Salvino's Pre-Production Richard Petty 1971 RoadRunner
satterwhite78 replied to Art Laski's topic in NASCAR
Well that's a treat! Any other "tantalizing tidbits" in the box? -
This is "Bad Luck"......when you are attempting to put back into the model case and it slips out for its own test drive ... Fortunately it did hit the carpet and everything can be fix with very minimal repair. I think my heart just started back.

Went so far back in my stash when I found this one I thought I met my younger self who just bought it...lol! I LOVE Dodge and Chrysler products but those early 70's Pontiacs will make you pull a muscle in your neck when turning to look at one ride by....... This is "Good Luck"....

Traded for this kit and a 70 Johan Cutlass last summer and finally got around to finishing up a few weeks ago. While Googling 70 Pontiac GTO, I came across a 70 GTO in Mint Turquoise poly with a red Interior from the factory. Intriguing as it was, I didn't think I could roll with the red Interior as a permanent fixture but who knows....taste does change over time. At the moment, I'm debating whether to leave the spoiler off or order a "factory" replacement. It's still fast either way ..

One extra body in the parts box, one Super Stocker chassis assembly and a urge to do something different.....
-
Picked up the NextGen Camaro in the RollOut Livery when first issued. Blown away by kit would be a Understatement! I figured there would be a flooded of aftermarket decals that would follow, so I went ahead and built the chassis but left the body untouched until I found a paint scheme to my liking....and I really like this one. The 2022 #99 Coca Cola Darlington 500 of Daniel Suarez.

Hey!, for what it's worth....It looks like a standard base Sebring option. It's a refreshing look from the Roadrunner package we see most of the time. I like it!

The more I look at it , the more I like it. I betcha you spent more time BMF than it did to paint and assemble. It did for me when I built one. Great job!

MPC Super Stocker that was reissued a few years back. A great slump buster, other than that, an enjoyable OOB build, I came across an Bobby Allison grill/bumper assembly from a old parts box. Since both ends of the bumper were either cracked or broken off, the grill seemed salvageable.....so why not. Definitely changed the front end look. BONUS..BONUS..BONUS..... Thought I would add some extras....Some other Competitors from the pits..

A time capsule of elegance and a great build!

Beautiful! Hadn't seen any posting of late but knew something good was gonna come out of your garage!
-
that didn't get posted due to weather, late coming home from work, something else going on and/or laziness on me for the most part... RICHARD PETTY 76 SEASON CHARGER DAVE MARCIS 74 SEASON CHARGER MARTY ROBBINS 74 SEASON CHARGER BUDDY ARRINGTON 74 SEASON ROAD RUNNER Still have have few more future Charger builds coming but with all the "plastic candy" coming out it's gonna be another busy year in the "garage" Enjoy and hope to see your post soon!

The last built for 2021. Not as good as I hoped for but was something different from all the Nascar Chargers that went through the "garage". OOB except for the rear tires/rims. Flat black base coat with Spaz Stix Mirror Chrome finish with Rustoleum Magenta for the frame......

For Tuffy's Garage......Testor Metallic Silver. Thanks for looking!

Sleek and sexy...one of the smoothest lines from GM. Great color and background. One piece of constructive criticism....your parking lot pavement is to clean. Someone by now would have laid down some 60 series rubber or have a hemorrhaging valve cover.lol!

Question about the Richard Petty 72 Charger
satterwhite78 replied to RT6PK's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The 71/72 Chargers C pillars have the slant as seen on the box. The 73/74 Chargers have the lazy L slant. Quite possibly you got a unintentionally incorrect package 73/74 body... -
Wow! Seeing your build took me back almost 50 years. It was a great kit, a fun build and a model that anyone who has a love for this hobby and cars needs in their collection. Fantastic job!

An Alternate Timeline presented......Petty and Plymouth negotiations stall trying to get Petty to return to the Mopar fold. Ford catches wind of such and doubles down on factory support. Other team owners cry foul and Corporate sponsorship of race teams is a new frontier that ignites funding war that arrives 10 to 12 years early. With this new development, Petty Enterprises seizes the opportunity when approached by STP for sponsorship without knowledge of the Ford proposal and a loop hole in the Ford contract on Primary Sponsorship. Or in other words: What if.... The Chassis is that of a JRSalvinos Charger. While having 3 builds going simultaneously back early this summer, I mistakenly glued one chassis in the wrong hole thus making the wheel base longer and unusable for the Charger. Glued so well that I could not separate without destroying the chassis, I set aside the kit. Then it dawned on me that I might be able to use another body/make. Definitely did not want to trash a kit so off to the parts box. Knowing that 1970/71 would be a transitioning to truck trailing arm, I was beginning to feel like I just might luck out till I found a Revell 70 Torino body. The 70 Revell body was already prepped and primered for a race car project that got sidetracked. I came across a resin flat hood and extra grill that long ago picked up and tossed in the parts box. Since I had quite a few #43 decal sheets, all white pinstriping on the Torino came from the JRS decal with some splicing and overlapping. The 429 was an extra from a Polar Light kit. The engine bay cross member and hoop had to be modified to accommodate the Ford behemoth. Other than that a much taller back panel separating the interior from the trunk was required. Also added are some of the WIP pics.

Whew! If Gramdma finds out what you've done with her Mercury, I don't think the back of the barn will still be standing! A friend gave me the same kit a few years back to do a Nascar version......I see that "patience " has it virtues..lol! Now I want to build one. Great job and for thinking "outside" the box. Love em when they stand n go!

Just go ahead and send it to me......lol
