I didn't know that. I don't think I will use any decals on this. I may, but most likely not. I dunno. -
Pro Stock BOSS- BOSS 429 With Bob Glidden Guts

This is the BOSS 429 kit motor with a blower from the 64 GTO. I built it separately for another project and just stuck it in there for reference. I only had a partial engine left over for my BOSS 429. I didn't want to waste it so I just built it whatever I could. I wasn't really worried about accuracy. The blower is from the 64 Gto kit. I just did what I could. It's wrong, but I think it turned out nice. I know you're probably having a seizure looking at that right now -
I built a BOSS 429 a while back, when I was still learning the ropes. It took me two kits to make one model. I ruined the engine in the first one. So here I am with a brand new kit without an engine. I have given up trying to find the engine for this kit for less than an entire kit cost and I don't want it to go to waste. I also have a Bob Glidden Thunderbird I bought from Ebay a while back, and the box showed up with scratched glass, dirt and bugs in it. The decals are worthless. I decided to try and hack up both to make one awesome car. I have never done anything like this. Both kits were just going to sit on the shelf forever, so I figured why not. The Glidden chassis is too long in the back, but the wheelbase is exactly the same. I can just shorten the chassis. I cut out the fender wells and stuff from the front on both cars The T-Bird piece fits right under the Mustang. I may have to cut it and align it with the fenders, but I haven't gotten that far yet This is a Boss I built for a 32 Ford I am working on, I will be using the Glidden engine for this build I'm not sure if I will try to use the BOSS interior or not. i haven't even thought about it. I will probably do an all out race car.

Washing and dry brushing will make any standard paint job stand out. I spray my chassis with semi gloss or flat black. I then wash all the nooks and crannies with burnt umber and black, then dry brush some of the high spots with aluminum or steel color to make it look a little scraped up. One thing I learned was to use different tones of the same color. Aluminum, steel, stainless steel, flat aluminum can all be used to replicate the same color on different parts like the heads vs. the manifold. -

Just a heads up. I have the AM Grand Sport kit and I tried using the Webers on the Fujimi Cobra. Both are 1/25, but the Webers from the AM kit are WAY too big. Historic Racing miniatures make the nicest Webers around, but the stacks are molded in and the carbs are a little on the small side, so I am havign a hard time finding turned stacks to fit. -
the glossier the finish, the smoother it is. I would prefer to apply decals over a smooth finish so I wouldn't get any texturing. It's a coating, so it should be the final finish. Using flat over gloss should give you flat. what is silvering?

that is actually pretty dirty. All that debris in there isn't doing you any favors.

I know a lot of people here will be appalled at the suggestion, but if you experience severe pain from the arthritis and you're open to suggestions, medical marijuana may help you. I have two herniated discs and I fractured a vertebrae at 17. Now I have a torn labrum in my shoulder and in the beginning stages of arthritis. I'm 30. Pills help but the biggest problem is running out and not being able to get more. There's not a whole lot of options out there

An actual garage find, with BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH piled on top of it. http://www.thegentlemanracer.com/2014/02/garage-find-gt40-mki-chassis-p1067.html

Mine's in primer right now, i was surprised at how much detail there is. It's peaking my interest in 1/43.

I have had the opportunity to buy a few cars, two of them new and two used. What I noticed works best in your advantage is to have the ability to walk away. The best deal we ever got was on my wife's jeep. I told them "I know you have really tried to make this work and it is a good deal, but the numbers just don't work for us. I appreciate your time." We got halfway to the parking lot and they chased us down. There's a difference between saying it's too much and actually walking away. It's not easy. -
those 3 genres are intertwining these days and it sounds terrible. Billy Ray Cirus just did a Rap remix of Achey Breaky Heart

I had a rough week as well. I'm nursing a herniated disc. I've been walking hunched over for the last week, I'm 30.

Let's please make an effort to not turn this thread into another cluster*****. Everyone is entitled to their own taste in music, and while I hate plenty of what's out there, I can't blame someone for what makes them feel good when they listen to it.

I'm not really in a financial position to buy a lathe, but I would make it happen if I had the design skills. I'd pinch pennies, Maybe later in life. I would be ecstatic to be able to machine my own parts. -

I don't think he is trying to recoup through selling, rather it paying off in the long run by not having to constantly buy pieces from other machinists. You could easily spend $100+ on one 1/24 car. If you build A LOT you could eventually break even. But just alleviating the cost by making your own stuff, or just by having the freedom to do whatever you want is worth IMO. If you have the budget for it.
