Added a strip to the rear edge of the hood the create the flip-up of the 1:1. Also added windshield clips.
  2. Excellent.
  3. Modelers has made some excellent kits, the Chaparral 2D being one. Nissan R380
  4. And/or they didn't want to waste any of the racing budget re-painting front fenders.
  5. Very nice Jim. I've always liked bumble bee stripes.
  6. I've read they acid dipped the bodies like they did in Trans-Am. Maybe they were concerned that the gill opening wouldn't hold up to such treatment.
  7. Outstanding.

Thanks Kevin & Andrew. Yea Jason I tend to over document my builds. Rick, would appreciate any AAR Team stories you would care to share.
  9. Most '71 Pro Stockers didn't have the gills. Rather than build a new car they just added the grille and valance to update their '70.
  10. If I recall correctly, based on this book, the 383 was available in the base model Barracuda as well.
  11. Asking if the base model '71 Baracuda could be ordered (maybe by Executive Order) with a Hemi?
  12. Yea the current plan is to graft in the 1/24 gills so the PE would fit, I have already ordered the set. I did a rubbing over tracing paper of the 1/24 gills and taped it to the 1/25 scale body and they will work. Blending them into the body without damaging the raised trim is the challenge. And yes also considering leaving it as a base model Barracuda which as you know didn't have the gills.
  13. Looks good Kevin. I thought about trying to open the slots by sanding down the back side but not sure it would work without destroying the grille.

Very nice looking build Andy. I'm currently building the '70 Trans-Am car and also working on a '71 conversion.
  15. Anyone used the MCG '71 Cuda PE set? How well do the gill surrounds fit?

Your welcome Jeremy and thanks Marty & Kevin. I choose the Revell 1/24 scale grille over the Johan as I think it is more accurate. The Johan grille is an arc rather than the correct V shape.
  17. Didn't your parent teach you Gary that drug (stores) are dangerous?
  18. Nice work Ray.

  20. Interesting that the body is highly finished but the wheel covers are weathered. Nice.

I've been asked to better illustrate how I made the grille. Here is a photo of the 1/24 scale grille and valance. After separating the grille I removed a section of material between the headlights. This moved the headlight openings closer together and reduced the overall length to allow it to fit the 1/25 scale body.

Thanks John. A Gran Coupe would be a unique build but I have something with a little more attitude in mind.
  23. Not an easy kit to build, nice work Pat.

Thanks Steve. I first had the separate the grille from the valance, the 1/24 scale kit has them molded as one piece. Then sectioned the grille in between the headlights at both ends to reduce the length. Then reshaped it to fit the grille opening on the 1/25 scale body. For the valance I had to remove a section, its molded integral to the body and graft in a section of the 1/24 scale part. Then worked it to shape. Definitely not a drop in parts swap.
