  1. thanks, i have a couple of other ideas for streets and alleys still
  2. Meeeeeeeeeeg. I just got home now, had to go to the inlaws for the afternoon, well i dropped the wife off. I got off ebay other day another AMT 70s Ford cop car, asked the seller if i could collect as not far away from inlaws. Said yes to picked it up, we recognised each other once he opened the door, until a few weeks ago he had a tiny tiny 2nd had book show, with a few kits here and there. So i would pop in, and get one if i was passing. Im gonna get a couple of the Eagle when he gets them. I can get a couple from the US for the same as one here , even a fraction less but with shipping, del co. handling fees etc its a pain.
  3. nice. i want a couple but here in UK they cost around $50 or so. Seen them in the US at much less than half that. I def want to build one or 2, never done sci fi before, and i hate star trek, dr who etc but always willing to try something new I was watching a few episodes last week while working on my cop cars, and a Mig 21, inc the first episode of season 2. Brian Blessed starred and having met him in real life hes just as loud off camera
  4. nice. i stripped mine back from the LAPD B/W once i found out the kit decals were fiction. Im trying a few nail varnish greens for a unmarked unit.
  5. thanks :-) im doing a LAPD Charger at the moment, thinking of using that of the CV kit.
  6. i imported another 6 Lindberg CVs a couple of months ago, shipping was the same price again as i paid for the kits, then the tax once here... When i saw the first images of the Revell CV i was shocked and disappointed...totally Even if it did mean they were sold in Europe. Lindberg never did get the CV or Charger sent over thinking no interest...i got that from the head man I might buy one, but not bothered, unless it has the front door scuff strip removed. I would have bought 10 at least of the later CV. You all seem to forget that lots of the kits would have to be good sellers around the world and not just in the US.....and i think the CV fails bad. Who bought more of the 05 Impala? kids or cop car fans? i bought 2 (and cost a lot more here than in the US). in the old snap tite box with stickers, they now have it in a diff box with decals instead but a lot more money......i will get another 1 or 2 cheaper boxes. I bought the SUV cop they did, only one. Mainly as the wheels etc are not correct.
  7. bollocks man thats not good. cant believe one didnt stand up for you the orig guy whos work it was. Im planning on doing some masters for resin trash and household junk, and dumpsters, lots of measurements, work, rework, and more work to get them good enough to offer. i would be really angry if someone just did copies from my work and sold them
  8. now i like that! Yeah i read a lot about him, the budget and the cars etc. pretty interesting. Would that burnt orange work before 74? i know lots of US cars were given new colours esp for the car and year, im sure.
  9. oh, orig Gone in 60 seconds, Vansihing Point are my fave movies. I even watched Sugarland express a few times to look at the cars..........then was told they were all fiction, supplied by the car company and were not real cop cars etc so full of faults
  10. cool ta. i was looking at colours they came in on the web. i was thinking a boring green or brown, using nail varnish. my AMT Galaxie/Custom i do like in this colour, although no idea what colour it is lol. I just couldnt image unmarked cars being bright orange, red or yellows. :-) I want to try and get the model as acc as possible, so no one would later say, no thats totally wrong...never used or would be seen like that. Im guessing with the US so big, the car would be used all over, and each county would have different rules etc as you say. Anyway soon i will make some notes, some ideas of the interior, radio equipment etc, and light position and colours i think would be correct, then run it past you guys before i cut and chop :-) cheers guys
  11. thanks :-) i dont usually use model related products. they are out of my price range. so i use items around the house, or cheap womens make up etc. I use hair spray a lot for many weathering of rust, or just painted colours. I try anything, at times things do not work, but nothing lost. Fun to learn
  12. thanks, i just did the dumpster quick, covered in graffiti etc the average person wouldnt know. I didnt have scale plans so i just did it quick by the eye. I now have access to 3 different dumpsters in the US, so getting perfect dimensions of them, so i can replicate 100% correct. Then use masters to make resin ones. with 'false' 3 types of trash etc loads.
  13. thats really useful thanks, radio aerials was something i was trying to find looking at pics. Im doing a couple of 70s cars as well as the Ford, doing a 78 Fury and Monaco.
  14. Would anyone have images or help on using the front and rear coloured lights inside, and would the spot lamp be used for the driver to operate?
  15. thanks guys. i did a what looked like a old fashioned green, nail varnish and the liquid removal with the airbrush, first ever time. took a little while to get the mix right, thin enough but looks good. very thin coats.
  16. Cant find any info on google, just curious as im doing the 70s Ford by AMT as unmarked as found images of those thanks
  17. thanks, took a look, seen the shopping carts before. Im scratchbuilding everything on mine, no money to buy any after market bits.
  18. thanks, glad you like it. Its coming along now :-) Put up about 30 pics showing how i did it, in order with all the colours http://s955.photobucket.com/user/mrcooljules/library/LA%20Alley
  19. thanks. i added some grass strips, some dead some alive and 2 long smoother, lighter strips where a cars tyre would be. Will put the pics up later.
  20. Thanks guys. Been fun so far. I looked at images for 'los angeles alley' but yeah it could be anywhere at all, i did write MACKEY WAS HERE in reference to my fave cop show lol Once the base is completed i can then build the Buick GNX, then work on the figures. http://s955.photobucket.com/user/mrcooljules/library/LA%20Alley Im planning a NYC Liquor store robbery dio, again can only 14'' across but i can go 2 or 3' high, so i can do apartment windows, air con units, fire escape etc The old junk of a van used by the robber is almost completed.
  21. thanks, i know i used the Revell 3 in 1 79 Camaro for a CHP years ago and had to fill the T bar roof in. I have a lot of options from the Chimmneyville decas i have.
  22. I have just won this kit, pretty cheap for over here. I guess the bumpers and a couple of other things are not correct for a cop car, so maybe some converting is needed. If not then its still a nice looking car :-) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201148500124?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
