  1. Love the red and white combo... that really pops out at ya.... great job.. beautiful just beautiful..... Tom
  2. The 427 lightweights were all white cars this was a 427 build as if it was not a lightweight....as for the N designation I will make that change.from what i have been getting here a D should be a better choice for a stock 427 Fairlane..thank you for the information on that.... as for the shock mounts, i know they are missing... this kit should have had them on such a nice kit ..... have some resin ones coming so I can add them.....as soon as I have them they will be installed....ordered them about 2 weeks ago so I should have them shortly.....
  3. Was going for the look of somone getting the stock fairlane from the dealer popping the hubcaps off adding some slicks and going to the track then puttingvthe stock tires on it and driving it home.....did not build as a lightweight car .... but a weekend warrior from the late 60s...thank you for the great feedback and I can change the N stock designation in the future....was going by the figures of a stock fairlane 1/4 mile times from 66 with no major mods.....
  4. Cut opened the trunk hinged it and made the edging ledge around the perimeter...

  8. Andy Same thing happens to all of us.... weather its a distributor, carbs, rearends turbos etc etc etc.....i have mad 10 things before i have gotten it right.... as said before practice makes perfect... but not always the first time....still to this day takes sometimes 2,3,4 times to get it right... dont give up just look at things as the next challenge and the next hurtle to overcome.... its a hobby... have fun with it and things will work out the way you want... perseverance pays of.... Tom

Had that happen to me, but decided to try and catch it on way down.... momentum from my hand and the angle of the knife sent it full blade depth into my thigh.... with this a nice wet red spot started forming around knife...... thank god i did not hit any major blood carriers or nerves... but sure hurt for about 6 weeks.....still got the scar as a reminder not only not close your legs but dot try to catch it....
  14. you mean all cars have them now....??? by the way there not used by a lot of drivers i thought they were an option.....or a delete option....lol.... all kidding aside hand signals would be my guess as how they would indicate the direction they needed to go....

  16. Got my issue late last week and have been skimming over it over and over, great coverage and a great job by Gregg and Harry.... even got 2 of mine in there also....you guys always put out a great mag and look fwd to each and every one.....keep up the good work...
  17. Harry If there is no snorkel on the outside then the air may be plumbed into the cab, I have seen off road vehicles that use this type of system including off road swamp buggies and jeeps, also have seen them on some of the vehicles that transverse the jungles and need to make deep water crossings....
  18. Looking forward to mine coming soon....always great coverage and i also share Steve Z's sentiments...Gregg always does an outstanding job and i enjoy each and every issue of the magazine. Gregg I hope you get to feeling better... sorry we will miss the Big Kahuna at the NNL east.... stay well and get better buddy Mahalo pilialoha
  19. as you probably know rich... i buy at least 1 if not 2 of the kit in question, i will usually open it up inspect all the elements and then build it when i want to in the future.. i like going back into my kits and picking something different then what is out at the moment, been to shows and contests that when a new kit comes out just prior that there are a bunch on the tables, i like to stand out with something that is different from the current kits at that time.... not saying that if something i buy just is screaming at me i wont build it, just not as soon as they come out....
  20. Let me say this as a disclaimer: I am grateful for all i have and everyone and everything around me....! Saturday morning getting ready for work, beautiful morning figured i would take the bike to work, walk out to shed on way out smell something burning???? get bike out of shed start her up headlight not working... well got a couple of minutes before work, probably the fuse will check it out when i get to work, use driving lights no problem, swing bike around our motor home light catches black smoke coming from the coach hurry get off bike and open coach door, SMOKE rolls out... slam door call fire dept..... feels like it takes forever for them to get here, actually only minutes.... they go inside and say the fire burned itself out but did extensive damage, after they determined it was out they showed me the inside.... the whole inside is crispy to say the least... the fire never burned through the shell just smoldered inside they say for hours building heat.... melted the microwave oven glass, the TV screens and the light bulbs look like something from Van-go....Fire marshal comes and cannot determine where it started but somewhere he found some bare wires... don't know gotta wait for the report for that.....in the middle of all this my wife calls from Florida to wish me a good morning on my way to work as normal and i have to tell her the news.... boy was she upset....She was coming home Sunday, said she would be home early... i told her there was nothing she could do so take her time 1 additional day was not gonna do anything to help the situation ( SHE SAID SHE WAS WORRIED ABOUT ME...) finally get done with all the Fire dept , the fire marshal and the insurance stuff... call work not coming in, that was no problem under the circumstances... stop moving for a while figure im home im depressed and will take my aggression out on getting my 66 ford polished.....WRONG!!!! polish right through the paint......they say all things good and bad come in 3s... i believe someone was telling me something on Saturday that's for sure.. Now the grateful part of the whole story.... 1. No one was hurt...! 2 My wife wanted to use the Motor home to go to Fla for the week... just got a new radiator for it... had not gotten it in yet so that sorta shot that down, then she finds out she could not have brought it anyway as the biggest they could fit was a 28 footer ours is 36....she and her 2 girlfriends could and would have possibly been in it when this happened. 3 The Motor home was about 8 feet or less from the shed which had my motorcycle in it, the chief of the FD said if it had gotten out the shed probably would have gone also.... 4 The motor home is also only about 10 ft or so from the house. Again could have taken house also.... 5 it was only the fuse in the headlight 6 the ford is now root beer and waiting for a new clear coat.... Gotta say being a fireman for 20 years on long island, you try and console people who have had things like this happen by sayin, no one got hurt, or it can be replaced, etc etc trying to make them feel better, when the shoe is on the other foot... it really don't make it feel any better....sometime life throws you some curve ball... So all in all everyone is safe... my wife is back home....our family is all good.... so Saturday may have sucked , but LIFE IS GOOD Sorry for the long read.....may all of you and yours all be safe, happy and healthy.... Tom
  21. I would notice.... just like the universal joints....LOL
  22. NO NO NO........ even the slow setting on a dremel is way way way to fast.... burn the paint, primer, plastic....what a mess you would have on your hands.....stick to hand polishing... much much safer.... Tom
  23. Gregg you are exactly right how this works and breaks down, i have worked for the postal service for 29 years now and work in the office of my delivery and without fail i have mine a week to 10 days later then most here... this also happens with my other mags big circulation or not, not to many builders in the area get the mags i get and such as it is mine goes through multiple avenues before it reaches me, I have been lucky so far knowing how it works that i have only had one Model Cars mag get mutilated since i subscribed years ago.Thanx again for the great publication and keep up the great work.... P.S. hows the back doing? hope your doing better and Aloha to your family... Tom
