Well, here we go! Got some pics of progress on the Supra so far (I will also be running this in On the Workbench). Custom turbo from solder and aluminum heatshield around it. Aluminum tubing and rubber couplers from heatshrink tube. Going to do: -Different subs in interior (got some parts box Audiobahns) -Carpet (embossing powder) -Wiring in engine compartment (blue black and orange like the real car) -Individual taillight lenses (red, amber, clear with black surround like the real car) -Different wheels/tires from an Aoshima kit (five spoke larger diameter than kit wheels)

Got the body ready for paint yesterday.......Tamiya Fine white Primer sanded smooth as glass -
Found this Fast and the Furious Supra at a local swapmeet/show for $10 unbuilt. Always wanted the car so I bought it. Not to mention, I am building it for the FnF Community build thread. We all know the shortcomings of the AMT kits and this was no exception! The body was full of pitmarks and you-name-its. I wasn't too worried though, because I had prepared myself for the worst. First order of business was to (of course) open up the hood vents. Next, took to the the horrible pits all over the body (which was so thick anyway) alot of them were just easily sanded out With that behind me, I was able to get on with the show and do some fun stuff finally.......! The engine, which was mostly ok (and I do only mean mostly) got the first attention last night. The problem with it is the turbo setup made no sense at all....! So I redid it based on the actual pictures of the real car. The turbo was made from solder and the couplers are heatshrink tubing with BMF clamps. Seats are next! (No they aren't like this out of the box!......)

Was good to meet (and talk with) you last night Nick. You are right that there were a lot of great builds there and the people are great! Picked up a 93 Camaro from Joe for my 12 year old daughter and I to put together as well.

Did you eye up the Judge with the Nascar wheels? The Judge would look pretty sweet with Bassett racing wheels.

Thanks Carl! More to come. Could be a coincidence.....? I did do a LOT of cleanup to the body and the wheels/adding brakes totally changed the look. Here is the kit \/ -

Hey Wade, Greg Wann makes this Eleanor body out of resin. It is a beautiful rendition of it too. Not that you are doing a bad job.....just thought you might want to know.

I wouldn't have it any other way! Thanks Michael! Thank you Bruce! -
I would like to get into this with the Supra if that is ok. Just picked one up at a swapmeet recently......I plan on going VERY detailed with it with a lot of non-kit parts. Will start the build after I finish the NSX I am currently working on.

Thanks Jonathan! It is the Revell Snap tite NSX. I added some lines and hoses to the engine but for the most part, it isn't too bad for a Snap! -

I made some new lenses for the backup lights in the rear taillight section.....this was a pain to fit into it without having any gaps. Current state of the model is in etching primer.......but I am thinking of doing it Imola Orange with a black top. -

Found this Acura NSX Revell Snaptite built at a swapmeet. Bought it for $10. It was red with the factory wheels/tires and very little detail.....but it was clean so I had to have it! I immediately dis-assembled it and began the details starting with the engine that was originally painted all silver. Ended up painting it like the Type R NSX which I felt fit the build direction better. Next, I went after the lifeless chassis to add the needed look of alloy that was not quite there.... as well as adding brakes (which the Snap tite did not have) I used the rotors/calipers from the Revell Enzo and painted them like Project Mu stoppers. Almost forgot the TE37's I added from a recent trade! Next task was to change the lifeless engine cover to that of the Type R NSX...... I used the original cover for only a sizing tool, then I made the new cover from sheet acetate and installed stainless steel screen material into it. -

New pics of the forward progress on the driver's side turbo and header. Heatstaining was achieved with different colors of Sharpie over the lead solder. Took these with the Canon 30D ( I think I am starting to get the hang of it! ) -

Thank you for the compliments Ken. You are a very talented model builder!! VERY original builds and so crisp and clean. I am currently working on the headers which are going to be solder into the collectors......the turbos are done and were scratchbuilt out of sprue and spare parts, the pressure and return lines will be braided stainless steel with Aeroquip fittings. The top 2 "things" in the picture below are what they gave for the exhaust headers in the kit! -

PICS AS PROMISED: Yesterday's progress on the fuel injection system/ emblems on engine. Irratating that most of the work I did is hidden by the intake plenum.....oh well, I know it is there! Ferrari emblems were VERY delicate and were only held together by the application film. --(Detailwise, everything you see was added or made by me.......the kit included nothing but the big parts.)
