  1. ??? I agree with Tom too. But apparently not in the same way you do. Back in the 1950's especially, the automobile companies were getting away with murder. Cars were dangerous in the way they were designed and built back then. Warranties? Some cases one month or a 1,000 miles, which ever came first. Cover ups? Buick's famous brake problem of 1953. No recall to the public. The dealers were barely warned of it. Until a mechanic in a Buick dealership as crushed by a Roadmaster. And still there was no public recall. No teeth today? Read your history. And be glad we live in a time where the government is watching out for us on this one. By the way, despite Buick's brake problems, they had a record setting year in sales. When they started grinding out axles in '56, is when the public started turning away from Buick. It took Buick years to rebuild its reputation from that debacle. I love cars from the 50's and 60's. It's my favorite era in automotive history. But, I'm realistic about those cars too. I still get a kick when I hear people at car shows say, "They sure don't build them like that anymore." And I think to myself, "Thank god." The amount of work required back in the day in simple maintenance compared to today. The lack of safety and convenience features we have now. There's no way do I want to go back to "the good old days". The cars from back when are fun now as weekend play things. But, I'll stick this a modern car for daily driving. Recalls and all. Scott
  2. SAL donkey? What is an SAL donkey? Scott
  3. By the way, how can anybody forget the coolest ever molded in clear. The Renwal Visible Pigeon? Scott
  4. I'm okay with polite 25-26 year olds. Scott
  5. Forgot about the the DiDia 150. Owned by Booby Darin, and shown from a rear view by Bill at the bottom of post #9. Another great one. Scott
  6. As far as cars with fins. Here are two of my favorites. GM's Firebird III and Lincoln's Futura. Only Harley Earl and crew in the late 1950's can design a car with 7 fins and still make it look good. And we all know the fate of Futura. As much as I like Batman and the Barris redesign. I like the Futura in its original form better. Scott
  7. Congrats Chris. Ten years, that's really, really great. Remember we can do it one day at time as they say. I've been doing one day at a time for 12,839 days now. And life has never been better. Keep up the good work. Scott
  8. That is a very nice '60 Rambler wagon, above. Scott
  9. Nice build up of this kit, Phillip. Scott
  10. The above discussion is all fine and good. But again, and it seems like JB's the only one getting it, what can be built using the parts pack chassis as a base? What was designed, if anything, to fit that chassis? By the way, does AMT's parts pack engines even fit that chassis? It seems to me when I tried mock fitting them a few years ago, none of them fit too well. Scott
  11. Great kit, isn't it? I had a lot of fun building mine. Scott
  12. Interesting. But, like Mr. Mesner it's not for me. Scott
  13. That's the direction I'm thinking. I've had an AMT parts pack frame built for a few years now. I really want to find a use for it. I'm hoping the parts pack T body will work with it. And if not, why not? And If so, I'd like to see some models done using those two parts kits together. What body, did AMT originally figured for use with their parts pack chassis? There must be some old timers out there who know? Scott
  14. What irked me today? Started back with working with the kids last week. Overall, this is great. But, somewhere along the line, I caught a cold. Bad enough, that I spent the whole day in bed. No fun. But, it did me a lot of good. I'm starting to feel better. And should be ready to good to work in the morning. Scott
  15. You may have a point, Harry. But, since my mind has been pretty bent for years now. I think I'll stick to it being bad. Scott
  16. Interesting. I like what you've done. Scott
  17. I'm quoting myself here. Because I still want to know if anybody has ever build a model car using mainly parts pack kits? And if so, can we see them? Scott
  18. Downtown North St. Paul. Scott
  19. Again, how about some pictures, guys. So we can see what your talking about. Scott
  20. I like it. Something you would really see in the early 60's. Kool. Scott
  21. I agree with the two opinions above me. Scott
  22. Sounds and looks cool, but.... A (new) little car like that will never be allowed on the road. The over zealous safety police will never let us drive something that fun on the road. Scott
  23. Welcome to the hobby Jason. Enjoy. It can be a lot fun. As to whether "our hobby" is growing or shrinking? Who really knows? And can I do really do anything about it? There is very little I can do about about the overall health of the hobby. All I can really do, is buy the kits I like and have fun building them. And stop worrying about "Is our hobby, growing or skrinking?" (That should be spelled shrinking by the way.) In my professional career I work with kids. And I will never stop exposing them to the hobby, and encourage them to check it out. Beyond that, that's all I can do. Scott
  24. Very possible. Revell's '49 custom Mercury comes with a Caddy engine. But, no mention of it in the instructions or on the value covers. Scott
