  1. Super clean, that looks awesome.
  2. I used dry brushing, but I use Model Master Metalizers. Steel seems to be the best color. You can buff it to a shine after, but when you use it dry for dry brushing, it comes out super thin and shiny already after you scrape the brush across the surface. On metal colored parts I spray the color I want, then do a wash, then dry brush the high points, so I get at least 3 metal colors in there.
  3. Thank you everyone. I will definitely be building a few more of these in the future. I gotta have at least one black and one Grabber Blue.
  4. Oh yeah, gonna build a rat rod, with chrome parts and give it a nice paint job
  5. I realize that, but I'm building a 1/12 57 Chevy and I'm tired of staring at orange. I thought it would be a nice change. It is GM Blue though, if that counts
  6. and side mirror and hood. They'r in a bag somewhere, I'll get to them eventually.
  7. The carb linkage is from Model Cars Garage, they have a nickel and copper version The headers are from the Tony Foti Camaro (revell), but my replacements came form Ebay with a different trans and other stuff, so I know they exist in other kits. I think they are just Revell's BB headers. Thank you everyone for the compliments.
  8. Thank you. It's not my first, just the first one I forced myself to complete since I started building about 6 years ago. I struggle a lot with painting bodies and that's what has been keeping me, but I am getting it figured out now, so hopefully I will be able to crank out the ones I have almost done.
  9. one of two models I have completed. This one fired better than the BOSS 429, but still some issues with sanding through the color coat. This was painted with ZERO then clearcoated, then tons of sanding. I'll get it right some day. I used the MCG photo etch kit for the interior, exterior badges, wheel centers, hood vents etc. Mufflers painted with Alcla flat aluminum, pipes painted with Alclad stainless steel Air cleaner cover painted with Alclad chrome and weathered.
  10. Quick GMC

    BOSS 429

This is the first model I ever completed, which makes it one of two. I have a bunch of half finished models. Lot's of small problems on this one, like rubbing through the paint on some high areas. Painted with Duplicolor enamel, then sanded to death and brought to a polish. I think I have a good 3 hours into sanding and polishing, if not more. I'm also better at taking pics now, so I apologize for the poor lighting.
  11. I want to replicate this red Cobra, does anyone know what this red is called?
  12. I realized that after I put it together. My excuse is I'm a grown up and I can do what I want
  13. Looks good, but would be 100% better with the trim painted Make sure the trim surfaces are super smooth. Tape off at the joint, then sand the trim smooth (you're painting over it anyway) and give it a light wipe with alcohol. Make sure your tape is nice at tight, then just spray light mist coats of Tamiya black rubber. It dries super fast. the most critical part is not getting oil from your skin on the tape as you apply and make sure the tape is smooth, no wrinkles etc.
  14. hands down the best diorama I have seen. This is incredible.
  15. If this is your first model, it's fantastic. Nice job.
  16. No the collectors are part of the headers. I just had them taped together for mockup, the headers are two pieces.
  17. here we go Molded in kit cooler New resin cooler. Not sure if I want to get this funky or not Model Car Garage gauges (included with kit) Feast your eyes. All chassis brackets, Alt. fan, gauge bezel, emblems, linkage and what appears to be the most delicate PE piece ever made at the top Nice instructions This is the only bummer. I don't know what will be more work, shaving the stock tranny of the molded in linkage, or cleaning up the resin tranny to be presentable. I know they went through a lot of work to make this available, but it's not that great. Everything else appears to be flawless.
  18. As much misery as I've had with my paint job I am considering a single color, but I have a 1/16 Competizione that I have tracked own a photo etch kit for, so I may do the Monte Shell on this one and do the generic version on the larger one.
  19. I have not built this or started it yet, but I wanted to show you guys. I am waiting until my skills improve to do this one because I have big plans for it. The kit. As far as I know, Revell has repackaged the AM Grand Sport kit. It includes a little photo etch, but not enough for me. Here's the new kit goodies This is what you get in the kit: WARNING: Beware of Ebay sellers selling this kit for below list price, they do NOT give you the PE parts. Only buy sealed kits that specifically say "with phot etch" or buy from your LHS This is the insane Model Car Garage kit. It includes a resin tranny that has the molded in linkage removed, and a resin cooler. There are PE chassis brackets as well. I got me some purty Weber stacks and some joints I was hoping to use as fuel connectors but they may be too big. My other pictures aren't loading right now, so when I get it figured out I'll post the rest of the pics.
  20. Some more header pics
  21. Here's another engine shot that shows the hose clamps on the intercooler hoses and some more parts added to the engine. I'll get some more pics tonight. The chassis has been covered with carbon and cleared with a dull coat. Oil lines added, engine installed and other parts.
  22. computer Pedals. These were a pain. I glued on the photo etch pieces, then drilled out each hole through the plastic. Then the photo etch faces fell off, then the plastic broke apart from all the holes and it had a hard time lining all the holes up again .The pedals gave me more trouble than everything...except the body..which has been painted and stripped 3 times.
  23. Intercoolers applied
  24. Brakes Wheel nuts are part of the Tamiya (Monet Shell) kit painted with MM Metalizers Basic engine parts detailed, washed and dry brushed exhaust detailed A little overboard with the weathering, but if I had an F40 I'd drive that mother into the ground
  25. I started this a while ago and abandoned it about a year ago because I just flat out suck at painting bodies. I'm getting better and forcing myself to practice with my new airbrush and I hope posting this will get me a bit motivated to finish. I have a lot of time invested in this and I'll be damned if me being lazy will ruin it. Nothing too crazy. I am using Tamiya and Scale Motorsport photo etch kits. Lot's of good stuff, including polished metal exhaust tips. Here it is next to the Fujimi 1/16 Getting started Getting ready for Alclad Alclad done. Too bad the real thing doesn't look like this because I kind of wanted to leave it alone.
