Such a lead pipe cinch and so wretchedly overdue, a boat-tail Riv.

Guess it's the "Version 2" that's the hangup.  Though I'd imagine Revell would feel scrapers have had their day, I gotta wonder if a low rider of just this one would justify the tooling expense as the second version.

Some big wheels and a new grill would make a second option viable. I am sure the Lowrider/Custom types would take it from there.

I know this is just an art piece, but it does show the possibility and feasibility of it

Yes, Eddie and Ercie were great, out on the tour! I was at the Mile High Nationals, shortly after his comeback to top fuel, when he was running The Texan car, and runnered-up to Larry Minor (I think). If I remember correctly, Minor waited, but they couldn't get Hill's car to fire, and Minor singled for the win--that whole place was loving them, that day! I was also there, the day he and Clayton (his last name's escaping me) both fireballed almost simultaneously, in the first round. It was right in front of me. Man, that was hot! There was a piece of melted slick, fused around a wire that crossed above the track for several years, after that.

Are you thinking of Clayton Harris?

Honestly if the Monogram kit didn’t have the weird oversize wheels and better tires, then it would be a perfect kit. Luckily Fireball has several great options now that would work for it!

Mmmh, this made me think, and yes, looks like a bit of photo editing went on back then for this release. The wheels look a bit out of sorts.

But, they look like that in real life.

Funny think about the Badman...it's what we consider to be a typical looking period gasser, looking at it with today's eyes...but the box art at the time referred to it primarily as a funny car:

Monogram Classics Model Kit Badman 1955 Chevy Street FunnyCar Mostly Built W/box | eBay

(I know this box is from the more recent reissue, but the copy is the same)

Yeah, Monogram and Revell where both way behind AMT and MPC on actual funny car kits, so these hacked together jobs filled the gap until they could make something newer. And when they did, well, the rest is history!
