  1. Very cool!!
  2. Nothin wrong with those pics - looks nice!
  3. Ooooh, that is nice!!! Very clean work!!
  4. That's likely the culprit, the Tamiya lacquer ate into the Testors enamal, causing it to wrinkle.
  5. Is the model master gold the new lacquer, or the old enamal?
  6. That paintjob is just too cool!!!
  7. I haven't used the Testors lacquers, so I can't comment on them. That being said, you would do well to give Tamiya lacquer sprays a try - good stuff!! Their primer, available in white and grey is also very nice to use, very fine grain, and doesn't bury molded in details. As Ismael mentioned, the best money you cna spend is on a cartridge-type respirator made for lacquers and other VOC materials. Lacquers dry fast, lay down thin, and cure rock hard. Here are a couple cars done with Tamiya sprays, and rubbed out with Novus plastic polish #2. Tamiya Ferrari 360 Modena, painted TS-16 Yellow: Monogram '65 Corvette Stingray, painted TS-08 Italian Red: Neither of those have any clear, just rubbed with Novus #2. Brian
  8. I think the early Pantera without all the spoilers and wings looks the best.
  9. I use 30awg "wrapping" wire from radio-shack for the wires, and a #75 drill bit to drill out the distributor and the heads. Insulation stripped from slightly larger wire works very well for plug boots.
  10. Thanx guys!! The paintjob fought me all the way, but once I got the stripes on it, everything sorta fell into place. The color is way cool, but the camera won't capture all of the tones or the flake in it. I'll try to get some outdoor pics. Those wheels have been kicking around the parts box for a few years, Not sure which kit they came from...
  11. That was a glue-bomb?? GREAT save!!
  12. Pretty sure that was Stevie Ray Vaughn's cover of "Voodo Child" by Jimi Hendrix... been awhile since I've seen the movie.
  13. Y'all ain't gonna believe this, but the one-legged modeller has actually finished a model!! It's the Polar Lights pre-painted kit, but it's been stripped and repainted with Tamiya paints throughout. The body is TS-50 Racing Blue, the stripes are TS-26 Pure White (the decals just don't work), topped with TS-13 clear. All detail painting was done with Tamiya acrylics. Mods include a set of Tamiya wheels with Pagasus tires up front and Pegasus 23" stepped aluminum sleeves and tires out back, parts box brake rotors and calipers, and polished aluminum exhaust tips. Aside from the totally wrong engine, it's actually a pretty decent kit. So, here it is:
  14. Still not one that likes the Charger, but your build is really nice! The Caddy really turned out sweet!! The only way you could pull a convincing coupe conversion on the Charger is to move the greenhouse back and stretch the hood/cowl back to the base of the new windscreen position, leaving the front wheel arches right where they are.
  15. Thanx!! Don't forget to "notch" the end of the tube where it meets the next tube so there aren't any large seems. I've also found it much easier to polish a longer piece of tube before bending and forming then trying to polish it afterwards. This roll bar was made with the same size tube and a plastic "pin" holding them together, and was polished with a dremel before it was bent and mounted on the car.
  16. Very cool Bill - thanx for sharing this!!
  17. Very nice work James!! I used two sizes of tubing for this roll bar, and drilled a hole in the hoop to fit the lower bar. For two pieces of tubing that are the same size, you could drill a smaller hole for a piece of wire or plastic rod that will fit inside the tubes, and use a couple drops of CA to hold it together.
  18. Slick lookin Chevelle!!
  19. That just too cool!! Great stuff, Bill!!
  20. That's it. I have got to get me one of these kits!!
  21. Looking good!! I've got two of em on the shelf, and two more in the pile. Monogram did a killer job on these kits!
  22. Great wheel choice!
  23. That would look sweet in Tamiya chrome yellow!
  24. This one is gonna be cool to follow!
