  1. Call this a slight diversion while waiting for some paint to arrive at the hobby shop... I just wasn't diggin the chassis as it came in the kit, so I dove into the parts bin, and this is what I have so far. I wanted to lower the car, but not so much it looked impractical for a 1:1. To get there, I cut the front clip in half, and spliced in the crossmember and spring pockets from a Monogram '65 Corvette chassis, and added the 9" axle from the Revell '32 Ford. After that I dove back in the parts bin and came up with some rear shocks, front springs, sway bar and a tie rod that I think is from the Monogram '40 pickup. Not sure if I am gonna keep the tierod, gonna do a little "kit pickin" to see what else I an scare up. I also had to remove the kit oilpan and use a rear sump pan from the parts box. And that get's the car to this point. The tires are leftover from the Revell '50 Ford pickup. The front will come down just a tad when it's finally glued together. Right now I'm thinking Tamiya TS-60 lt pearl green for the body color, need to find a decent color for the interior and wheels.
  2. Paasche and Badger both make decent airbrushes at decent prices. You should head into a hobby shop or craft store that sells them, and find the one that you are most comfortable with. The best thing you can do is skip the propellent cans, and get a compressor with a moisture trap and pressure regulator. Oh, and don't forget the respirator!
  3. Lookin good!!
  4. Marcos, What kit is that? While not a fan of modern FWD imports, I do have an interest in the old school RWD cars like the early Celica, Datsun 510, Datsun Z, and 1st gen RX-7. The wheels are what made me think Toyota - they are nearly identical to the wheels on my 1:1 ride in high school, a '76 Celica GT liftback
  5. Peterson's 'Cuda is cool....but I bet the GT will still be done before his Thunderbolt... 8) The decals wouldn't conform to the radiator heat extractors on the "hood" no matter what kind of relief cuts I tried, or how much Microsol I used. Not the first time I've had to go this route, and probably won't be the last...
  6. That an old school Toyota Corolla?
  7. Uuughh. I hate decals. Gonna have to mask and paint the stripes on this thing...###### Fords...LOL!!

    06 Mustang

I know mine didn't look that good back in the day - nice work!
  9. Although the VeeDub is way cool, this one just does it for me...love the stance and overall look!!
  10. I like it. The stance and wheel choice is perfect!
  11. Maybe not, but it'll probably be finished before yours... 8)
  12. Nice color, what paint did ya use?

    '62 Cat

    That looks way cool!
  14. Nice work!
  15. My one gripe with this kit is the exhaust moulded to the rear axle...
  16. What does the plastic look like? Does it look like the funky plastic that has had the paint issues?
  17. Ya done good Andy!!
  18. Way cool!!
  19. It's in color...woohoo!! Sprayed some Tamiya TS-51 Racing Blue this afternoon, and am a little surprised. It's a bit more "burple" than I thought it would be, and has a little more flake than I thought it would, but it's a pretty close match to Ford SVT Sonic Blue. I need to fog a little more color in the radiator ducts, then it's on to decals and clear. Be nice to get this one done and get back to the Ferrari... btw: the pics make it look a bit lighter than it really is.
  20. Looks like a really nice kit... too bad the car is as ugly as the day is long... LOL! Thanx for taking the pics Pat!
  21. Nice build, sweet paintjob!
  22. That's gonna look sweet!
  23. Cool take on that kit - I like it!
