Thanks, Carl! I appreciate your comment! This one is done! Not much sunshine today but here are some indoor and outdoor pics:

Thanks, John! I agree with you - the kit mirrors are not usable. I finally have this one on wheels but it has been a struggle. I probably have had the chassis, interior and body apart six different times until I could get everything to fit, at least reasonably, and keep the hood on. The first shots are in-progress shots. My favorite way to do black moldings is a king-size Sharpie. I busted the left front fender/front fascia glue joint during all these assemblies so I fixed it as best I could but its not perfect. The ride height in front might be a little high but its the best I could do and get the hood on right. I'm down to decals and mirrors now. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, All for the comments! While rubbing out this build I I kept getting paint on my cloth so I knew I needed more clear. So I gave it another coat of clear and it blushed on me. So this morning I found a spot in the garage out of the weather and gave it another coat of paint and a coat of Wet Look. There was some orange peel on this orange turd, I mean bird, but I think I finally have it all rubbed out or at least most of it. I've just touched it up with a brush so i think I am done with the paint. everything else is painted (black interior) so there is not a lot of detailing to do on this one. A little foil, some black, silver, stop light red and turn signal amber and the rest is assembly. No need to use a pre-wired distributor on this one as it will become just a shelf sitter. Thanks for looking and I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Thanks, All! I appreciate the very nice comments! I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! ?

The video is amazing! I would never think to paint 5 coats of paint and 5 coats of clear. The black is just beautiful! Very nice work all the way around!

Thanks, Jeff and Perry! I appreciate your comments! Perry, as I mentioned somewhere above,. I painted the chassis just before it started raining outside on my patio. I went in the house and got busy on something else and didn't realize that it had started sprinkling for about half hour. So I guess you could say I "weathered" the chassis!

I bought this bagged kit as part of a larger purchase of 50 kits. Some were duplicates and a few had missing parts. To sweeten the deal the seller threw in about a dozen bagged kits that he said were complete but only about 6 of them were. This one was one that was complete. I was inspired by Nacho Z's WIP of this model so I decided the build it too. I worked on the body the better part of a day getting rid of all the flash on window openings and wheel openings, sanding out the cut-outs for the T-tops, re-scribing the window trim a bit, giving it a preliminary coat of primer and then adding all the additional parts. I painted the body with Tamiya Orange after a coat of flat white since the orange doesn't cover gray primer very well. One coat of Krylon Clear Lacquer. Here are some pictures: I am replacing the mirrors in this kit with some parts box mirrors that are tilted a bit so that they will mount correctly and I will pin these mirrors before mounting them.

Sorry to hear about your bad break, John. But it happens to all of us. If you plan on re-painting blue and need the blue decals I would be glad to send them to you. I don't know if you can send a private message on this board as I haven't been on it long but if you send me your address I'll put them in the mail. I painted mine orange and will be starting a WIP today. ?

That's a really nice build so far, John! I recently purchased this kit in a 50 count lot of kits. Some were duplicates and about 5 had missing parts. The guy who sold me the kits threw in about 12 bagged kits that he said were complete to sweeten the deal. Unfortunately, only about 1/2 of them are complete but for what I paid, I can't complain. This one happens to be one of the complete ones. Someone took the time to remove all the parts from the sprue, and put each part in a separately labelled bag, even the decals. I don't see the same kind of damage on the body or the seats as yours but I'm sure there will be some stress along the way as it is still an MPC kit. I'm inspired by your build and may build it next, in sympathy with you! ?

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments!

Your Camaros look good, Dave! I am surprised that the AMT Camaro convertible is a bad kit. I built several 2010 AMT hardtops and other than the curbside aspect of the kit I thought they built up fine. I would think that the convertible would be just a modification of that mold, but maybe that was the problem. The worst kit ever made in my opinion was the MPC 69 Camaro Convertible molded in orange plastic. The only parts that were salvageable from that kit were the rally wheels that had a deeper dish than most and the red taillight lenses. Nice work on your Camaros!

Just finished this one, probably my last build of the year. Bumpers don't fit front or back. Its a shame. With some decals and bumpers that fit this would be a really nice re-pop. Too bad! Wheels are from the 64 Thunderbolt kit and tires from the 69 Olds 442 W-30 re-pop.

