He used to go to all the public functions...especially the picture theaters. And always carried a Sugar Bag to collect empty bottles and cans. His name was... Albert (Tapper) Torney. Everyone thought he was a bit eccentric and kids would tease and hassle him. But it was discovered he was very talented and only sold the empty bottles and some of the cans. After he died in 1998 (aged 86) His large collection of Model Cars he made from the Aluminum Cans was discovered. This goes to prove..."You Shouldn't Judge A Book by its Cover", or a Sculptor by his sugar bag. Some of his collection ---- Amazing!

yesterday I was cleaning out that drawer I have in my garage that comprises of all the model cars that have fell in disarray through out the years.I ran across a build that I did many many years ago. just before going to trash it , i realized it would not take much to resurect, so I rummage through the rest of the drawer where ,i found the bumpers, hood , and grille, i came up with a set of wheels and tires that would look correct and fit, from there it was only adding a couple of decals on the hood and trunk missed on the 1st build and touch up a few spots before a fresh coat of clear. I am glad I saved this petty 68 roadrunner, especially since i cant find a 68 roadrunner now, all i see are 69's. hope you enjoy yes i did put it in the freezer for disassembly.

ok new name to thread kitbashed 1970 plymouth roadrunner by petty LOL

you know that i am into petty cars and this build is no different. pettys garage builds some chalengers for sale to the public, below are some of those real cars and pix of the kit i am building one of those out of. I am disapointed with the challenger kit as it is almost a snap together kit, it does not have an engine but the hood is separate from the car. This kit will look like the pix the king is is except I will add white R/T stripes and Dodge by Petty on the rear quarters

I know - stock car tires and wheels are too big but it would not do to use street tires on an after 1969 racecar, as stated in the 1st post , it is not exact , it is just a representation. thanks for all the comments on this kit. I have other petty kits in the works
-
maybe it is my interpretaition of the definition. This kit is not a dedicated Petty roadrunner parts were from a roadrunner kit, amt ford tbird kit , amt nascar kit for wheels, yes some of the roll cage is scratch built, as were the headlight, tailight covers, and rear spoiler some of this kit even came from a dodge dart dragcar kit. I beleive if a kit doesn't exist and you make it with what you have available then it is scratch built. I could be wrong.

thanks for all of the kind words
