Thanks, Dave and Carl! I appreciate your comments! Its been raining the last two days so I have been busy rubbing out the body and foiling it. Maybe I'll be able to finish painting tomorrow! The chrome trim for the back of the vinyl top might be a little wavy and the trim might be a little out of scale but overall it looks pretty good. Thanks for looking! ?

Finished painting the body. Two coats of primer, one wet coat of paint and one coat of clear lacquer. Looks pretty good to me. I'll rub it out tomorrow. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Carl, Bill and Mike! I appreciate your comments! I think my primer will cover OK. I just painted a Mopar Tor Red not long ago and so wanted a different color. I know that Sublime Green is a 1970 color as I always check the Auto Color Library on every build. But Testors has discontinued Green Go and that means I would have to purchase an ounce of MCW or some other cottage supplier's paint at an exorbitant price, plus shipping, and break out the air brush. I have a half can of Sublime Green so I might as well use it. I should have mentioned it wasn't a color for 1971 above, but I didn't. But thanks for the suggestions!

This is a 2015 re-issue of Dirty Donnie's AMT 1971 Dodge Charger, molded in wonderful orange plastic! Actually, I'm not sure its orange. I can't decide if it is Apricot or Tangerine. But either way, every part except a few chrome and clear parts is this ugly color. My wife likes the color and says I should just polish it and assemble it. But she is not a modeler. There are a couple of sink marks in the top where the dome light and interior mirror mount caused the dimples. So after I puttied and sanded those out I decided to do a vinyl top with some masking tape. There was also a lot of flash and some mold lines to get rid on the body. After I have all that done, it also has to be done on a number of other parts. Tomorrow, I will paint the top flat white and then tape it off to paint the rest of the body. Not sure what color but I might try Sublime Green after a couple of coats of primer. Thanks for looking! One-third done: Finished!

Thanks, David, Carl, and David! I appreciate your comments! Carl, the bronze is Testors One Coat which is now called Extreme Lacquer, I guess. it was followed by a coat of Testors Dullcote. David, don't worry about the visibility of the carb. I hollowed out the bottom of the air cleaner, initially to get the hood to shut. I used just a bit of handy-tack on the bottom so I can remove it for display. I have done that for other builds and it works very well for contests with the air cleaner on the fender. It took a couple of days to get the body, interior, and chassis to mate as well as attach all the other parts but finally got it done. I don't remember having that issue before but once I figured it out it went pretty well. The interior need to be really pushed tight into the body so that the chassis kinda snaps in place over the bottom of the interior. Then the front frame and radiator can be glued in place easily without putting the chassis in a bind and using clamps. Of course, because of the Fireball carb which is a little taller, the engine had to be pushed tight down into the frame and air cleaner bottom really thinned down. Here are a few pics and the one I built in 2013 in Testors Dark Bronze Metallic in the background in the last picture.

Jason, you should spray a light coat of clear lacquer on the decals to help keep them intact and doesn't affect the thickness with a light coat. I have done it many times and it seems to help. Good luck with your build!

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! I should have more today; maybe on wheels! Thanks for looking! ?

I started this Revell kit several days ago by painting the body while we had warm weather. I've built this kit before and its a nice kit. I saw in the color palate for this year that there was a light gold so I thought that Tamiya's Champagne Gold would be close. I've foiled the body, built the interior in bronze and constructed the engine with a few extra pieces. I used Fireball's Carter AVS carburetor and added plug wires, a fuel line, and a carburetor return spring. Here are a few pictures:

Thanks, Carl, Guido and Beamerman! I appreciate your comments! Its all together now. Seams I have to work on the front fender to push it down on the inner fender liner better as it has a bit of a tilt to it. Also I only had three Goodyear decals the same size so the right rear tire has a bit bigger Goodyear decal but I'll turn the wheel and push it up under the fender and no one will notice. I decided to foil and paint the marker lamps as I think it looks better than the decal. Unfortunately, one of the 350 decals fell off so I just painted it black. Its been raining so no outdoor pics but here are a few on the workbench. Thanks for looking! ?

I think you nailed it, Chris! I've got one of these in the closet and have had for about 20 years. It's an original issue that is molded in bright yellow plastic. I've always been afraid to attempt it! By the way, a friend of mine's dad had one of these back in the day. It was white on white. He didn't have it too long. Something about the motors for the convertible hardtop. Nice job on yours!

This is an MPC kit that I bought as part of a group of model kit and I was inspired to build it by Nacho Z's build of this kit. No engine shots as there is nothing to see there. Built box stock and the interior, chassis and engine compartment are inferior to most kits to say the least. The body was challenging but I think it came out OK. Mirrors were added from the parts box. Thanks for looking! ?

Here are finished pics of 1932 Ford Sedan High Boy. Several parts are from the parts box to complete an incomplete kit. Otherwise built box stock. I think I'll add some blackwash to the engine. Thanks for looking! ?

I finally got back to this one after getting sidetracked on a couple of other builds. Finished the interior using a Molotow pen, foil and the decals from the kit. Built up very nicely and looks pretty good! Thanks for looking! ?

Finished! Added headlights, taillights, license plate, door handles and chrome bars. The chrome bars, front, back and hood are .030" rod that were painted with a chrome pen (it took a while with a 1mm pen). I didn't want to put the tear-drop taillights on without a chrome bezel so I found another taillight in chrome that is suppose to be painted red for the lens and put the red lens on the kit on top of this taillight and it worked out perfect! So I was able to complete this incomplete kit with a few extra parts. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Andy! Almost done! Interior is installed and body mounted. Only a few more pieces of hardware and it will be done! Happ New Year and thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Dave! I appreciate your comment! Finished the chassis and rubbed out the body. Blackwashed the interior and raised the seats with some square tube evergreen. Steering wheel from the parts box and steering column from an old AMT 57 Chevy. This model is for show only so it has no door handles, window cranks or foot petals! LOL! Thanks for looking! ?

I've built this kit before and the second kit I had became a donor kit to a certain extent. I decided I wanted to built it as a High Boy so I scrounged around for some parts. I had robbed the floor previously to build a Vintage Beach Racer. So I used some plastic sheet to replace it. I found a Mustang 5.0 engine in the parts box which is one of the original engines in the kit or possibly came from the sister kit, the 5-window coupe. I thought I could find a front axle atie rod but nothing fit very well. So I opened another 5 window coupe kit and stole the front axle, shocks (to hold the headlights) and tie rod. I guess I'll have to face the incomplete kit dilemma somewhere down the line. Paint is Tamiya Light Blue with Krylon Almond interior and top. Here's the start:

Thanks, Mike, Carl and Ron! I appreciate your comments! I plan to take new outdoor photos and post in Under Glass but its raining today so I will have to wait for a better day! Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, John! I appreciate your comment! I thought about the high stance in front and thought of a way to remedy the situation. I removed the elbow mounts in the wheel wells that were added at some point in this kit's evolution, to eliminate the metal axle through the engine. I drilled a small hole in the side of the frame and another in each plastic wheel pin. I glued a piece of small brass rod into the wheel pin and mounted it into the hole in the frame. That lowered the front stance. Now the rear may be a little higher than the front but I will have to live with that. Thanks for looking! ?
