  1. I thought the rules were implicit - do we need them to be published in order to understand what the game is supposed to be about? Perhaps childishly, it makes me feel good if by knowledge and informed guesswork plus a little research I can get my name on the list of those who got it right, even better if there are only a few names there! If that list also contains people who haven't put any thought into the answer but have used this mysterious back door technique, then it spoils it for the rest of us. But as far as I'm aware, no names have been mentioned on this site so where's the name calling? I'm glad the game will survive, that's the main thing.
  2. Good one Harry, I just couldn't quite place it! Pretty car, especially for Renault.
  3. Well they did eventually nail together 12 or more of them! I guessed the Mustang influence but that's as far as I got on this one. Bring on the next one! Thanks, -Don.
  4. Great project! Bandai did a 2002 turbo in 1/20 scale, a good kit except for the too skinny wheels and tyres - but the standard 1:1 suffered those too! I never finished mine as I modded the body to include the flared arches on my Alpina 1:1 and in the process of sanding the filler, snapped the roof pillars - and I could never found a set of wheels and tyres to do it justice so it stayed in the box! That was a long time ago but the kits are still around, if you google 'Bandai 2002 turbo' -Don.
  5. Damning with faint praise indeed! Proper cars have round headlights. Not many of those built nowadays.
  6. I'm with Ken on this one!
  7. Yeah! And us armchair social commentators! Would it make a good diorama? Aaah... no, maybe not! If he was stealing juice from the Zombies, that'd be more like it!
  8. Did the guy leave a note explaining what he'd done, with his contact details so he could arrange to pay his dues? Or make any other attempt to get in touch with the school? If not then I'd say he was blagging it and deserves whatever punishment the law decides to impose on him. That's how society works, for all it's imperfections. The law is an ass, but that seems a good reason to keep your nose clean so you don't fall foul of it!
  9. I'm pretty sure the specific car isn't a Rene Bonnet, it's one of the Matra built ones - they were slightly restyled and a bit larger I understand, But there were so many variations of wheelarches, wheels, trim, bumpers, badge placement, name and number that I never found two the same! This one seems to have the 'teeth' missing from the bonnet vent on top of the nose... Good one, anyway.
  10. They certainly did that with Babs, the Parry Thomas LSR car that crashed on Pendine Sands. killing Thomas. Babs was exhumed and rebuilt to running order by Owen Wyn Owen, giving rise to an ownership battle with the local council! I'd be interested to know if they did the same with the Stutz. Beautiful model of a beautiful car.
  11. I just got it! Whoopee!
  12. No! The 'man' is a 2:1 scale model, he is clearly less realistic than the car!
  13. I love the idea of suitcase bumps! That's new to me, did Dan carry his spare race suit and DJ (for the prizegiving ceremony) around the Targa Florio race course with him, hence the need to massage the boot lid for his luggage to fit? Lovely build of one of my favourite Cobras!
  14. But what's the yellow one? logic suggests it's from the same family but I can't manage to prove it!
  15. Thanks Bill! Your rationale makes sense, steel was a generally lot 'cleaner' in those days, and Mercs were built for strength! If you're interested in some flying stuff check this link: wunjopress.com/anevilboy.htm There is one surviving Macchi M.C.72, in the Italian Air Force museum near Rome.
  16. Brilliant! Mind you, that Merc diff. is going to be struggling with all that power... Rather off-topic, my Dad broke his back in a P-51 (powered by a Packard-built Merlin)during the war - he was coming in for a hot landing and banged the flaps down at around 150 mph - but only one of them came down and the Mustang flipped on it's back into the ground. We have picture of the wreck, lots of little pieces in the desert! He did fly fighters again after a few months in a body cast. Back to the build - I for one can't wait to see more progress.
  17. Very nice builds. I'd drive the BMW, but I prefer looking at the Fords!
  18. I thought that but I couldn't match any pictures I found to those shut lines or specific 'B' pillar line. Hmmm. I'm glad this isn't the subject of the quiz (don't get ideas, Harry!)
  19. Well spotted, Don. So are the door shut line at the front, and the proportions of the nose, now I look more closely. I think I might know what the other vehicle is. Superficially very similar though! Pretty cars, I think,
  20. Yes it's slightly surreal, I imagine a neighbourhood where everyone has one, in a different colour!
  21. Looks like yours will be stronger than the real ones! I love 917s but they were no place to have an accident! Brilliant brass work.
  22. PM sent!
  23. The Revell Orange Crate is the best kit ever, closely followed by their Beatnik Bandit. Most Tamiya kits have good detail. The AMT Munster Koach has risible detail and is utterly wonderful!
  24. As I PMd to Harry, this car was on our UK TV programmes Fifth Gear (it caught fire) and Top Gear (the floor came loose and there was a problem with the fuel injection). At the press launch part of the front suspension came loose and the car veered off the road, and at the Goodwood festival of speed the throttle stuck open. Thanks Harry
