  1. In an effort to keep the projects "seperate" I figured I'd slowly create a thread on each as I made progress. So in the 1:1 world, there are many trucks that are laid out with air suspension or hydro's, some that lay the rocker (called "bodied" for slang usually) and some that are even cut to the point where the rocker is cut off and the bottom of the door is "capped" this is considered "doored" for slang. This one is somewhat still up in the air at the moment, but I picked up a set of scale steelies from Aoshima (for me the wheels are the mainstay of the builds to get the ball rolling.) Now previously I had set my sights on using a set of the scale racing hart c5's from a HiLux kit, may still go that route, but would be stripping the chrome i think. Motor wise for this one I have a resin 10-71 and a shotgun scoop that I may utilize just so it has that "oh my" factor lol
  2. Only a smidgen. This week has been a bit more intense work wise and I've been stripping a Sir Michaels rollpan for my 1:1 daily driver sierra in an attempt to get it primed and over to line-x so they can spray the backside of it. Along with tinting 4 sets of tailights for "customers" amonngst other fun daily stuff lol, But. I did get the hood filled and smoothed, started cleaning up some areas of the cab I wasn't happy with. Attached the firewall to the interior tub (yet I left the hood on for the picture DOH). Experimented with the wheels, painted them with the silver to see if I like it or not. Still unsure on that as well. And not sure if I'll stay with this satin green to be totally honest. I'd like to say I'll get the front suspension in place this weekend at least.
  3. Well, I'm still somewhat open on that to be honest, I've really leaned hard towards a modern LSx motor, to go along with the scale 20 inch rallye's. But.....a good old mouse motor just may be the ticket. Thank you! I went through so many combo's in my head, but when I saw these, I knew they were it!
  4. Nice! I just snagged one of these kits uber cheap off eBay myself. It's on the to do list after my 55 truck I'm working on right now.
  5. Nope, Dakota Sports were the only to carry the convertible ideal. here's a modded one I found on the interwebz of a Dakota Sport and a shelby dakota Very nice build thus far!
  6. ended up doing some digging and came upon this thread. so here's my 1:1. 2001 GMC Sonoma, bagged on 17/18 C57 polished coys (intro rodders w/smooth lip). shaved, flamed, tubbed bed etc. all built by myself and friends. and my old white 95 SS (true 95 SS) right before I sold it Freshly on air. which is why I'm building this. Doored on 17's which was to be the goal of the SS
  7. nice! just got one of those kits myself!
  8. really like this build! Looks great so far!
  9. Thanks Jason, I appreciate the good words. Yeah I loved the stepside, but the more I look at the fleetside i'm sold on it. This is also somewhat a scale version of what my next 1:1 truck (give or take a few years) will be. I intend on a 55ish GM truck, although it may be an Apache. Thanks Ken! Here's some of the inspiration for these style builds. Keep in mind this 59 Apache would be a solid one color for paint and on billets though. I took these at the Pumpkin Run Nationals this year in Owensville, Ohio.
  10. yes please! lol. love it!
  11. very much interested. GN's are a soft spot for me!
  12. outstanding! that color REALLY pops
  13. love the exhaust! Cars nasty mean!
  14. awesome! Thanks! Here's the link to the seller from eBay for the current auction for a set of the wheels. The tires I got are pegasus 20's. He also lists a set of 18/20 OEM style Super Sport wheels, which I snagged a set of those (on their way) a few days ago. And he's had a set of 18/20 mopar steelies to. http://www.ebay.com/...=item1e736a6b8e I appreciate the kind words! I've decided to put the focus on this one, the wheels & tires arriving for it really got me inspired to get this one show worthy, possibly for the Indy show that's coming in 2 weekends (Circle City I think). I'm thinking I'm going to grab a photo etched grill (I believe they make one for this). I have a billet gas cap as well. Motor at the moment is undecided. I contemplated doing a tube chassis from aluminum round tube, but I'll forgo that to just build the exhaust out of it for now lol. Interior will have a billet steering wheel. I basically envision and build models as if they were a 1:1 for myself mostly. With the trans crossmember cut out, along with the spare tire i stuck the interior tub and put it in place on the frame, and stuck the bed floor in place so I can get an idea of where/what I'll need to cut to get the axle up far enough, Just sat the bedside for the truck there for mock up purposes.
  15. Thank you! I had several ideas in my head, but when I saw these, i knew they were it! Thanks! Yeah I love the stepside on it, it eats the wheel which I love, has me thinking for the 65 lol! Thanks for the welcome.
  16. Hmmm, I'm in NKY, Indy is about 1.50 hours from me. Sounds like this is a doable event.
