  1. Thank you. Just ordered a hood and a few other items.
  2. Anybody know any resin casters that make a flat hood for the revell fairlane?
  3. Stance set and tires chosen. Fronts from a revell Camaro kit and drag radials from Chief Joseph
  4. I'll be using the Hotrod/Revell issue of the Russ Davis Thunderbolt. It's molded in a beautiful maroon color which would be neat if I could save it and not have to paint, maybe just a clear coat and good polish.
  5. I'd still like to enter if that's an option.. If so, I'll jump in with a '64 fairlane.
  6. After several flips, I think I've finally found a keeper. I bought this 1977 c10 chevy for $3500 to be my high school rig/ racecar hauler. Aside form the wheels/tires, its mostly stock with a newer GM crate 350 and a paintjob (original color was blue). It's a solid rig and should work good for me.
  7. Thank you Carl, sorry but no new progress, I just haven't been in a building mood lately, school has really gotten in the way along with sports and work. I'm going to try to make a point of getting some work done on this soon.
  8. Sure, I'd like to see how you did yours. Thanks, I hope I will still be able to use the big block in this build.
  9. I've been so engulfed in life itself I haven't had much time to build, unfortunately I just haven't had the drive to build like I used to. I hope to make some time get back to some of these builds and make some progress. I'm going to see about cutting the front subframe out and building a tube chassis style one. if that wont work ill have to rethink my plan.
  10. Great build!
  11. Vince, By no means do I mean to hijack the thread and take away from your great build. But Jim, notice in your reference pictures, the wrinkle is slanted in the direction the wheel is turning, on Vince's model, the wrinkles are slanted the opposite way of your pictures, as if it was launching in reverse. Again, I do not mean to hijack the thread..
  12. I think it turned out great! One thing is with it posed for the diorama, it just doesn't look right without side windows. Adding them would be a nice touch.
  13. Revell came through and sent me a replacement body
  14. Thank you Erik, I'll take note of that and check as I go along to make sure no fit issues arise.
  15. I think so too! That's a brilliant idea, and probably what I'll end up doing, even with the engine set back quite a bit I don't have room for really any exhaust.
  16. The tire usually wrinkles in the direction the wheel turns, on another note, you got those from "reliable resin"?
  17. Haha! I had this block laying around so I thought I'd try something new, with these header and valve cover clearance problems, I may have to revert to a small block chevy . I don't think it will be too popular but it's different and that's what I'm going for. I had this BBC laying around so I decided to try something different. I plan on putting that 427 in a mustang build coming up.
  18. That's the issue at hand, ill have to get creative, maybe some foreword facing turbo style headers? I'm trying to figure that out now, I have cut out the firewall to make room for the engine set back which hopefully will give me some room for cylinders 1-4. I think it would be a fun little car in 1:1 scale, it would be quite a handful on little 8.5/9" radials.
  19. I picked 3 of these kits up real cheap, I plan on building a pretty mean street car that you would see out street racing late at night. Yes, that is a big block chevy shoe horned in that little engine bay. I plan on just building it up as a nasty 496 with aluminum heads, single plane intake, Holley dominator, and the imaginary forged rotating assymbly, H beam aluminum rods, 12:1 compression or so, etc. I haven't decided in a color although I might not be able to paint it till a few months into next year when it heats up. I've opened up the grille, and set the stance, after jan 1st, I'll order another couple sets of drag radials from Chief Joseph, (his products are awesome!) but until then the 9" slicks will be used for mock up purposes. The Steelies will most likely be body color or gloss black with poverty caps.
  20. I vote for a turbo car as well. I'm sure no matter what route you take, it'll be cool.
  21. Nice build, although it appears you have the slicks on the wrong way.
  22. The chute and wheelie bars are a nice touch
  23. I put some plates on the bumper and glued on the parachute mount. I also finished the smoothed firewall and I'm almost finished smoothing the inner fenders. I found some real bad news as well, the body is horribly warped, I don't think there's much I can do about it, I don't want to mess it up more by attempting to put it back with warm water. At this point I don't know if I can finish this build, I'm sure that the body will cause all kinds of havoc when it comes to final assembly so there's no point working with it. I guess I could contact Revell about purchasing a replacement body. Unfortunately I can't afford a whole new kit so this may just end up being trashed with the useful parts saved for another build. Anybody have any ideas?
