Thanks, Greg and Roy! I appreciate your comments! I received my Keith Marks decals and have added them. I'll post outdoor pics tomorrow in "Under Glass". Thanks for looking! ?

This one, along with a few flaws, is done!

Thanks, Jeff! I appreciate your comment! This build has gone south a bit. I tried to shorten the kit bumper and the joint on the left side worked out well, but I had to stretch the right side joint (there is plastic strip behind it for strength) in order to get it to fit. In other words, my measurements were off and the result is a pretty ugly bumper. Then I remembered that I have an AMT version of the 64 Chevy Impala and maybe that bumper would work. So I got it out and compared them and the AMT bumper appears to be shorter and will fit. I had to reduce the width of the bumper about 1/8" and carve out the ends of the bumper in order to fit it closer to the body. It doesn't have the detail that the AMT bumper has but its clean and fits so I am going to call it good. The curves on each side a a bit screwed up due to the fact that I have knocked out this tail panel a couple of times for some inexplicable reason so there is not much I can do about that except clean up the foil a bit. I wasn't able to clean up the curved cove very well but its hard to notice with the naked eye. Thanks for looking!

Thanks, David, Greg and Gareth! I appreciate your comments! The windows are in the engine bay is complete the front grill/bumper is on, and the trunk opens. I had to mount the trunk hinge retainer a little closer to the edge to get the clearance to open it to a position that will stay up. I hope it stays. I have to clean up the paint a bit and repair some foil and then add the rest of the parts and decals. The rear of this car is wide enough but the rear bumper is wider! I don't know what to do about that. I may have to turn it into a three-piece bumper. Should be done soon. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! Carl, I try to use Krylon Satin or Semi-gloss although I have used gloss too. The gloss takes a little longer to dry and remains a little tacky for a couple of days but I haven't noticed that so much with the satins and semi-gloss.The Krylon gloss also has a tendency to run or sag. Krylon does have a new line of Fusion paints (not the old Fusion) that have a primer in them, supposedly, that works pretty well but I always use a primer in addition. But I seldom use Krylon on a body as it just doesn't work well for me. I use the satins and semi-gloss mostly for interiors. I never use Rustoleum as I think it is crappy paint, although I realize they own Testors, which is getting worse and worse over the years. I ran into a problem with the ride height on this one that I don't remember from the builds of this kit in the past. I probably just used the coil springs on the main parts trees and ignored the separate package of custom/low rider parts. I should have done that on this one. I tried to interpret the instructions on this one and I think they are in error. I was able to remove the coil springs from the rear suspension without tearing it all apart to get the stock ride height. But I am afraid I have a shorter coil/spindle on the front, which give it a bit of a rake. I don't think I can replace the fronts without tearing it all apart so I may leave it alone. It has a bit of a rake which doesn't look too bad. I didn't do any engine wiring as I am going for Box Stock. Here are some pics. What do you think about the rake? Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! Mike, I used Krylon Semi-gloss White on the interior seats and door panels. One coat of primer, taped it off after the maroon on the door panels. then two coats of white letting it dry between coats. I normally only do a pass back and forth on each surface, i.e., top front bottom front seat, bottom border of the seat, back and sides. Of course, paint will spray where paint will spray but I try to target each surface and I don't try to cover each surface with the first session. I followed the paint with a light coat of Dullcote to bring the gloss down I forgot to give the door panels two coats before I pulled the tape and you can see it in the photos. But I didn't want to re-tape everything as it won't be that noticeable once assembled. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Carl and Greg! I appreciate your comments! Finished the interior and it worked out pretty nicely. Can't seem to get my camera to focus real well but here are a few photos.

I've built this kit a time or two and Its a pretty good kit so time to build it again. I used Tamiya Maroon on the body and the interior will be Maroon and White. I had a good day to paint so two coats of paint and two coat of clear yesterday. Rubbed it out this morning and have been busy with foil ever since. Lots of sharp edges on this model so you can see the edges that have been rubbed through in the second picture. Fortunately, most of them are covered with foil. I will touch up the tops of the fenders with a brush which should be easy to do with the flat side of a brush. I taped off the darts in the hood and trunk and resprayed them. All the other parts are painted too so this one should go together pretty quick. Thanks for looking! ?

I vote blue! I recently built a Dodge Daytona with Tamiya Light Blue Metallic and it looks pretty good!

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! No decals yet but should be here soon.

