  1. I own a diecast 1996 cummunins dodge truck that rich bickel drove, after years of setting on a shelf, I noticed some paint and potmetal issues, I also noticed that the truck lacks in detail. I took that truck last night and drilled out the ribits that hold the body to the chassis and disasembled it. 1st I touched up the paint, then I added a few other contigincy decals. This diecast was very primatitve, window net was primer color , wheels that are supposed to be blue are black, seat was gray and underside lacked no color details, headlights were silver paint ,winshield bars are not painted, and the grille lacked the black insers. currently I am correcting what shortcommings are with this kit. I will say that Racing champions built the truck, but I will post pix this weekend that show ,I made the truck. I am finding out that rebuilding is just as hard as building. When I post the pictures I will let you be the judge.
  2. I see no problem with Jacen's post, I do not feel he (or anyone else) should get slamed for posting opinions, this is an opinion based thread. thanks for all of your imput.
  3. my first idea at diecast bashing will be a #400 racing champions 57 olds convertable, I will strip it and recreate a richard petty's first race car.

  9. If i purchased a lets say #99 nascar Carl Edwards ford fusion, disaseembled it,stripped off all of the paint and painted and redecaled it to look like an aric amerorola smithfield foods car , and then reasembled it, would this be considered a model car that I built? most of the newer cars are not available in model kits so, i am trying to find ways to build cars to add to my petty collection without buying , resins , decals, donor kits ect because that can be really expensive. what are your thoughts ?
  10. The goal is to make the car look like this but white, it wont be exact because, i have to hand paint a lot of items that there are no decals available for

  20. kit i was talking about has too big of hole in hood , bought a 3n1 camaro instead - i'll surprise you all with how that can be a petty car!
  21. Thanks - I'll try something new,
  22. Thank you so much - don't get me wrong , I have kitbashed before see my 70 roadrunner, but not to this extent. usually , I would slip in a few roll bars and add different wheels to a stock kit and paint it and be on my merry way , much like I did with my superbird build back in 01 (which is located here http://pettymodelcar...lbumid=14026589 ), but this car is the first that is really looks like a race car, not just a street car with a couple of add on parts. Thanks for all the help. I got lots more to build . My next kit will be the '72 charger 1/16 scale streetburner kit- I am searching the net now for someone who will sell me the 1985 43 stp decals from the pontiac 1/16 kit - i can make those work. If memory serves that charger is set up already as a stock car with rollcage and chassis and wheels. we shall see! going to Hobby Lobby tommorow with my 40% off coupon.
  23. here is the finished product except for the engine , the hemi is on its way! Thanks to all who contributed to this build. This was by far the most challenging build I have ever built. I am experienced out of the box but a novice when it comes to combining parts from other kits. I hadfun with it though. I have had troubles with my pictures sizes recently so these are just thumbnails , if you would like to see the whole build click here> There are 116 photos http://pettymodelcar...lbumid=13852726
  24. I am going to use the manifold - the car is now finished except for the engine bay . I purchased a junk kit allready assembled off of ebay just for the hemi engine .Waiting on that to complete. Thanks so much for all you guys help , I will update the pix this pm , quick ? on this car is the engine orange or dark blue. The hemi on display in RP the museum in Randelman is dark blue .
