Been thinking about my next build which is the Hurst Cutlass & I'm going to paint it white but the white I'm going to use will be Pearl White Lacquer so I use Donn Yosts technique on painting the body's so my question is do I still lay down the silver first then spray the White Pearl ? Not sure how the coverage will be over the silver base.
Started work on the engine compartment this evening.Going to see if I can possibly scratch build a Supercharger but i need to get some reference pictures & some pictures of the engine bay.
On my last two paint jobs I've had a issue with the paint chipping off around any area that has an edge. My painting method I use is from Don Yost painting DVD. I've always used lacquer based paints including the primer & if I paint with the can I've always used Tamiya lacquers and I always clear over the paint and it is lacquer based also. So any ideas on how to address this? I know be more careful while handling the car when mocking up & assembling but I try to be very conscious when handling the painted body but it seems an edge gets the paint chipped off.
Been awhile since I've had time to work on the Aventador so here are some updated pictures. It's coming along slowly plus I've been working on the final assembly of the 68 Dart. Just wish I had more time to build but sometimes there are more important things in life that come first.
Saw the new Show Room ZL Camaro at local Hobby Shop while I was picking up some paint & does not come with the motor ? Has anyone picked this kit up yet ?
Finally getting back to the Dart. Got the body on the chassie & the wheel & tire combo mocked up, changed out the rear tires so now waiting the glue to dry so I can move forward & get this wrapped up .Also looked for a new ride today also.
John how did you do at the GSL ? Saw some pictures of some of your builds that where there.
The Rat Rod your going to build will be quit a car I'm sure when you get it completed.
While I was starting my Lamborghini Aventador build I have either missed placed or someone else in my household has thrown away some of the parts to this build so i have broke down & ordered another Aoshima Lamborghini Aventador for just the few parts that are missing. i did not want to spend the money on this but really had no choice to replace the needed parts that have disappeared and I did not want to finish this build without the kit being assembled the correct way. I guess its another lesson learned in the life of a Model Car builder. On the bright side I will have some cool extra goodies to put in the parts box.
Looks Awesome ! I have the Aoshima Kit that I have started but not sure when it will be finished. I have pictures posted here on the work bench forum & is in paint now & might clear it tonight.
Thanks for the feed back ! I actually bought another 64 GTO plus a 66 awhile back so I just might build it again but I have a few other kits I'd like to start & finish first.
