  1. A lot of you old timers probably knew this already, but it's news to me. I thought it was kind of cool. http://www.autoblog.com/2013/03/01/vert-a-pac-train-cars-kept-your-chevy-vegas-price-in-check/
  2. This is most likely the Pro Mod he is talking about http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=78118
  3. Micro Fasteners has the larger stuff. I have both Scale Hardware and Micro Fasteners, they seen to be the nicest, other than the insanely priced stuff. There's close to 100 pieces of hardware in here. It's 1/12 scale. I used mostly Scale Hardware, some Micro Fasteners, and RB Motion. Well worth the money
  4. I know a lot of people are gung-ho about ordering within the US and supporting domestic companies, I am as well. I placed a decent order with a very popular vendor last week in the US, as well as several others overseas. Before I even received a response from the US vendor, my packages from Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore showed up on my doorstep. The parts are the cheapest you will find them and the shipping is reasonable. Everything was here within a week. They have stuff in stock that nobody here does. http://www.mediamixhobby.com.sg/shop/index.php (Media Mix Hobby) These guys are in Singapore. I have ordered from them numerous times without issue. One time they didn't have an item I ordered. they asked me if I preferred a refund or store credit, and apologized profusely. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/ (Hobby Search) Fast shipping, great prices, excellent communication. Lots of awesome tools I have never seen before. Specialty sanding tools, curved and contoured files, etc.
  5. I am kind of a writer, for far less interesting stuff. The girls were in the car and there was no more room. Proof they are smarter than us
  6. The race wire looks great
  7. that's for another project. I am using the pro stock motor from the Glidden kit. it will be even nastier than that. It's an NA motor, but I just got some nice resin turbos in, so who knows? Most Likely i will stick with kit pieces, but with some nice detail.
  8. You know, it was these types of models that appealed to me and the reason why I got back into modelling. thinking it was easy to build the roughed up look more than the clean look. it takes a lot of time and skill to build these. This one is turning out great.
  9. If you're using Netflix, check out a show called Lillehammer. It's Steven Van Zandt from the Sopranos. Great show. Netflix exclusive.
  10. I don't know what's worse, eating it at the bottom of the hill, or trying to put your foot back on the pedal which is now the churning grinder of death. Oh yeah, I knocked my front teeth out. We made a huge bike ramp and I used my cousins bike. At the time, you weren't cool unless you took the pads off your BMX bike. Being the qualified engineers we were at 10, we propped up some boards at the bottom of a hill. No slope or ramp, just a violent lift off. I caught some SERIOUS air, and ate the handlebars on the way down. I now have 6 veneers and 2 crowns. I'm just lucky my cousin is an oral surgeon or I'd be living in a trash can
  11. No, but it was Southern California. Something in the water makes us retarded when we're young
  12. Probably the dumbest one was riding on the back of a car. When I was 16, me and a friend rode on the back of another friend's car. We were draped over the back window, holding on to the sun roof. It was less than a mile from the school to our house. Going around a long sweeping turn, My friend pushed off of me for leverage. I went off the side and the sidewall of the tire nicked my face. I tumbled head over heels and every time I would come around I could see my shoe in the air. By the time I stopped flipping, my shoe was 50 yards away. I could see the bone in my finger, my pants were shredded and I had road rash and there was a pink streak in the road from my burgundy sweater that had somehow went over my head and protected me. The best part about this? I went home and my dad was there. He said what the hell happened to you? I told him I was riding my skateboard down the concrete wash, got speed wobbles and fell down the wash. He said BS, it looks like you fell off a @*&BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH car!
  13. I use Top Studio resin fittings and paint them. they look good. They come in 3 different scales http://www.hlj.com/product/tsttd23047/Aut You get more than what is pictured. 1 scale per pack. i would say about 30 fittings per pack. 3 angles included.
  14. The only place I found it was Hobby Search. I emailed and asked if they could ship it, thinking it was restricted. They said no problem. I ordered a large order, $150+ from them. it showed up in a week. Great customer service http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10011510
  15. Got me some Kosutte Ginsan and some other goodies. Model Factory Hiro air brake ducts detail and ignition wire. Battery cables and braided line. I still have some more on the way. Also some photo etched roll cage gussets. I'm an idiot and bought the Type 78 when I thought I was buying the Type 79. So I got the Type 79 and some serious stuff to go with it JPS decals and some decals for the 312 T PE set and MFH seat belt set MFH white metal sets. Brakes, misc parts. Turned funnels with fuel fittings and line. I also have a PE body panel set and some other stuff on the way That's not even close to everything I ordered. I was left unsupervised last week, this is what happens.
  16. Here is where I have to build up the fender to match the hood If anyone is interested, I have a Pro Stock T Bird body available, minus the hood. Free to a good home. It's missing the back glass and the rest of the glass is a little rough. I bought it from Ebay.
  17. Not a lot of progress, but some. I don't really know what I'm doing so I have to figure it out as I go. I might take a break for a bit because some parts I've been getting excited for came in. I added some strips to catch the hood so it would sit flush when closed, but I think this will be displayed with hood off. I frankenstein'd the two hoods together. I know have to add some epoxy and built up the fender to align with the hood. The windshield from the BOSS kit contours to the TBird hood. Lined it up where I needed to splice the two together Because it was flimsy while gluing together, I put it in place and clamped it together how it would sit naturally and let the glue cure like that so I would get the correct contour. It needs some widening at the front, but the hood fits perfectly from the bumper up to the cowl These are new at Home Depot, at least I haven't seen them before. They fit the body and everything. My new helper sleeping on the job. FIRED!
  18. From what everyone is saying, sounds like I'll be in good shape. I needed the race wire anyway, I have two pro stock builds going. I'll be all set after this. Thank you.
  19. If you have to, you can use the hack saw and leave an extra 1/16, then sand it back smooth to where you need it with sanding sticks.
  20. I just ordered the race ignition wire. I'll compare when I get it. The ignition wire small to me, but like I said, I'm at work and have nothing to compare it to. Maybe I have been using wire that is too big in the past. It is what it is, I'm not going to complain to them about. I'll compare the 3 when the new stuff comes in and I'll know what to order next time. I appreciate everyone's input. I have some of those on the way. Thank you, I placed an order for some of those.
  21. I posted a livestream in the off topic forum. You can watch live.
  22. Okay. I'm sure it's because I don't have anything near me for size reference. Thank you.
  23. I just placed a fairly large order with Detail Master. I ordered "detail wire" and "ignition wire", understanding that the detail wire would be smaller. The ignition wire looks very small, it is barely larger than the detail wire and you can only tell when holding them end to end. It looks too small to be spark plug wire. I'm at work and not next to any models, so I could just be imagining. I will keep the wire regardless, but to me it looks more like detail wire I would use for interiors on race cars rather than spark plug wire. If this is the case, where would I buy proper spark plug wire from?
  24. http://blogs.hotrod.com/watch-the-sinkhole-corvette-rescue-live-stream-107397.html#axzz2uvMWXtlo
  25. I have one of these that I plan on going all out on. I'm waiting for my skills to improve. By far my favorite race car.