Its finished except for decals that are on their way. I decided not to add the chrome rockers because it such a small car, it might look too gaudy with the rockers and I don't want to ruin the paint. I don't think they will stay on with white glue, although I did use the white glue on the rear panel. I'll post some photos in Under Glass once I apply the decals for the hood, tail panel, and Super Sport script and side badge. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Snake, Mike and Mike! I appreciate your comments! Finished the interior, installed the windows and its on wheels today. Only the finishing touches now. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Carl! I appreciate your comment! I finished the engine bay and the chassis. I can only describe the tailpipes as one of the worst assemblies I have encountered and the platform is a bit warped as well. I used a hot water treatment while bending the chassis and it seemed to help but it didn't resolve the issue altogether. I couldn't get the hood to shut so I cut the carb in half and now it shuts with the air cleaner on. The bottom half of the carb is on the index card in the first picture. I found some F60-15 Goodyear pad printed tires in another kit to go with the mag wheels. I will get the interior together tomorrow so I can move to final assembly. I have mocked it up with the body and it looks pretty good. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Guido! Finished the engine bay and engine but it took a while to get here. I had put the doghouse together last night and let the CA glue dry overnight. I wired the engine and assembled it this morning. Then while mounting the engine the front of both inner fender liners came loose from the frame. While trying to glue them back down I knocked off the fan and oil filler tube. In addtion, while holding the fender liners in place, the firewall came loose resulting in all three pieces on the desk along with the engine that popped out along with a loose starter! I had to start all over! So I scraped the glue off the bottom of the inner fender liners and firewall. Re-installed, the firewall, re-glued the starter on and re-installed the engine. Next I re-installed each inner fender liner one at a time using 5-finger clamps to hold the fender liner in vertically and horizontally. Last were the oil filler tube and fan. The air cleaner is attached with Handy-tak. I touched up all the glue joints with black paint. So everything is re-attached and I hope ready for the next steps. Looks good in the body! Thanks for looking! ?

Beautiful work on the interior! I like the engine as well! ??

Thanks, everyone for all the replies! I appreciate your comments! ?

Thanks, Chaz, Carl and D! I appreciate your comments! Finished rubbing out the body today and have the first few pieces of foil in place. I had to repaint the right side early as I guess I didn't get enough paint on it. Good to go now. Thanks for looking!

Nice looking wagon! Good work! ??

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! The kit was a very good kit with good parts fit with the exception of the fender skirts. I would have like a better fit there. I did a better job on the left side than the right because I scraped out the lip in the body and also thinned down the ridge on the skirt to get it to fit better but it was very tedious. Other than that, everything fit very well. Too bad it's an Edsel! ?

Thanks, Greg, David and John! I appreciate your comments! Got the painting done today - nice day to paint. I used Testors Italian Red and I'll be going with a standard black interior. Paint turned out pretty well. I'll rub it out tomorrow and then get on to foil! Thanks for looking! ?

I recently finished this Edsel. The paint is Tamiya light green pearl and Krylon Semi-gloss white. The fender skirts were the most difficult part of the build, getting the skirt to the edge of the body wheel opening. My biggest mistake was painting the firewall flat black when it should be body color. I just spaced through it! My closer pictures of the engine bay did not turn out. Thanks for looking! ?

I started this build with a kit I bought years ago when they were on clearance, I think in the mid to late 90s. I built this kit before (see Panther Pink build in first photo) but it had big and little tires and wheels with "cheater slicks". But this kit from the much-maligned ERTL period for AMT, only has the skinny tires with big wheels that would be loosely defined "Pro Touring" not "Pro Street" as the instructions label. Plus I wanted to use s standard hood and engine without cutting out the hood and building the high-rise manifold with velocity stacks but there are no alternate engine pieces as depicted on the box with a closed solid hood. But then I remembered that I had a kit that I bought in 1990 that cost $8.99. I think that was the normal retail price at the time. its a complete nova SS kit with 327 engine, stock chassis, a set of Cragar mags as well as stock wheel covers. I can keep the hood intact and add additonal chrome trim. So I am going to build this one stock. I already have a Pro Street version so why not a stock version. Not sure on the color yet but there is a little body prep to do initially, mold lines in the front fenders, the trunk and of course, at the base of the the "B" pillar. I am sanding off the Super Sport script as it is too faint and small to do anything with. I have ordered some Keith Marks decals for this and other decals and I'll be able to use them with other Novas as well. So here we go! Thanks for looking! ?

David, I always clear coat in the same session as I am painting. I wait 10-15 minutes after each color coat and each clear coat. Normally, I do two color coat and two clear coats of lacquer. I don't know what clear you are using but if you use Testors Wet Coat (a lacquer) make sure you use it sparingly - one pass per surface during each session as it will run in a heartbeat! I normally use Krylon Clear Lacquer also referred to as 'Special Purpose" lacquer as it is less likely to run and dried very hard usually overnight. Also make sure the clear is compatible with the paint. I usually test that on the underside of a hood. Easier to fix.

Thanks, Carl, David and Mike! I appreciate your comments! I have built both the Revell and AMT 49 Mercs but still have at least one of each. Maybe I'll build them again soon! Thanks for looking! ?

Its finished! Everything went together well for the most part. The fender skirts were the most troublesome. Thanks, for looking! ?
