A Friendly Warning for my Model Buds......
Harold replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Or you could just give the grizzlies guns and say you're practicing your right to keep and arm bears. -

I like your Audi- that car really comes together being one color (the ones I've seen have that center section in charcoal and it makes the thing look - to my eyes- amatuerish and unfinished). Great looking car.

Apparently, she hasn't turned a lap on the track yet. She won't look as good after the 100- lap feature event . Great looking car (and I like how you went with the Victoria trim).

rants and rave section
Harold replied to evilone's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have to agree that those who know something will get them riled up and read it just to get riled up and whine about what they read are the root cause of Gregg's decision. Really, I didn't agree with a some of what was being posted, but I'm an adult and figure everybody is entitled to their own opinion. It's not like talk radio where one person is beating everyone over the head that doesn't agree with him. If I don't like what I'm reading, I'll pass over it and get on with my day. I'm sure I said a few things that people didn't like, and if I offended anyone, they should have e-mailed me directly instead of making Gregg's life miserable. Rants was our marketplace of ideas, a town square where we could all join in and add our two cents and talk about things that concern us all. -
Ah yes, a killer build on one of my favorite Fords. I like the way you adapted the underpinnings from the '60 (hmmm- now you gave me a bunch of ideas- as if I don't already have enough on the 'ol workbench ). Bee-yoo-tee-ful! There's a guy on Miller road who has a '61 Sunliner, and every time I go by there I always hope his garage is open so I can drool.

That is an incredibly great idea. I get tired of trying to detail instrument faces, and this would save everybody a world of grief. Fantastic

Sweet lookin' wagon, evil. If you showed up at my door to take my daughter out on a date, though, I might be a little leery. I'd have to check your pulse just to make sure you're not undead .I think the coolest one I've seen was built off a '73 Olds 98. I see it around Flint sometimes- flawless paint and bodywork, blackwalls and a set of Cragar SS's. That, to me, is just one bad-@$$ ride. -
Nice job, Ed. Gotta love them Buicks (too bad there's not more of 'em in scale).

Howdy and Something you have not seen before.

That is absolutely killer. It looks like its ready to set a record or two at Bonneville. -
Interesting little ride- I sqw an episode of "My Classic Car" a few years ago where Dennis Gage was featuring several of these post- WWII German microcars. My guess is that KR doesn't stand for "King of the Road" . I like it.

You mean that's not the real tanker? Criminy- that's some great work. Love the Suburan, too.

Glad to see it finished- it looks great. I had a windshield problem assembling my Lincoln, so I made one fro a 2- liter bottle. Final assembly is when the nightmares occur, but thankfully, you persevered and have a killer custom.
-
Now that is an odd- looking ride. What I could never grasp was the movie was set at the turn of the last century, but the car is early 30's Art Deco. As for your hot rod, man, that bodywork kicks butt- it actually looks like rusted, bullet- riddled metal. Unbelievable.

That is sweet, Terry. Remember- drive safely- the life you save may be mine.

Cool dog, Brian. Is she a Basset?
-
Wow, oh wow, oh wow! Those finned Chrysler products are so *&#$%@^ good looking that it doesn't take much effort to make a great custom. Gawjuss, simply gawjuss!

Killer stuff- those hinged doors are fantastic.

I like it- I have one of these kits kicking around that was in the F-Series 50th anniversary set (along with a '98 F-150). I like the work you did on the suspension to relieve the nosebleed ride height. Looking good.

At the 'Back To The Bricks' car show downtown yesterday, I came across these two cars. Both are 1965 Acadian Beaumonts (Canadian Ponchos). This got me thinking- a Revell Chevelle (no, I'm not trying to be a poet) and a Tempest/Lemans instrument panel would be the starting point. I really like the detailing on these cars- especially that GP- inspired taillight panel.

This is the Monogram High-Performance release from the early nineties. I first molded the front clip to the body and continued the panel separation line straight down (reference is a good thing). The hood 'hinges' were removed from the hood and a new one was made with ID/OD brass and epoxied in place. By putting a small crimp on the tubing after the hinge was installed allows it to stay open on its own, and it works smoothly. The wheels are Pegasus items. I cut the mounting bosses down and made new ones with ID/OD aluminum. Although not prototypical, to get a down and dirty quick poseable steering, I used some Evergreen sheet to turn the upper front spring cups into A-arms. The spindles were made from t-shaped sections of sprue and attached with straight pins. Aluminum sleeves were then added to the spindles to allow the installation of the wheels. The rear axle mounts for the tires were cleaned up and this allowed the aluminun tubing on the wheels to slide right into place. The rear springs were trimmed down to level the car all around. I extended the side skirts on the bottom with 1/32" Evergreen sheet cut 5/32" wide and attached them with Tenax. I then ran a bead of Zap-A-Gap between the new skirting and the body from the inside and gave it a shot of Zip-Kicker to add some strength. The engine was in a box of goodies someone gave me a couple years ago. Its a 5.4 Mod motor with a supercharger. I'm having fun with this one.....

Yeah, Roxy's my best bud. She's a black lab/ spaniel mix. When people ask what kind of dog she is, I say she's a Jerry Springer Spaniel. She's also a member of AARP- American Association of Retired Pooches. This pic is from 3 years ago. Well, I'm off to the Buick bash at the Cultural Center. I want some detail shots of a '62 Electra.

Looks like a lot of these cars were Photoshopped- that roof looks the same on a lot of them. A coachbuilder will add longer rear doors with window openings that match the rest of the roof. Nonetheless, they are some interesting concepts. Here's an idea for you.....

My dog Roxy had been under the weather since last week, but now she's doing a whole lot better. Best friend I ever had- she doesn't gripe when I'm up to my elbows in a project, she's happy to have a roof over her head and a good human for a pet, and she doesn't whine about my financial state. We've been through a lot together, and last week I was afraid it was the end of the line, but she's got that sparkle back in her eyes and she's eating again. Now I can sling plastic and not feel guilty about it.

Yeah, on one of my cars I had to replace the headlight belts, Kanutin valve, muffler bearings, Johnson rod and the piston return springs and it still ran like ######. Then we figured out what was wrong with the car- it was the loose nut behind the wheel.
