  1. Ill keep that in mind when it gets here. Should have it by the end of the month. Hoping it will be in a few days since they are only a few hours away from me.
  2. Nope it was warped in the front of the body. The hood would sit flush on one side and sit up about 3/16 next to the windshield on the drivers side. I wasn't counting on it for that price! Heck they are going for 15-20 + 6-9 bucks shipping and i'm getting the Nascar model also. I don't build them so ill trade it off for something i guess.
  3. I looked into the kit on here before i got it and there was a lot of good reviews. It was a neat little build that only took about 6 hours but i was let down mainly by the bad chrome tree. The wheels were deformed and the rear shocks were only half there. It was a parts tree that was missed by QC. I've worked in Injection Molding and it was just a incomplete tree that slipped by, happens a lot when the hopper runs low.
  4. And i have the next build!! Don't think i did too bad here, it was just listed 2 hours ago. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-REVELL-NASCAR-model-kit-Dale-Earnhardt-3-Monte-Carol-Corvette-C5-R-Daytona-/160962200613?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item257a184425
  5. I didn't know it was cast from the original molds. That explains a lot. I was thinking it was just a new tooling of the old design with retro instructions. Guess i was expecting too much from a brand new 25.00 kit........
  6. I'm watching some C5R kits right now on Ebay. Kinda hope i get one!
  7. Thanks, i wasn't sure on the color. At first i was going to build a Gasser for her but i just didn't think the color went along with the feel of the car. She likes it, that's all that matters!
  8. Thanks, i cant say its my best work. Funny how much has changed in the way i build in the last 2 years. I was almost tempted to strip it down and start fresh. Id love to do a C5R kit and go crazy with details.
  9. I wish the oil pan wasn't molded to the block. Seems lazy to me and ruins a nice pan.
  10. Well since this isn't a Nascar i guess it will go here. Maybe the Nascar section should be renamed the Motor Sports section. Started this one over 2 years ago and was turned off by a warped body. It was painted and half way done when it was boxed back up and tossed in the closet, i pulled it back out and finished it this last weekend. Just did it box stock since you cant really see inside the car due to the blacked out rear window and all the roll cage in the way. I was very sad the engine was only 2 parts, would have loved to see something more there. IMG_8054 by jrherald420, on Flickr IMG_8053 by jrherald420, on Flickr
  11. My wife caught me completely off guard on the last trip to Hobby Lobby and told me she wanted me to build her a model using a paint color she picked out. Ended up being Emerald Green so i picked up the AMT dual 25 model t kit. Man was this kit garbage....I should have took it back to the store but its a 25 mile drive back. The chrome tree was trash, all the chrome was thin and see through in spots. Very heavy and thick flashing on all the parts trees except the stock version of the kit. Heck the wheels were not even molded round!! lol The mounting tabs that held the parts on the tree would sometimes be over 1/4 inch thick, like the fan blade for instance. All said and done i don't think i will even build the stock version due to piss poor directions, i mean come on 1 exploded picture......lol enough complaining here's the only picture i took. It has the red windows but they didn't show up very good. IMG_8040 by jrherald420, on Flickr
  12. Yeah its a mid 90's Civic so the inner structure is still mainly the same into the early 2000's. I only mentioned that because what you built should be fairly accurate to the real car of that year.
  13. That's a Civic not an Accord in the real picture.
  14. Our Hobby Lobby would have had another register open before there was 3 people in line. That's my model store.....cant afford the LHS when their kits are 10-15 bucks more over what the Lobby is asking WITHOUT the coupon.
  15. Sweet, did you do all the lines and rivets with a Sharpie? Turned out really nice!
  16. Looks good, color looks fine too. My biggest issue with it is the front wheels, with only the front wheels negitive cambered in it looks weird. If the fronts are going to be like that the rears need to be a little bit also.
  17. Got the Flex-I-File finishing system, man how have i went this long without one!!!! lol Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon brought it down to 15.00 and change.
  18. Not enough rust!!!! lol I can say this as Im a Mustang owner, my 68 died a slow painful rusty death. Would like to see more pictures also!
  19. Nice, how were the decals? I'm doing the 1/12 scale GT500 right now and the decals are funky and they seem brittle.
  20. My Hobby Lobby wont let me get away with more than 1 coupon a day, i mean that is what it states on it. What i do is take my 16 month old with me and tell them hes buying it. I get some funny looks but they cant stop me from doing it.
  21. Will you be going with a more aircraft interior vs car?

Flashes makes things stand out that you wouldn't other wise see. Any underhood pics? I love me some Ford big blocks!!

I would mount the tires on a drill or dremel. Use a low speed and apply the stripe to the tire that way. Its a more consistent line than trying to do it by hand. Try it on some old tires first to get the hang of it.
