  1. John, At least it doesn't have to be totally rebuilt. Or did I just jinks myself....Knock on wood. I had it heated up pretty good and then into the ice bath real quick with the wedge still in place so...... We shall see. I really don't want to start the hood all over again. Ken.
  2. Thanks Mike, Now it's little things to line up and a few small things to paint, I also want to redo the rims as well not happy with the stock finish on them. I still need to order the elbows for the exhaust stacks and tail lights as well. Ken.
  3. John, With the pipes tucked in close to the frame they scrape the hood when closing. The hood was bowed inwards at the bottom before I extended it. I should have checked that before I had it painted. They way the hood sits closed it doesn't line up with the the bottom of the cab. I don't need much clearance maybe a 1/4" at the most or a touch more. Because I heated up the hood the body filler where I added the extension has caused the seam to bubble or rise up and you can see where the joint is.I trimmed down the pipes as much as I can go. I let it sit over night with the wedge I used yesterday to spread it apart. It looks like it might just work this time. I can get away with only having to paint the top of the hood so it won't be to bad. The seams on the sides are fine and no other work will be required. The front of the hood will spread when the grill is in place and was very tight. I did a test fit and everything lines up so far. I'll see in a day or so once it sits without the wedge in place. Fingers crossed. Thanks, Ken.
  4. Nice job on everything. Ken
  5. Thanks, JT. Having hood issues with her. I need more clearance on the sides of the hood to clear the twin turbo pipes. I tried to heat her up good with a blow dryer and spread it open a little more and then dunk it into ice water. It works good but slowly goes back to the original shape in a day or two. It is now my third attempt at this each time sticking more wedges in to move it outward to open it up. So now the top of the hood needs to be repainted........again..... what a surprise. I thought I had a picture to show but I lost that too. Ken.
  6. Welcome to Model Cars forum. Nice job on the KW. I find that the front end sits way to high on these trucks. lowering it sure makes it look better. The paint job looks pretty good to me. I have the same one to build one day. Ken.
  7. Chris, Looking very nice. What a super job done on the interior and sleeper. Nice color choice as well. I like to do up the interior and sleeper as well even though you don't really get to see all the detail that goes into it. As long as you know you did it that's all that matters. Keep up the good work. Ken.
  8. Thanks JT,Ken and Cary for your comments. I have a few more pictures to show before I take it apart again. Thanks,Ken.
  9. Thanks Jim,Jeff,Clayton,Mike and John for your comments. This was the first mock up since she was painted. I carefully put it together and sat back to look at her. In awe myself all I could say was "WOW"..... and sat there like a young boy looking into the toy store window. I still have a few things to correct for fit but slowly she is coming to life. Thanks again to all for the wonderful comments and encouragement to keep me going through the hard times. Ken.
  10. Thanks,Ken,Clayton and Henry for your comments. I was test fitting things today for the first time since she was painted. I had to make sure that everything lined up before I started to glue everything together. Here is my first picture of the painted mock up. A few small changes needed to be done still before final assembly can start. I was having issues with the hood to cab fit so I had to heat up the hood and quick freeze it to correct the warp issue. The top of the hood has to be sanded down and repainted. No big problem,I've had worse. Ken.
  11. Ken, You sure have a nice collection of Muscle cars. Well done. I now see what you mean you had a bunch of them boxed up. Very nice work. Ken
  12. Thanks, Dennis. I wish I could build a lego truck like yours. Ken.
  13. Terry, Lookin good. You have to stick your tongue out of the right side of your mouth just a little as you put down the strips. I've done a few take your time. It will look real good when done. Ken.
  14. Pavel, Very nice work love the detail you have put in it. Ken
  15. Thanks Clayton,Carl and Ken for your comments. I have some new pictures to show of my slow progress. I built a heater box and installed it to the inside firewall. You can't really see it but it's there. I have the visor now installed and the mirrors on..... I think that i'm going to have to build new mirror arms. I am limited to how much the doors will open. Just a small set back. I also had to make new map pockets for the doors. Door panels are on . Visor is on. One last photo. Will post more soon. Thanks. Ken.
  16. Terry, Thanks I see. I don't now much about the old Autocars. Very sweat looking. Ken.
  17. Alain, Lots of work looks very cool. It's something different. Ken.
  18. Terry, Looks really good. A couple of work horses for sure. Not sure how your going to do the exhaust. Not to sure about the bolts on the front top bumper and top fenders. Just my opinion. Wouldn't it just be welded? Very nice job though, better that what I could do I don't know enough about those old girls. Ken.
  19. Hello all. I have some more pictures of my up dates. I have the doors mounted and they work just fine. However I do have a few fit and finish issues but nothing major. The steering column has to moved over about 5mm or less than a quarter of an inch. It is resting against the drivers door when closed. The heater box has to be shaved off a little off the back as it hits the back of the dash. Right now the door panels are just attached with tape to see how everthing fits. I also see that the map pockets that I put on the doors need to come off as well as they hit the seats when they are in the lowest position. But nothing major, She's comming along. Once thats finished I can install the visor and the mirrors. Will post more soon. Thanks, Ken
