  1. Even though I couldn't get this one, I enjoyed trying and it's good to learn what it is! Thanks Michael -Don.
  2. Fabulous model of one of the most brutal looking sports/racers ever. I think the model here had an SBC - and Willie Green, well known and talented historic racer, used to refer to his 7-litre Iso Grifo (an A3/C by another name, really) as the 'Heap o'Grifo'. But I've always loved them. Well done David!
  3. Best looking Edsel I've ever seen, Ken (in fact the only good-looking one!) - but why does it have an outhouse door out front? Nice build, though. Does it have engine detail? Cheers, -Don.
  4. I really thought there'd be lots more winners as the diagonal bar and badge on the radiator grille is a dead giveaway! Thanks Michael, good choice as ever.
  5. Very well done, great model. It inspired me to look up the Dinah on Wikipedia as my father did shoot one down over Burma in WW2. I was surprised to read this: 'On September 25, 1944, Flying Officer Wittridge shot down a Ki-46, using a personally modified Spitfire Mk VIII. Wittridge had removed two machine guns and the seat armour, and also polished the wing leading edges to gain extra speed.' That's my dad! - but I hadn't appreciated how hard the Dinah was to catch until I read the Wiki article. So thanks for your build! Cheers, -Don.
  6. ? I think it would look better if it had run head on into a tree. Several times... And the gent in the plus fours in the background is wishing he'd brought his Purdey!
  7. Me too - 5 world championships is impressive but even more when you consider that he didn't start his Grand Prix / F1 career until he was as old as Lewis Hamilton is now. Imagine if he'd started ten or fifteen years earlier! I love this model subject and as you say if the wheels are a little wide, it's no big deal - if the 1:1 was racing in historics today it would probably have had a similar upgrade.
  8. Doh! Thanks Joe!. Time for a trip to the optician for me I guess?
  9. And there's nothing new in this zone: Count Trossi: Walter Christie:
  10. Thanks Richard. Well you live and learn, it seems the looks are deceptive where the handling is concerned. The French seem to have a proud tradition of deliberately odd styling! Viva la revolution!
  11. I knew this one, unfortunately - I've tried to put it out of my mind but failed! Not a stylistic success to my mind. Ideal for truffle-hunting with it's big snout, probably not so eager to turn into corners...
  12. PM sent. I always think one of these would make a great gasser.
  13. Good working drawings, you have captured the subtle lines of the Charger well. We look forward to seeing these projects.
  14. Great to see all these takes on Miss Deal! I love them all.
  15. Superb! I love this car. Well done, Lee

Thanks Robert The headers were chrome originally. I really recommend this kit for a taste of old skool modelling!

Thanks all for your kind comments Yes the headers were a pain, but then there were a few fitment issues, mainly due to the age of the mouldings I guess. Cheers, -Don.
  19. Here's my take on the great Revell Miss Deal. I added chrome backs to the headlights then dropped clear varnish into them to give a pleasing yellow shine. I painted on the rear lights and threw away the push bar (foot) which to my mind just looked silly - and she does have a starter motor so it's not needed! I also added rear supports to the roll cage and moved the steering wheel and seat to a left hand drive setup. I cut down a dash panel with a couple of instruments from an old F1 kit and added that and also made a rear window 'cos it looks better that way! I threw away the two-part body support strut as it looked clumsy and I could not fathom how and where it was supposed to fit. I also had to lower the entire cage and do some sanding of the front internal frame to get the stance just right - I dislike 'nose-up' gassers and street freaks! Let me know what you make of the stance I arrived at (looking at you Bill!) I've wanted this model since I was 15 years old - finally got one fifty years later. Not perfect but I love it ? The kit is showing it's age but I thoroughly enjoyed building it - and it looks great on display with the Vette and the Charger.
  20. PM sent A lovely thing to behold!
