Just finished this one a couple months back. Tried some new techniques on painting to help give a better finish. Due to a few mods with hoses the air intake didn't QUITE fit right . And the firing order was not wired correctly but I built it for me, not for show.

Been away for a while due to some changes in life.....different job, relocation, divorce.....blah blah blah. Anyway after things finally calmed down I got back into building with encouragement from the girlfriend, my oldest son who likes to build with me, and good friends in the model club. This 58 is a build I started over a year ago and completed this past summer finally.

I work for a car hauling company and think your build is very nice looking. Wish I would have seen this sooner I could have gotten you pics of some of our units when they're unmarried from their trailers for your fifth wheel. Looks great though! Don't forget the small metal flaps that run from the sides of the fifth wheel extention to the tractors mudflaps. -

Primo build. The color choices are spot on perfect. I'm really diggin the drive train color. The choices in color and details make this a standout build.

I'm glad you all like it. It was a rather fun build for being a curbside. I was really pleased with how the paint came out on it. This was also my first attempt in over 18 years to do the amount of bodywork needed to blend in the front clip. Erik88.....any chance you got more pics of that GN in your profile pic? I'm building a model of one at present.

Lone Star Build
Christopher J replied to baddgass's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Ive driven over the road for some year(in the office now), I must say this quite an awesome build. I do believe there is an articulating drive axle available. Check out Sourkroiys web page for his truck parts, he has numerous resin axles of all types. Being that yours I'd already set I'm with you on the fact it's a model......so let's all use our imaginations a bit and some "make belive" in our minds and just say the darn thing would turn in real life and enjoy build progress. :-) -
Thanks Bill LOL!! There will be no "black spray can" incidents with this one.

F-150 Lightning
Christopher J replied to Christopher J's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks guys, much appreciated. The wheels are Pegasus Phat Daddies spinners I lined them up for the pic. The lightning on the body and trailer is painted on. The body is primed than painted Diamond Dust so the blue will be brilliant. The blue is masked using Parma paint mask for rc car bodies. After the edges are nice and sealed the metallic black went on followed by Andre coats of clear. -
Thanks guys. I appreciate your words. MikeyB08 the front was done by removing the molded in stubs for the wheels. Next I used #64 bit and drilled a hole in the A arm for a straight pin. I took some aluminum tubing, cut to size and then sized down the inside hole with two more smaller diameter tubes to fit the pin. The inner most tube is glued to the pins and the spindles rotate on them. I kept two little pieces that I had cut off to glue on the end of the inner tube to hold the spindles in place. The inner tube was left about 1/8 long for that purpose. I wanted to put a tie rod in so they would move together but there wasn't room with the chassis and suspension on this kit are molded and mated to each other.

Here is my Ford F-150 Lighting that I finished not too long ago with a car trailer that I put my 66 Impala in.

Made the front steerable and lowered the ride height by making my own spidles. Rear suspension i adjustable Mural on the trunk from Fraklin Ink Engine bay under way Random shots Paint is Testors Lacquer "Revving Red" w/3 coats of Tamiya Pearl and 3 coats of Testors "Wet Look" clear. Once final assembly is complete I'll go over the body with 8000 and 12000 grit paper then polish it up.

Currently working on Monte SS. I know low riders are everyones "flavor" but it's what I'm currently into building........ The Interior is Tamiya Tan with black foil. Lighter tan flocking for the carpet. The photo etch and scale down prints are from www.detailjunkees.com

Off to good start, stay at it. -
If it's not too bad knock the roughness down with 220 (very lightly) then 400 paper to smooth it out then hit with another wet coat of the black.

Great looking model. The paint job looks ultra smooth. Very nice!

A big thanks to all for your thoughts concerning my build as well as your sharing your feelings about what should be different Orr is spot on. I love the thoughts and criticisms as it helps one to get better. Mrdarkmonkey the decals aren't available at present, but as soon as he gets a computer running again I'm sure they.will be.
