  1. Haters... just wait til the Play-Doh flares dry on my 5-Hour Energy themed Pontiac Aztec, then you'll see. LOL, what a mess! Mountain Dew bottle and dollar store mini shopping basket included. I don't get the Monster obsession. Seriously, type "monster energy tattoo" into google image search and see what I mean.
  2. ANY flip-nose kit makes me want to pull my hair out...but looks like you're doing a good job so far.

Wow...it looks like the model on the front of the boxes. Amazing work, man!
  4. Tony, I will try that and let you know how it works. If it doesn't I do have that other unbuilt flathead from an AMT kit I can use. The engine that came with this model ends about pretty close to the transmission and picks up where it's molded into the chassis. As luck would have it the unbuilt flathead has been damaged where the drive shaft connects so I could cut that off to match without worrying about it. Hopefully I can get some real work done on it this weekend and move onto a new out of the box kit with less headaches.
  5. All you gotta do now is get workin'! Hope to see an update soon.
  6. My previous car until 2011 was a Ginster Yellow 1997 Volkswagen GTI VR6 Drivers Edition (heater core went bad and it's a nightmare to fix) My current car, a United Gray 2008 1997 Volkswagen GTI Just FYI, these are photos of the cars I have, not my particular cars.
  7. Gorgeous build, man! I'm a fan of wagons myself. Sorry to hear about the fate of your 1:1.
  8. I went to some thrift stores this weekend specifically looking for model kits, thinking I might find some half built modern kits. I was about to leave then I saw four old builtups sitting on a shelf for $3 each; a 1963 Buick Riviera (sans hood, but modelhaus has one), a 57 T-Bird, an old beat up Corvette and a odd four engine dragster. I grabbed 'em and asked if they had anymore. The cashier tells me that they had around 30 of them a few days before. I scoured the place, but they were all gone. Three of the four I got were old kits with the screw on chasis. I cannot imagine what the other 27 model cars were... The only caveat to missing out on the 27 other cars was that I also found a 50's Nash hood ornament for $8 there. It's one of the George Petty (pinup artist) designed ones with a long winged woman. Must weigh about 5 pounds.
  9. Here's a quick update: Here's the flathead that came with the built kit. For whatever ridiculous reason, I'd like to use the engine that was originally used. But...there's a lot of glue and the engine halves, fan, belts and radiator pipes won't budge. However, the chrome parts popped right off. I could just paint the whole thing flat black then add the chrome back on or I could use another, unbuilt flathead from a different kit and that would require some surgery and adding engine mounts that the original engine block already had. Decisions, decisions... I got the new AMT Racemaster piecrust whitewall racing slicks for the back and the new AMT whitewall Firestones for the front in the mail over the weekend. I dug through my parts box and found some steelies to use. It's not much, but it's progress...
  10. It's funny, this was posted in the General forum this morning: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=74309 Another great way to shake that old paint.
  11. rmvw guy, just looked that up, man. Never even knew that existed. New version, $50 http://www.micromark.com/paint-shaker-120v-ac,6781.html Old School, $11 http://www.micromark.com/Cordless-Mixer-for-Model-Paints,7616.html Let's pony up that money now, boys. We all need a paint shaker / stirrer.
  12. Wow, that is good to hear! Next question is, anybody found a great way to shake the paint? My bottles are sealed well but the pigment has separated, ie, color on top, the clear on the bottom. Anybody got a miniature paint shaker?
  13. I'm sure this has been answered before, but... How long does Testors gloss enamel in the glass bottles last? Anybody know? Cheers!
  14. I ordered the Golf VR6 but the body was cracked when I opened it. Looked pretty nice though.
  15. Draggon, Scenes Unlimited has just what I need. Thanks!
  16. Thanks everyone! For the moment I just need them for the '32 I'm working on, but will likely need more later.
  17. All the sudden I'm in need of various wheelbacks for 1/25 scale cars. I got plenty of rims, but no wheelbacks. Anybody buy them or make their own? Thanks!
  18. The Hot Rod themed 57 Nomad was one of the best kits ever! If I remember right, it had opening doors and opening top and bottom rear hatch. I got it for Christmas in 1986 or 1987.
  19. Just ordered two sets of the slicks $9.90 each and two of the regular whitewalls $12.90 each from modelroundup. The only whitewall slicks I ever had as a kid in the 80's came with the Li'l Coffin kit and I always wanted more. Now that I'll have them the slicks will be going on my deuce rat rods I'm working on. The only problem will be finding wheelbacks for them. Just in case anyone else felt this way, the idea of "parts packs" seemed so exciting when I was a kid! Man did I ever want those things!
  20. Ha ha, nice work! Looks like there was a fire in the back seat. Nice weathering!
  21. Looking nice and rusty!
  22. Oooh I like it, Glenn. Nice job! That one piece chassis is such a pain, ain't it? I've seen some of these guys make their own, but I don't have the skill for it, so I'll do what you did and just make it work. It'd make my life and this build so much simpler if I would set up the front wheels in front of the radiator like you did.
  23. Thanks Jantrix and Ace-Garageguy. I'm getting into this resurrection business, it's kinda fun. I just need a bigger stash of old parts. Any ideas on what to do about that big glob of glue on the drivers side of the windshield? I'll keep you posted.
