks for filling me in on the other details a gen 2 owner showed me a cell phone video of his lightning at "cruisin the coast" this past october. Before vs after he ported his super charger wicked difference!! makes me want to port the charger on my saturn!!

looks great!! if you touch up the emblems with bmf or even silver paint and put some white lettering on the spare tire cover the truck will really pop out! keep up the great work!! -
