  1. Going to the pawn shop and trading a model I put together for an old, decent laptop computer with windows 7.
  2. Dawn Wells - then and now. Mary Anne for those less than 70 that missed out on Gilligan's Island.
  3. I will check out g scale. Didn't think of that. Thanks. Peace
  4. crickets chirping...truly...i still haven't figured out if they are in my head or in the woods out back bit that part doesn't matter. I like them. They don't yell, lie, or need me for anything. Peace
  5. My already fat head is swelling. Thank you all for the kind words. Got another one of these kits and might try to make natchez, then do the following diorama. The truck is underway. Just got to find figures. BTW found a wire like plastic in the jewelry section of hobby lobby. Cheap, glues easy and ideal for the many cables on this thing or most any tight cable or rope. O.012 thick was smallest. Name escapes me buy there were many varieties. Comes on spool bit goes straight once out. About five bu ks for small spool that has more than enough for several builds. Peace.
  6. All 3 of the big names were available. L6, v6, v8, and v12. Peace.
  7. Yeah...Part of the dream is to go back to my old kodak, hit the drugstore for film, a pack of cigarettes and a malt. Then, go spend a day burning 5 rolls and develop it myself. That, to me is simple, pleasing, and very rewarding. Peace.
  8. Lindberg USCG Patrol Boat. Nice little kit. Still working on a new stand, flags, and minor things. Peace
  9. Thanks Gary. It is the people that are the problem...women especially. Hmmmmm..... anyway, the search goes on. I'll look into the Henry Ford set. Wasn't aware of that one. If you happen to think of/find others, please holler. Otherwise, I might have to go stroll the aisles of hobby lobby in sections usually avoided as rumor has it they contain kryptonite. Peace. .
  10. Just noticed this thread. What a delight! It will be a regular in the future. No drama, trolls, wet blankets, etc. So what pleased ME today? Closing my eyes dreaming it was Christmas time in Rural Retreat, VA in 1957 and I was there. As the current saying of the day goes....."wait for it" . BTW, this was NOT staged. Very few of his works were. O Winston Link was one of my heroes for sound and photography. Incredible stuff worth checking out. Peace
  11. I have never done much with people/dioramas but want to take the plunge. I am wanting to recreate the following type settings in 1/25 scale. Nothing is found in the "usual" places with this period/style and (of course) don't want to spend a fortune. Any suggestions? Peace.
  12. THANK YOU! Masterbox has some nice stuff! Peace.
  13. Just asking...if I wanted to build a diorama around Jungle Jim's car and (of course) include Jungle Pam in 1/25 scale, does anyone have any suggestions where to find figures (pun intended) that would be suitable for a starting point? Peace
  14. Famous last words but I'm going out on a limb here not having attempted this particular kit with my own eyes. The sleeper is an "add on" instead of integral like Volvos on the 377. There should be a large opening in the back of the cab...assuming your kit is something like this https://auto.scale-model-kits.com/products/Peterbilt-377-A-E-IT0740.html Filling it in and sticking in a back window shouldn't be terribly difficult, me thinks. The size of the back window is one of those things Paccar offers a hundred different variations on...or at least used too back when I was in this racket. If you are going to do a day cab, consider shortening the frame if you're going for "run of the mill" kind of thing. Check out www.truckpaper.com for lots of good prototype pix. Peace.
  15. As long as blasphemy is being propagated, I'll throw in my two bits as well. Several of the common Chevy/GMC 4x4's kits of this era came with white or chrome spoke wheels styled like you are after. I don't know if there would be a mounting problem, but it's worth investigating. They are plentiful and cheap. Revell, MPC, AMT, etc all had/still offer these kits. Peace.
  16. I wonder the same thing and found nothing online to say for sure what, if anything, covers it. It would make a nice spot for a mother in law, backseat driver, contraband or ???? Find the correct answer what if anything actually was over that thing and you will have answered one of life's great mysteries. Personally, I placed what looks like a piece of cardboard like headliner material over the top of it to represent "accessible...sort of". Peace.
  17. Thanks Bill. Yup, 'fraid it's the same old me. I've moved to east Tennessee recently and discovered Ollies "good stuff cheap" stores. They are dumping all sorts of Lindberg kits right now for 10-25 bucks. I did one of their Robert E Lee riverboats (posted a month or so ago here) and picked up a couple more along with the shrimp boat and the Dodge L700 truck kits. If you are anywhere near one of their stores, grab 'em while they got 'em. I've got a 1/16 scale Chevy Bison semi I've been scratchbuilding from literal junk for 3 years and need to give it a rest as it is down to dotting I's and crossing T's. Hopefully, these kits (along with writing fiction) will keep me going thru the winter. Peace.
  18. A curiosity of your header drew me to this expecting some sort of military gun seing 75mm. Admittedly, "creatures" not my "thing" however your paintwork is incredible! Fantastic job! I love to see a youtube or something of your painting skills on display! Peace.
  19. Thank you for the prompt replies. I use brass wire for the handrails (and made new stanchions). Thanks for the suggestions on the coiled rope. Pix in a few days. Enjoyable kit that turned out pretty well. Enjoying these Linberg boat kits for a change of pace. Just have to finish up a few little odds and ends and make a new/better stand). Peace.
  20. Will have some pix in a few days but have three questions not having any sea legs. For those familiar with this kit, what in the world are those two THINGS mounted on the bow that mounted on an incline/launcher. Second, the barrels at the rear. Are these supposed to be depth charges? Third, how in the world do I "coil" thread so it looks like rope laying neatly on the deck by the cleats. http://round2corp.com/product/u-s-coast-guard-patrol-boat/ Thanks. Peace
  21. Thanks. I used the kit tires. Painted them with Valejo flat black with a touch of brown mixed in. They really turned out better than I expected. "Warning Will Robinson" I say to anyone considering this kit. This is my second "round 2" MPC kit. The other was the 1/8 Rupp minibike. I don't know what is going on with them but the plastic in both of these kits was AWFUL. It was gooey and flexible....almost like little green army men from the 60's and 70's we used to destroy by the bagful. I had to bake the primer to ever get it to dry and then the top coat as well before it would harden. You can bend a piece 25 degrees and eventually come back into place. Thorough cleaning with bleech-white didn't help. Also, expect to spend more time cleaning up flash/seams as anything. Finally, maybe the assembly order in the instructions works for others but not me. After banging my head against the wall and half a dozen teardowns/reassemblies, I finally decided to put the engine/trans in, followed by the drivers seat, then the rear wing as the final 3 steps. I wouldn't waste time with the so called "fuel line". Make your own out of wire afterwards. It will look better and cause few fits of rage. The above rant is simply the opinion of aa guy that's blind in one eye, can't see out of the other and fills in at Home Depot when the paint shaker machine is broken. Peace.
