Great build. I love the old Chevys. That came out nice.

Good looking build. It came out great! Cole Camp huh? One of my drivers lives there in Cole Camp.

I love it! I'm not a big mopar guy but they did the Magnum, Charger, and 300 well in my opinion. Your build definately does them justice, absolutely beautiful.

Thanks for all the kind words. Crazy Jim, those are decals ordered from Franklin Ink. Until his PC went belly up he made full body decals for a number of model kits. Danno the fender is now meant to look as if the paint had been rubbed down to bare metal. It suffered a mishap when I was shooting clear. I accidently grabbed a can of black when I got distracted and put my can of clear down. They were next to each other on my bench. I didn't get much on there and was able to get the black off with careful use of cotton swabs dampened with lacquer thinner. In the process I thinned the existing clearcoat more than I thought and tapped over the decal to protect it so I could touch up the yellow. When I pulled my tape it pulled the decal. Once that happened I decided to go the "FUBAR'd" fender route.I thought it was a decent semi save.

The Impala I've been laboring on is finally done. Got it done about a month back, but the forum was down. Anyway.....that said, here's the finished product...... Sitting in the "parking lot" I made with my 6yr old. Rear view and trunk view Got the wiring and plumbing all done.... Front view

Sad news on the warped body. At the least it gives you stuff for the parts box minus body.

BTW, I've got the Monte kit too and I planned on cutting the mounting points for the tires and locating new ones further up to correct the ride height/stance.

The build is looking nice so far. Great job on getting that black to lay down so smooth. If I may ask, what are your plans for the GN, even if you have to "borrow" it's front suspension? If it needs a good home, let me know, I'd be willing to "adopt" for a fair price.

Nice work he's got going there! Keep us updated on his progress. There's something to be said about building with your kid. Mine ran across some of my models I had built in highschool (94) up to about 3 years ago, last November. He expressed interest in wanting to build and we've been at it ever since January of this year. He's only 6 so I'm still doing most of the building.

I was wondering the same as I thought only the GNX was a turbo. Now I gotta go look it up....... OK, so I looked it up as I remebered that the GN was a turbo V6 but here's some of what I found on a google search: The Grand National performance version of the Regal had already been available, but for that last year Buick upped the ante even further. With the help of McLaren Engines, the Grand National was transformed in the GNX, one of the quickest cars produced in North America in the 1980s. The turbocharged V6 of the Grand National was completely reworked by McLaren Engines. The turbo and intercooler were both upgraded and the engine's computer was reprogrammed. The four speed automatic gearbox received its own oil cooler. These modifications resulted in a stunning performance increase, bringing the boxy Regal on par with contemporary sports cars. Like for the Grand National, the GNX's top speed was electronically limited to 200 km/h. Outwardly the changes were a little more subtly, with the bright 'GNX' badge in the blackened out grille as the only obvious change. Other changes included a power bulge on the engine cover, vents behind the front wheel arches and wider fenders. more boost on the turbo, bigger intercooler, bigger cam, factory ladder bar, basically everything was more decked out

I've been working on a few details while waiting for my black bare metal foil (STILL!!) I finally got the trunk lid interior with the amps glued in as well as the interior of the doors. Here are a few mock up pics of the car and car with the trailer I'm working on for it. I'm sure some will notice the injector marks in the trailer walls...since the trailer is a quickie build I didn't spend too much time on interior prep as the car will draw the attention and the trailer is just a prop for the display for next months show. v Lots of wires to trim and get glued into place....
-
Trailer wall...painted to match. I started off with Alclad for the chrome trim but it came out a little dark against the particular black so I went with foil instead. You can see the difference around the side door. Front interior wall. I used decal from the mural sets I ordered from Franklin Ink. Interiors I practiced some airbrushing on using mask and decals from Franklin Ink chassis and interior mock up

Thought I'd share some of the recent progress on the truck and the trailer I putting behind it. I got the chassis built up, motor built as well as the trailer painted to match and mostly built. This is the project I'm building to display with the 66 Impala I'm planning to put into a show next month. Cab and Bed with a few coats of clear, not yet polished... painted chassis and motor. The radiator shroud and anti sway bar need some black touching up..... Exhaust, painted chrome (Alclad) and aluminum

Looks great for your first time with Alclad, they came out nice. Mustangs are my favorite car (been through 2) so I've been watching you updates with interest. The build looks to be coming along pretty well. I like the work you've shown. -
That is nice looking. Beautiful job on the chassis. Looking forward to seeing how you progress with it.

Just a few udates on the build so far...... The resin calipers I purchase are sanded painted and fitted. The front suspentions, tough stationary unlike the rear is now fitted with springs and hydraulic cyclinders. Had to modify the tranny support for the RGE tranny to clear it and motor sit level . But it's in there now... Open to suggestions and any mistakes I've made that can be pointed out before its sitting on the judges table next month.......

That's flat out sharp. I love the interior colors. Black BMF?? Didn't know they had it. Gonna need some of that for sure on my current build!

Chevrolet Caprice police car (with lights)
Christopher J replied to Clemi's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looking good so far. I'm thinking that if you wet sand your paint job a bit you can get the grainyness out and have a nice smooth surface for decals and clear coat.
