Awesome....Freakin Awesome!

I've always said, "To have nothing to do, I always say busy!". As much as I enjoy building and see others post their accomplishments, I can't always keep up on the photo ops and posting, so it's easier to post all at once when there is more of a relax atmosphere...... 1970 Dodge Charger: The Revell FnF kit bought at the Clemmons,Nc meet this past fall. Falls in line with the quality of the 68 and 69 Revell kits and I'm sure they got a winner when it hits the shelves. Got the last back seat and a rear tail light panel with lenses from Missing Link when it was posted on the forum this past fall and used the hood from a Revell 69 Daytona and used MM Firery Orange and a flat black base to simulate the Factory Color of Burnt Orange to complete. Defintely plan to buy more for stock and NASCAR builds.... 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle A resin body that a friend gave me. Used the AMT 69 Chevelle for a donor. The second build I put a vinyl top on using masking tape. 1968 Plymouth Belvedere another resin . didn't bother to open the hood but used spare parts from the AMT 69 GTX. US Army Jeep The Hogan's Hero Jeep kit. A nice diversion because I only had to use Olive Drab, Flat Black and Flat Aliminum.... 1956 Desoto Firedome Bought this kit and a another, 59 Dodge Adventurer, at a Farm Sale a few years ago. While my buddy was looking for a small tractor to cut his 4 acre yard, I was keeping a eye open for any kits. Found the two in a wooden basket with old cowboy boots and other odds and end. Thinking that no one else would care and pass over I kept a close eye and ear until bidding started. I was thinking $20 while the owner decided to bunch up a few more items to that basket and off the bidding went to the 40 and up range. Didn't win the bid but I did get with the buyer and offer $15 for both to which he gladly accepted and even threw in a free soda that my buddy had just come back from the concession stand with....that he bought to "sweeten" the deal. Just a old Johan Promo kit with tinted green windows and a plain bottom plate... 2016 Dodge Challenger R/T A coworker at the Dodge dealership gave me the kit because of lack of interest. Since I had just bought the real deal the 1st of the year......why not? The kit was the AMT 2009 Challenger. A little body work and mods to the grill and rear tail lights and the wheels/rims from the Revell 2013 Camaro (since they are more accurately represented for the 16 Challenger). I call it the Mini Dodge to the real Dodge.... The REAL Dodge....

I wouldn't be surprised if someone saw it cruising Woodward Ave....

A definite want to do for my collection. I do see however a project in the background that I'm gonna be starting soon. Better get started on the "chin ups" since you have "raise the bar" ! Excellent Vintage AMC Nascar Thunder ! p.s.: You can send it back when you've finish it! LOL

Wow.....literally loss for words ( which is rare.) The extra work and time is evident and the final result is....Wow!

Definitely a Winner Circle finalist.

My dad often recalled being at the Charlotte race that day. From his vantage point on the opposite side of the track he recalled seeing the fireball erupt and subsequent black smoke. It wasn't until later of being announced that Roberts was involved that he knew it was far more serious than initially reported. That by chance wouldn't be the same color that Leeroy Yarborough painted his #12 66 Charger sponsored by Jon Thorne would it? Great Build.

A Bowtie beauty!

The First thing you would want to see on a table in a Model contest.......The last thing you would want to see in your rear view mirror......in 1965! Great job!

The engine was a left over johan. The engine bay quite possibly came from the AMT 66 Fairlane or Cyclone which didn't need any coaxing, a natural fit. The chassis on the other hand was a much harder endeavor. Originally I wanted to use the AMT 67 mustang chassis, front and rear suspension was very detail and a almost dead on for an AMC undercarriage but the AMX interior tub just didn't work with the chassis donor and the chassis wheelbase is longer. I found a somewhat generic chassis plate with dual exhaust and the rear axle molded in as with the Johan chassis plate there is no exhaust. I removed about 1/16 in the middle of the chassis to correct the wheel base. After thinking about it I feel like the chassis choice kept more in line with the model overall instead of a over blown detail adventure. The engine paint on the other hand....... Years back you could go into Advance Auto, CARQUEST, etc, etc...and find a can of AMC engine paint. Trying to get and find the turqoiuse metallic shade of AMC, other than order a can of AMC engine spray, is a feat with in itself. I probably sent more in paint and purple power that what I have in the build..Lol. Of the AMC builds I have, none of them are the same shade. Most of the blocks start out with a testors light blue as a base coat with some type of metallic green over spray to get the color effect. Call me cheap! I did find find a bottle on the clearance aisle at HL called "Pebeo" Prisme Carabbean Blue in a 45 ml bottle that has come the closest with the basecoat. Hope this answers some of your questions and truly appreciate all of you taking the time to look......Chuck

A Johan kit that I have had for some time. Actually I friend of mine was going to throw it out with some other odds and ends. Glue stains on the body, a blob for an engine and a fender chip. About a year ago I started on it with the purchase of MM #28127 Big Bad Blue paint and off and on sputtered to really get going on it until I saw Sport Surburban"s Big Bad Green AMX http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/116160-69-amx-big-bad-green/ and got motivated again. I decided to add an engine bay since the original was lacking the correct bay and a donor chassis with more detail that was reduced to the correct wheelbase to fit. The decals are from Keith Marks, Tires from the AMT Tire Pack and rims from a AMT 70 Chevelle

Fantastic looking!!! I've had the same decals for the last few years with the intentions of using the Revell 1/24 scale.. Glad you beat me to it!

Good looking build of one the toughest competitor's of the 70's

If you are interested in building a Charger 500 that is more detailed, use the AMT Charger 500 body, front 500 grille from a AMT Charger 500 and rear bumper...everything else trash. Then get a Revell Daytona Charger and use the interior, engine bay fenders and chassis for the donor underpinning. The reason why the Daytona is b/c of the interior plate which rest on the chassis has a longer rear seat shelf that fits the rear window bay of the AMT Charger. Minimum mods to fit the chassis to the AMT body. The AMT Charger 500 kit suffers from a generic lack of suspension detail, a interior detail which is more dismal , a Hemi and an engine bay worthy of Russian Roulette with a fully loaded chamber. Of all the AMT 69 Chargers (DoH) I've had built were Nascar Charger 500 oriented using only the body and trashing the rest. I just posted my build "1969 Charger 500". I plan on building another in the future.

Used a Revell Daytona Charger chassis and interior as a donor (the rear window interior panel is longer) and the rims and cap from a 68 Charger. The body is AMT which slide over the Revell chassis with minor mods to the rear wheel wells and rear underskirts. The headlight in the grill were drilled out and replaced with clear lenses ( great improvement) and the back windshield is flush.

Don't think you can slip that one in the sleeper category, Sweet and Sharp!

I did one in dark blue (FoMoCo Presidential Blue) sometime back, great kit to build and love yours!

A replica of a actual car I own while in college. 258 cid straight 6 cylinder with a 3 speed. Good on gas , terrible on door hinges and constant ribbing from my buddies. Bandit Resin body with the AMT 75 Gremlin kit as a donor, a mysterious straight six for the engine and the front seats from the parts box b/c the donor seat won't even close to being considered ( to narrow/ skinny). Since no decals where made for a 72 Gremlin, I used Frisket paper to mask off the stripe.
