LA Alley for gangster take down by Cops etc
English Jules replied to English Jules's topic in WIP: Dioramas
thanks, trying to work out how to have the layout on the board. Not sure yet. Its not long enough to have car nose to nose, or straight inline so would have to be the cop car pulling across infront. Im thinking of along these lines. https://www.flickr.com/photos/39569101@N07/5120173934/in/faves-124764964@N06/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/theronin/3953124663/in/faves-124764964@N06/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/56294332@N00/8715205912/in/faves-124764964@N06/ Sorry i dont know how to make the images here on here. -
I came across this pic some time ago, its the only one where i see the CV with white scuff strip and not black. Anyway looked at the info and it says Hybrid and slicktop. Hybrid in what, engine? https://www.flickr.com/photos/mikesphotos_us/4076546820/in/faves-124764964@N06/

Ford Econoline 75 Ambulance
English Jules replied to mangodart's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
nice, i have the orig kit i got off UK ebay not long ago. the Phantom reissue sells for about $50 or more over here -
Not quite sure of how having it, im limited to 14''x14''. Looked at many hundreds of images. This is the album with pics from the very start to where i am now step by step http://s955.photobucket.com/user/mrcooljules/library/LA%20Alley?sort=3&page=2

Thanks. Will look at the video later. I made a model of a NYPD CV that crashed in the street last year, and showed airbags, although the real car was the later version, rather than the LIndberg. I often look on US ebay for images, trouble is a lot of cars, esp older ones are just replicas, so not correct on the inside. Started using Flickr, finding lots of useful pics, but again not usually of cop car interiors
-
thanks, the figures were pre painted but im in the process of redoing them much better, just mast produced figures that are painted quick but look ok from a distance
-
Thanks guys. Much app. :-)
-
ok thanks. i had no ref images of the interior. Will change it
-
thanks, i saw some early wheel covers i have wanted, it seems made by All American Models, but not done any more. I have a couple of decal sheet options i want to do (i have about 7 Caprice and a couple of Impalla SS kits left) When i put that info into Modelhaus it only brings up these 2 items about whees. That justs makes me more confused lol. I
-
yeah thats him. Redone the same post to be a NYPD, i got a few of them. I am changing a couple though to be early 90's, so diff radios and truncheons
-
Im not too good at the figures, at the moment the faces are how they came, look ok for done quick but no real enough. Been looking at real uniforms online, for better colours, detail etc I have a lot more im doing at the moment, NYPD also
-
Would you know when the breast mounted radio mic was first used? i cant find any info at all for any CA force. I dont want my late 90s, mid 2000's figures to have them if they were not correct for the time.
-
me too :-)
-
Thanks, started repainting the uniforms and the skin etc on some, and another black guy. The pre painted figures look ok at first glance but pretty poor close up but then i guess mass hand painted quick. Im trying to find out when the LAPD and LASD first had the breast mounted mics. I dont want to have them next to a CV if way too early

trouble i dont know what im after. LIke i said i dont know what i need. Like i have the Johan 68 Fury, but what parts he does do i really need to replace for acc or much better detail, that sort of thing. I cant afford just to go and get one of each. I have the Johan fire hearse thing, i have no idea what it is, and again no idea what he has that would help improve it. 70's Ford AMT, same problem-maybe better wheels or something else that would improve the build, I literally have no idea.

Totally redone and modified light bar and alley lights, as seen on images. Yes it really does sit that high, a good few inches about the normal lightbars seen. Chimneyville decals, had some trouble with a couple of the lower door side numbers (and rear US flag) so will fix all these later. Couple of figures i repainting just for scale effect. Plan on having this with a unmarked CV doing a felony stop diorama. Gone for worn, scuffed paintwork. The cars looked spotless from a distance but close up lots of scuffs and repainted areas. Just a couple of tiny touch ups i can see in the pics and a little buff up

Are there any other useful cop car related items on his website, there is no real search option, plus as you can imagine i have not got a clue what most of what is listed, or even if it would be useful for cop car builds etc. What would be useful for the AMT 70s Ford. Dodges and Plymouths etc that you think i could use, either with kits i have here, or kits i could get in the future. Looking at cars past mid 60's. I have some money sat in paypal and i might as well use it. Just spent ages going through things but im pretty lost. All i could do was find 68 Fury for my Johan kits. I can see the cop dog dish hub caps but the other items, what are worth improving over the kit items? I cant really afford to just get one of each for the sake of it. http://www.modelhaus.com/index.php?y=60&c=4197&pt=&part=1&Submit=Search I have a couple of van kits, 77 Ford van AMT (seen it re released recently, mainly a black van on the box art). So useful things, if the wheels and tyres etc are not right from the kit. I know its a big vague. I do want to get in the future the AMT rescue van, i know it comes in red and white, one with and one without windows (although not sure which has which). Engine wise i usually do kerbside, so no use to me. oh i have a Johan red ambulance long thing, no idea of year or what it is, but seen things looking like this in tv shows, CHiPs etc and thought i would like to make one so i got the kit, any improvements would be great for that. Sorry a lot of its vague, i just want to improve my builds with more acc items (i know all after market stuff for military, and what kits need what improvements etc) but cop car kits etc not really. thanks for the help :-)

I like this CV, unusual colour, says was still in service until 2011 at least. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ajmstudios/6256355487/in/faves-124764964@N06/

thanks guys. Really enjoying doing them, makes a change from things that go boom and have big machine guns lol

Thanks, im not a great modeller, esp with cars, they are new to me but i do like to try my best. This is the LAPD B/W with the car i plan on being used in a felony stop https://www.flickr.com/photos/124764964@N06/14535391127/in/set-72157645448794009 This is a flat blue that i really like, but it was a car spray can so went on too thick, so at the moment stripping the paint off and will do a better thinner paint job https://www.flickr.com/photos/124764964@N06/14719442974/in/set-72157645448794009 NY Transit CV WIP https://www.flickr.com/photos/124764964@N06/14698844266/in/set-72157645448794009 And just playing around with the layout to have with the crashed Gangster car. on a street, behind is a sidewalk and to the rear of the base is a mesh panel fence i will make, with a inch or 2 behind, that will be a basket ball court. with a couple of teenagers looking through at the cops. https://www.flickr.com/photos/124764964@N06/14535379657/in/set-72157645448794009

yeah i added that, i noticed it saw much higher than a standard light bar. This is where i am with it now. Although gone to a dark grey interior. https://www.flickr.com/photos/124764964@N06/14741709103/in/set-72157645448794009

And im doing this LAPD CV. I found some other pics showing better the light bar and alley lights. Its almost done. I wanted a slight work and scruffy paint scheme when you see it close up. https://www.flickr.com/photos/dstone7y/6184540263/in/faves-124764964@N06/

thanks. seen that before as Wiki is where i turn too for info lol. I was getting lost and confused, well more like going round in circles trying to understand things too much. Im doing a Lindberg Charger LAPD car. I have found a pic of 2 next to each other, one with silver wheels, and door scuffs, and the other black wheels (which i will do) and no door scuffs. I love looking at tiny detail like that. https://www.flickr.com/photos/navymailman/4051107431/in/faves-124764964@N06/

thanks. enjoyed it. The wheels where a pain, i guess for some die cast so the centre hole wasnt right. Got it sorted though. Got a couple more on the go too. 6 More are on the way from the US. Noticed Revell list a CV for later this year, Snaptite..i cant see it being the same tooling, but why they would want to do the same CV i dont know, the later shaped one would have been ideal
