  1. Nice build up of this kit, Phillip. Scott
  2. The above discussion is all fine and good. But again, and it seems like JB's the only one getting it, what can be built using the parts pack chassis as a base? What was designed, if anything, to fit that chassis? By the way, does AMT's parts pack engines even fit that chassis? It seems to me when I tried mock fitting them a few years ago, none of them fit too well. Scott
  3. Great kit, isn't it? I had a lot of fun building mine. Scott
  4. Interesting. But, like Mr. Mesner it's not for me. Scott
  5. That's the direction I'm thinking. I've had an AMT parts pack frame built for a few years now. I really want to find a use for it. I'm hoping the parts pack T body will work with it. And if not, why not? And If so, I'd like to see some models done using those two parts kits together. What body, did AMT originally figured for use with their parts pack chassis? There must be some old timers out there who know? Scott
  6. What irked me today? Started back with working with the kids last week. Overall, this is great. But, somewhere along the line, I caught a cold. Bad enough, that I spent the whole day in bed. No fun. But, it did me a lot of good. I'm starting to feel better. And should be ready to good to work in the morning. Scott
  7. You may have a point, Harry. But, since my mind has been pretty bent for years now. I think I'll stick to it being bad. Scott
  8. Interesting. I like what you've done. Scott
  9. I'm quoting myself here. Because I still want to know if anybody has ever build a model car using mainly parts pack kits? And if so, can we see them? Scott
  10. Downtown North St. Paul. Scott
  11. Again, how about some pictures, guys. So we can see what your talking about. Scott
  12. I like it. Something you would really see in the early 60's. Kool. Scott
  13. I agree with the two opinions above me. Scott
  14. Sounds and looks cool, but.... A (new) little car like that will never be allowed on the road. The over zealous safety police will never let us drive something that fun on the road. Scott
  15. Welcome to the hobby Jason. Enjoy. It can be a lot fun. As to whether "our hobby" is growing or shrinking? Who really knows? And can I do really do anything about it? There is very little I can do about about the overall health of the hobby. All I can really do, is buy the kits I like and have fun building them. And stop worrying about "Is our hobby, growing or skrinking?" (That should be spelled shrinking by the way.) In my professional career I work with kids. And I will never stop exposing them to the hobby, and encourage them to check it out. Beyond that, that's all I can do. Scott
  16. Very possible. Revell's '49 custom Mercury comes with a Caddy engine. But, no mention of it in the instructions or on the value covers. Scott
  17. Good video Tom. But no sound. What is the idea behind the use of pencil on the glass in making your own masks? Does this stop bleed through or what? Scott
  18. First, I find that I can find much better pictures of different cars, and car related objects through other sources. Like the books and the internet. Plus it a pain trying to take photos at most cars at car shows. People standing in the way, etc. And rarely do I run across anything as unusual as a Potvin supercharger. Plus I've found looking at most other peoples car show pictures as kind of boring. I'm sure they'd find mine the same way. So, I just enjoy looking and talking with other people more at car shows. By the way, Lee. Your in the Twin Cities area. Another street rod buddy was telling me just last night, that the car I saw, shows up at the North St. Paul show frequently. So I expect to see it again in the future. But, I still will probably not have a camera with me. Scott
  19. Looks great to me! I love those old JoHan kits. The engine and chassis detail may not be the best. But the bodies and interiors always build into nice looking models. Scott
  20. The above is more "Workbench" than "Under Glass" stuff. I look forward to seeing it when it's ready for Under Glass. Scott
  21. Ditto to what to what Mark said. Scott
  22. By the way, I wonder if the model designers/toolers back in the day would have ever imagined that their work would be scrutinized like this. Considering they were mainly designing these models for kids, I'm impress with how correct they worked on getting the details right on some of these kits. Look at the Blue Beetle's Cadillac mill. Could it be better detailed? Yes. But notice, how much they did get right. Scott
  23. This is the type of stuff I love to read and discuss. It's always interesting to see the amount knowledge people on this web site have. I'm impressed. The water cross over pipe looks like the quickest and best way to identify the Caddy from the Olds. The bolting down of the valve cover is a good second. The two good shots the model engine here, both look like Cadillacs to me. Especially the one with the Cadillac script on the valve cover. Scott
  24. Yeh, I noticed the overall lines of both cars and dash boards give away their origins. And that's one of the things that make them cool to us who grew up with the old '66 Fords here in the U.S. There are several cars like that, were the dies were shipped to South America. And built for years, sometimes with modifications, that make them slightly different from what we had. Its fun to see these cars and their variations. Thanks for sharing all three vehicles with us. As far as cats go. I too have a cat. And we all know they are totally evil and can speak in many different tongues if they wish to. But, their ultimate plans for taking over the world will not allow them to let us ever to know what they really know or can do. Don't trust them. I'm sure your seven are manipulating the dogs around you to ruin you videos. They have that power, you know. Scott
  25. Okay Harry. The ABBA ZZ Top thing is pushing it a little too far. That is terrible! Scott
