PEGASUS! Flying Mustang A/G Racer...WIP 3-29-13
jrherald420 replied to Ira's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I love seeing builds like this. Great work so far!! -
Back in my Engine Performance class while i was getting my degree in automotive repair, our teacher showed us a video he had of an F1 car they had made a program for the engine to rev the national anthem. That was wild. A quick search on Google shows a few versions of this but th one i saw was at a race track in the pits.

Looks great, only thing i see is the master cylinder looks to be upside down. The reservoir should be facing the bottom of the floor. -
Nice foil work, very clean build. Look forward to seeing more of your work!

Very true, amazing how advanced these cars are today.

Went to Hobby Lobby and got some black embossing powder to the carpet in the next model and some black acrylic paint to do washes with.

My dad installed the front and rear glass on the GN's and they all left the factory in black paint. If it was a different color than black it was done after the dealership got it.

Thanks. Thank you. Yeah i noticed that after the shots were taken and i put everything up. I was rushing so my kid wouldn't destroy my fairly newish T2i or the model. Ill try and set up a non-rushed shoot sometime. I would do it tomorrow but i get the joy of jury duty. Just what i love to do on my only day without my son.

I had to adjust the exposure on all of them, lol my boy woke up from his nap right after i set the tripod up. He was trying to grab the camera the whole time i was shooting so i was just getting it over ASAP. Thanks for the comments, keep them rolling!

I about spit a mouth full of Pepsi all over my screen!!! This is so true, i never could have just one build going on watching paint dry sucks!

Thanks. Wow just checked out the pictures again and it looks like there's not a drop of clear on the car!! lol Its got almost 4 coats of ultra gloss clear from Model Masters. I guess i need to take it outside on a sunny day and shoot it again. Man i did something wrong in Photoshop or something.

Thanks guys, im hoping to be much more active in modeling from now on. Im starting to want some of the first kits i built back when i got into the hobby.

Ill have to do some looking, its pretty neat.

Thanks guys. I like the forum alot, seems to have good traffic. I was on a F1 model forum a few years ago but it wasnt anything like this. I dont remember the name, i lost all my websites for model parts and forums 3 computers ago. Megahobby is the only site i remember buying parts from. As far as buying kits i normally only buy them from Hobby Lobby when they have the 40% off one item coupon. Got to pinch the pennies where i can. I cant believe spray paint went up to 6.39, Testors paints are 1.89 and Model Masters run 3.89. I remember when my paints were 1.50 a can and .25 a bottle!!

Its sits just right! Great looking model.

New guy here, i've been lurking for a few days now and figured i would introduce myself. Im a 30 soon to be 31yr old that has a sickness for plastic. I started building models at about age 10 and took a break through my early 20's......hard to do much when you can t see strait! lol Got back into building when i was 25 then stopped again when my son was born 16 months ago. Sadly i lost my hobby room in our apartment and now can only spray paint outside when its not windy. I had a nice airbrush and compressor but needed the money for diapers (i'm a stay at home dad, its a lot cheaper than daycare!), also had to sell off all my R/C cars and trucks to make it. Things have got a lot better and i now have time since my son is more independent now. I mainly build muscle cars but i also like building most forms of racing except Nascar. I just finished a Shelby GT350r and am now working on the 1/12 Shelby GT500. I look forward to my time here and watching all the builds! Thanks!

The paint has small flakes in it, maybe that's what is giving it the grain, or i also shot these pictures a a high ISO (1600). It hasn't been polished, that's something on my list of stuff to learn how to do. I also should have cleared over the decals. I'm going to be buying another kit and building it again after i build my 1/12 Shelby GT500.

Great build for such a short time!!

Hello all, newb here. Just got back into the game. My first kid was born 16 months ago and i lost my hobby room, on top of that im a full time stay at home dad. Its been hard to find the time to set up and build when there's a baby needing my attention. This kit was started about 18 months ago then was boxed until 2 weeks ago when i decided to pick the hobby back up. I made a lot of mistakes and found i'm very rusty. Tried using foil for the first time on the side vents, need more practice at that stuff!! Added seat belts but cant see them. Used a Detail Masters distributor, didn't like the way it came out. I rushed on painting the body and forgot to paint the engine bay before the decals went on. I ended up loosing the passenger headlight decal. Also forgot to paint the wiper arms before the glass went in. Still have to put a coil in the engine bay. Guess it could have went worse but i was hoping for better. Feel free to be honest about what you see, it will only help me become a better builder. That GT40 is pretty neat! Was it scratch built?
-
Wow, nice builds!! You sure cranked the kits out.

I feel left out, i have 4 F1 cars, a C5 racing vette, a 1970 Mustang Mach1/ Boss 302 and 2- 1/12 Shelby GT500's waiting to be built. I did have about 50 total and who knows how many glue bombs before my son was born last year but they all had to go to make room in our apartment. Sucks not having a hobby room anymore but the trade off was worth it.
