  1. That's really nice! Looks like it should be on the pages of Car Craft. I'm not usually a fan of blacked out wheels, but they really work on this car.
  2. It's also called HellaFlush (Narrow tires stretched on wide rims, wheels tucked under the fenders and lots of camber): http://www.stancenation.com/2012/06/09/hellaflush-kansai-japan-photo-coverage-part-2/ It should look different with this body style.
  3. Thanks anyway Nick, but after some research, I think I'm going to try kit bashing the Revell '67 chassis with the '63 Snap kit body.
  4. Was that released by Round 2?
  5. Thanks for the reply CrazyJim. I actually bought one of those just for the body to kit bash one. The AMT kit was cool though for all the extra parts it had. 3 in 1 with two engines and a lot of custom parts. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/instruction_sheetsh/instruction_sheets/amt-8/amt-63-corvette-6520/ I remember building the AMT kit when I was a kid. It was the first kit I can remember that came out really nice. Probably due to my experimenting with masking and using spray paint where ever possible ( long before I had an airbrush).
  6. Has this kit ever been re-released? Do you guys think Round 2 will ever release it?
  7. That is beautiful. Those rims look nice on that boddy style too. BTW, Those tires will slide right off those rims and you can flip them around.
  8. Oh man, sounds like a tedious build. Your work and patience sure paid off in the end!
  9. Beautiful Camaro! I love the color scheme and the dog dish hubcaps. I have one of these in the stash. What were the problem areas I need to look out for?
  10. He's a bit more than just a typical collector IMO. He's actually quite a historian and know the cars very well, He also modifies a lot of his cars. He has a beautiful Buick Roadmaster that is heavily modified with a Corvette chassis, a roadster with a monster tank engine and a motorcycle with a Jet engine out of a helicopter. He also writes articles regarding automotive history and theory for Popular Mechanics. Regardless, he's a celebrity associated with cars and that's all Revell cares about. They design a kit and then they approach a "big name" and ask if they can put his name on it. That is the extent of the relationship.
  11. I don't know. Those Foose cars don't look anything like his cars. I doubt he was involved in the design at all. Revell probably just bought the license and that was that. I'm not really interested in a name on a product if they don't have any involvement in its design. Some of Revell's kits are very nice, but then there are some that you wonder if they involved anyone who knew anything about cars in the project.
  12. Cool build. I can already see this beast screaming around the track.
  13. I always thought a Rat Rod was supposed to be built with junk yard parts and the only new parts money went into the go fast goodies (engine, drivetrain, etc) If anything (other than messing up a good car), the Camaro would be maybe "Faux Rat".
  14. This looks nice. What did you use to paint the seats and door panels? It really looks like fabric.
  15. Same here. I'd love to have just that decal sheet. A Ranchero version of this kit would be way too cool.
  16. I've ordered from him twice in the last few months. One time it took like three weeks for him to reply. The other time it was like a week. You just have to be patient. If he doesn't reply in two weeks or so, ping him again. Eventually he'll get back to you. One of the caveats of doing business with the cottage industry. It's a product you can't get anywhere else, but you've got one guy doing it in his spare time (which some of us don't have a lot of).
  17. Here's my home built booth. It has a downdraft squirrel cage fan, outside vent, and I use cheap furnace filters at the base of the booth, over the fan. I have no issues with airflow. I use spray cans in here all the time. It's hard on the filter, but there is no smell in the room at all. The downdraft pulls the paint and dust down. I felt this was the best for me, seeing as I generally paint from an angle above and to the right. I thought rear draft might pull dust across the model and might also pull paint from the brush to the rear away from the model. The inside is painted gloss white with under cabinet lights mounted at top. I later added a gooseneck reading lamp attached to the top for more light. There is a clear acrylic door held closed with a magnet. After painting I can leave the model in there to dry, protected from dust and accidents. Under the baking rack is a cheap furnace filter and a large square plenum area under it. It pulls enough air to use a spray can in there without any paint smell in the room, but that will foul the filter quickly. Luckily they are cheap and very easy to replace. Here's the 400CFM squirrel cage fan on the bottom under the plenum. It exhausts out the window. There is a dryer vent on the outside that closes automatically when the fan is off. Blower and light switches. Low cost hardware store compressor with 5gal air tank underneath. I was later able to fit plastic storage drawers between the switches for pipettes, neoprene, gloves, Q-tips, and various other things I use while painting.
  18. Are these things basically the same as regular stock cars, but just with truck looking bodies instead of car looking bodies?
  19. Very Nice! I love the '80s paint scheme too. Are those the wheels and tires from the AMT Mount N Goat Commando?
  20. I think this would solve a lot of problems with tires. Aircraft and scale military vehicle models (wheeled armor and trucks) have two piece styrene tires and wheels almost exclusively. They can make them accurately and relatively cheaply. The fact that the manufacturers have chosen to standardize on vinyl tires has both increased their expense and reduced the fidelity.
  21. We used to have one at a place I worked a while back. Kept blueprints in it of course. It was huge, covered most of a wall, but all metal and not attractive like this one.
  22. That's nice. Perfect for sandpaper and plastic construction materials. Will paint bottles fit in there?
  23. more than twice that, 300+
  24. Now when you guys say "chassis", do you really mean frame? Aside from some trucks, most cars are unibody these days and don't have frames separate from the body.
  25. Thanks for the pic of that Daytona Charger. Pics like that are hard to find.
