I purchased the AMT 69 Hurst Olds Cutlass kit a few months back & was wondering if anyone has built this kit yet. Was thinking of possibly making this my next build.
-
Little more progress this evening. I have finally polished out the side mirrors & have the PE mirror parts installed also & the PE parts look nice installed & also picked out a license plate to install. I'm hoping to maybe wrap up this build this weekend & I have already pulled out another kit for maybe my next build.

Amazing John ! -
Went to local HS yesterday and was able to get a odorless CA glue to glue in the rear deck windows which I may do this evening.
-
Made a little more progress this afternoon, got the door sills & side vent assembly's installed & the engine compartment cover & the side glass on both sides. Been having a little trouble installing the three glass pieces that sit over the engine compartment & attach to the under side of the hatch, they are at an angle & sit in recessed slits one on top of the other so going to hobby store tomorrow to see If they have any CA glue that will not fog the clear plastic pieces.
-
More progress today! Got the headlamp covers on & the rear plus the side panels & side vents for engine cooling & brake cooling.
-
Thank you Walter ! Working on getting the headlamp covers on & the rear tail lamp covers on today.
-
Well tonight i was able to get the headlamp assembly's and the front and rear vent assembly's installed & the headliner.

Well John It is just plain AWESOME !! -
Got some more detailing done on the interior & attached two more PE parts to the clear pieces that are on each side of the car that sit behind the doors and the PE script above the glove box on dash.
-
Thank you John ! I really appreciate the support ! I will be bringing this build to the NNL West next year & hopefully a few more builds that I have planned to build and hope to complete.

Your The Man John ! Awesome paint skills ! or should I say all around building skills ! -
Little more progress this evening, I assembled the rear tail light assemblies & installed the rear glass.
-
Well I polished out the body & panels again and it does look much better now.I will start on the rear tail light assemblies next and touch up the black trim that is painted on the widows & start on the final assembly of the doors also. Thank you all for looking at the progress of this build & the inspiring comments to keep me on track and to be patient while building this Lambo.
-
More progress this weekend ! Applied more of the decals to the body the third brake light & the Lambo hood emblem & the emblems on the wheels plus the decals for the brake calipers. Chose some of the decals over the PE parts because I think they look better on the car. Was also able to rub out the clear today but the roof needs a little bit more work though & was also able to mask the windshield and the four small side widows and paint the black for the trim.

Gluing Photo Etched Parts
Metalmad replied to Metalmad's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Wel I have solved my dilemma ! After reading all of the replies I used Pledge Floor Wax but finding the Pledge was a bit of a pain to find but I'm very satisfied on how the screens turn out . Thank you all that replied to my post ! -
Here are some more updated pictures. Finally was able to find a bottle of Pledge Floor Wax this morning so i could use to attach the photo etched screens to the clear parts & then install to the vent openings & was also able to wet sand the first couple clear coats & shoot a few more coats of clear on the body & body panels.

Gluing Photo Etched Parts
Metalmad replied to Metalmad's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Only problem I see with the using clear coat is that if it does not look right I can't really correct it. At least with the Krystal Klear it is water based so if it does not look right I can correct it. -
In the process of building the Aoshima Lamborghini Aventador & I purchased the detail parts which are basically photo etched parts. My issue is that where the vents are & on the engine cover the photo etched parts are to be placed over clear plastic pieces then the pieces are glued to there places per the instructions. The issue I'm having is glueing the photo etched parts which are basically honey comb screens onto clear pieces without the glue being visable. The photo etched screen I glued on last night I used the Krystal Clear adhesive & after it dried you could see where it had been glued. Its not real noticeable but I can see it so does anyone have any suggestions on how to glue the photo etched screens onto the clear model pieces without the glue being noticed. Thank You