Thanks, Gary and Tom! I appreciate your comments! Tom, the paint I used on the engine is Testors Dark Bronze Metallic in the Custom Lacquer System line. I don't know if it has been discontinued but I still have a part of a spray can of it. Well, its finished! Front and rear bumpers look OK from the front and back but don't fit well on the side body panels. Kinda disappointing after all the detailing but that is how it goes. It reminds me of the cars in the 60s as a lot of them had bumpers that didn't meet the body correctly, not to mention crooked door lines, etc. I almost ruined the whole build by trying to glue the right side of the rear bumper tight on the body so I am not going to pursue that any further. Maybe I should have done some shaving of the chassis front and back but not sure that would have worked either. So I am just going to leave it as is. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Gary! I appreciate your comments! Yes, there is a lot of foil on this one. I wish Round2 would add some decals to this kit like 442 emblems, the Oldsmobile banner in the rear, dash gauges, etc. It would make some of these old kits so muchaw better! I finished the engine, added plug wires and that's it. I painted the air cleaner silver leaf and I can't believe this piece wasn't on the chrome tree and all the pictures that I saw were chrome. The chassis went together well and I am told that this is one of the best replications of a GM chassis. The chassis fit the body pretty easily once the twin "flying alternator and power steering pump" were wiggled into place. Actually, I had to bend the fan belts a bit, but since they are thin, they can bend a little without breaking them. The chassis almost snapped into place and only needed a little bit of glue up front between the frame rails and inner fender liners. So it on wheels! The wheels are from the 64 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt kit and the tires are tampo printed Firestone Wide Ovals from a recent reissue of 69 Olds 442 W-30. I have purchased the Thunderbolt kit a couple of times just for the two sets of wheels in that kit. Thanks for looking!

Thanks, Wes and Carl! I appreciate your comments! Finished the interior with some foil, paint and chrome pen at least until it ran out. I found a couple of dash gauges and used them on the dash. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Carl and Tom! I appreciate your comments! Tom, I think the base coat of silver leaf does brighten the color and makes the metallic shimmer a little more, especially in the sunlight. I am just going by the old advice to use silver under blue, green and purple metallics and gold under red, orange and yellow metallics. But I have broken that rule more than once and just sprayed over gray primer. Thanks for looking! ?

Painted the interior and a few other parts today. Temp was only about 55 outside but I went for it and it worked out pretty well. I am also going with a two-tone interior a little differently. Painted the floor and doors black, seats, dash and interior red. I used flame red for the interior so its a little darker than the Italian Red exterior. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, David and Wes! I appreciate your comments! David, I don't plan on foiling the fender louver edges as I doubt I could get it to look right. it would require either very thin strips or cutting a larger piece over the edges which would also require some very neat cutting and risk of cutting the paint on a very uneven surface. I may foil the marker lamps even though there are decals for both. The silver on the decal is not very good but cutting it off would also be a challenge. I may just foil and paint the markers and use the forward decal for the engine size decal. I forgot to mention the paint is Tamiya light blue metallic over a coat of Tamiya silver leaf. Thanks for looking! ?

Looks great, Bob! I like the vinyl roof, color and the Detail Master working tie-downs. I have used them before and they add some nice detail not to mention all the other detail you have added. Nice work! ? ?

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! Working on the wheels and window glass next as the weather is too nasty to finish painting the related parts. Thanks for looking! ?

I painted this body late in the week, before it started raining. Since its still rainy, cold and windy, I can't finish painting the related parts for either the 66 Olds or this build. I rubbed out the body and have it foiled. Trim packages seem to be all over the place from chrome trim on everything like a Bel Air to hardly any trim at all like a Biscayne. I chose a moderate approach with some trim around the windows. I also added chrome rockers just because I like chrome rockers. I guess I'll work on tires and wheels and window glass next! Thanks for looking!?

My latest WIP. I painted this body a couple of weeks ago after adding the black vinyl top using masking tape. Its been raining yesterday and today so I was able to rub it out and get some foil on it. Now I am stuck until I can get the rest of the parts painted outside on my patio. I tried to paint some pieces yesterday before it started raining. Unfortunately, it started sprinkling while it was drying and I didn't notice so it has a white haze. I guess I "weathered" these parts! Thanks for looking! ? Oh, and there's a 69 Nova in the background. Painted that yesterday so I guess I have some work to do!

Thanks, Chris, Dann and Dan! I appreciate your comments! ?

Thanks, All! I appreciate the very nice comments! On to the next build, a 1966 Olds 442 W-30. Thanks again for looking and the comments!

Thanks, All for your comments! Its done! You may see some handi-tak sticking out form under the hood. its the only way to secure the hood from sliding off everytime I move it. I guess I could glue it on because there is nothing to see in the engine compartment. I didn't add a front license plate so that I didn't spoil the look of the front end. No antenna as they usually get knocked off. The body looks great and I really like some of these old cars. Just disappointed with the other aspects of the kit. Thanks for looking! ?
